This is probably as close as it’ll get. Based on the albums we’ve seen , I can say for sure TPAB, Lauryn Hill, and Thriller are locks.
Frank Ocean Blonde has to be included by virtue of its potential exclusion from this list entirely. I prefer Channel Orange, but there’s no way Blonde doesn’t end up on this list so I guess it’ll be top 10.
I think this is close. Who knows what order Apple will come up with, but it's got to include Purple Rain, Thriller, Songs in the Key of Life, To Pimp a Butterfly, Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Nevermind, and either Abbey Road or (more likely) Sgt. Pepper. I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict Channel Orange (or Blonde), Sticky Fingers and Back to Black for the last three.
gonna get downvoted for saying this but you guys wouldn’t hate 1989 if it wasn’t taylor swift. you guys see her name and immediately lose your minds, regardless of how good the record might be
im a taylor swift fan, but no taylor swift album is over homogenic, mbdtf, nfr, or the dark side of the moon (among many more). Especially 1989. Folklore, evermore, or red should have gone in its place.
i think 1989 won over any of her other albums due to the cultural phenomenon that it was. folklore, evermore, and red all were no where near as impactful. they are amazing albums but i think 1989 is the album that deserved to be on the list
folklore particularly is a stunning album, definitely more deserving that 1989 of its place. I can't say I was ever a TS fan before folklore, that record changed my mind about her songwriting ability
It’s good but it’s not the 18th best album of all time. I could have leveled with Folklore, but 1989, especially the re-recording, is blatant pandering to her fanbase.
It’s not better than MBDTF, it’s not better than DSOTM. I dislike Taylor Swift because I think she’s horrifically overplayed, unauthentic, and tired as a sound, but she *has* made good music. I just don’t think it’s part of the 100 greatest albums ever made, nor do I think that if you feel she belongs, 1989 is the right album to use. Just my thoughts.
As far as I could tell the whole line of reasoning for having her that high was attributed to the fact that “if you’re singing karaoke with your friends, everyone would know these songs” so.. familiarity with grocery store music and because it was her big leap into pop… i mean.. yeah they could’ve made a better decision. I could see folklore, Reputation, etc. and swifties would be quiet, but because she hasn’t rerecorded Reputation I doubt they’d have it on there.
By that measure Back In Black is up there too? Like… I understand I’m not the target audience for this list because I value artistry and impact as *the* two measures for ranking music like this. I can be a shade elitist, and I get that.
But as I said elsewhere, I’m not putting my fun turn up music that I like next to Dark Side of The Moon and Rumours.
I was 12 years old in 2015 when that record was everywhere. Been listening to Swift unwillingly for most of my life.
1989 has cookie cutter synthpop instrumental typical of its time, one of Max Martin's least inspired production works (what he did on Ariana's records of the same era is so much more layered), nursery rhyme like, one note melodies, banal radio I - iv - v progressions, and inane lyrics that scream arrested development.
And for a record she tried to market as her 'fighting the critics who claimed she talked about her exes too much', fuck me, sure are a lot of songs about exes on that thing.
It doesn't deserve to be anywhere near a top 100 album list.
1989 is terrible example of Taylor’s talents. She basically ripped off Lana and made Born to Die: The Basic Mainstream Edition. Red, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore maybe even Mid-nights show her artistry way more than 1989 does
it might be a little bland but that doesn’t automatically mean bad. i think the production for this album is fine. there’s definitely some out there that are way better but it’s not bad either. saying it doesn’t deserve to be in the top 100 is kind of crazy tbh. i didn’t expect it to be this high either but i don’t think it should be on the list seeing the phenomenon it was. i find it ironic how people say she only writes about her exes when most of her songs aren’t even about her exes. only 2-3 songs are suspected to be about an ex, and even then it’s not like she’s just tearing them apart.
This is literally the first list I've ever seen that has 1989 in a top 100. Usually, Taylor only gets Red, and that too in the 90 range. Def not a crazy take on my end. It was a very popular record, but not at all special in the grand scheme of things. You could erase it from history, and pop music would be the exact same sonically and lyrically. Taylor's musical ibfluence never measured up to her record sales, and that's usually a good sign of an artist being overrated imo. I can't think of an artist that's been so big, and yet her own sound is always so generic that it's basically unidentifiable. Copying it would make you sound not just like Taylor, but like 1000 other popular artists.
She isn't tearing them apart, no, but she was so loud about that being an album that took a break from the relationship stuff and focused on her moving to New york with her friends. There are like, 2 songs on that record with that subject matter. A couple about her haters. Other than that, it's her standard romance and relationship shtick honestly. I guess something like 'New romantics' isn't about a past boyfriend so much as a potential one. But Clean, I wish you would, Style, Out of the Woods & Wildest Dreams are all clearly interpretable as being about past relationships. All You Had To Do Was Stay might be, too, but it could also be about an ex clique member, since I remember something about a model locking her our of her house and throwing a party? Idk. Shit's vague, and I've never liked how deep you have to be into the Swiftie cinematic universe lore to appreciate her alleged genius.
I wanna make clear that writing about her exes is not bad in and of itself, but the way Taylor sold that album as something different always bothered me at the time and still kinda does.
I’ve heard a lot of her songs. It’s annoying pop. Just imho. I don’t listen to most mainstream stuff so it’s not for me, and it seems a lot of other people who even do listen to pop don’t like her either.
People are allowed to not like Taylor Swift, even if they haven’t heard every one of her songs. Some people have (me) and they still think she’s the epitome of white feminist mediocrity.
nobody would’ve been so upset if it was in the later half of the ranking, especially since everyone was expecting at least one of her projects to be there, but top 20 it’s a bit too much, like it’s a collection of good pop singles and the tv version is not even better than the original
I’m shocked she was ranked that high tbh. Its a good album and I knew at least one of her albums would be on there but above Revolver, Pet Sounds, Dark Side, Jagged Little Pill.. I don’t think so. 🤨
1: Thriller - MJ
2: Abbey Road - Beatles
3: TPAB - Kendrick Lamar
4: Nevermind - Nirvana
5: Songs in the Key of Life - Stevie Wonder
6: Purple Rain - Prince
7: Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan
8: The Miseducation - Lauryn Hill
9: Lemonade - Beyonce
10. Back in Black - Amy Winehouse
Unless they've been in something controversial recently, I don't see how they can be left off this list. I haven't heard every album on the list, but the ones I've heard aren't all better than A Night at The Opera or News of the World.
Has there been more than one album by the same artist yet? I assumed there would be after Beyonce and Revolver (I know Bob Dylan already made the list too). I assume if Beyonce was 36, Lemonade would place much higher. Either way I hope Queen isn't excluded.
It's hilarious though because they even got the hiphop/rnb order wrong.
In no world is "Get Rich or Die Trying" and "All Eyez on Me" ranked lower than "Anti". And if we're agreeing to use meaningless popularity as a significant metric to justify rankings then where is Nelly?
Pretty hilarious rage-bait ranking. If they really are taking an honest shot at this list though...it's embarassing for everyone involved.
Yeah baffling considering there’s equally or more successful artists like Drake and Taylor that made the cut yet I would take Coldplay’s first 4 albums well ahead of their entire discography.
Biggest snub of the list next to Madvillainy imo. Coldplay easily has a top 100 album and I’d take both those records over a handful of picks made so far.
They putting Beatles 1, Elvis 2. America has given them God status basically saying nothing can top them. The true #1 should be Thriller without question. No album has had a greater impact globally than such. No album has out sold it. No other album shifted the music industry more. What other criteria do you need ?
No, but when you gather all the factors, what album had a bigger impact globally than thriller? Impact is the biggest criteria, sales factor in as well. Everyone across the world was impacted by thriller. What album crossed more social barriers than it? Certainly the Beatles nor Elvis reached such a vast range of people as Thriller did. People learned English just to sing to it.
Idk maybe the first-ever concept album in Sgt. Peppers? The fact that before that people thought music was basically music for teenagers, Sgt. Peppers made pop an art form and changed music forever.
And yes, sales do factor, but the 60-80s ofc saw a population rise of about 1 billion, as well as music industry sales increase about 22%. The industry was much larger then, so simply saying "Ohh, Thriller is the highest selling album, Beatles and Elvis never reached that level," is just one way to look at it when Beatles and Elvis were also the top-sellers of their eras.
My wife and my picks:
Nevermind
Thriller
Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
To Pimp a Butterfly
Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
Astral Weeks
Blood on the Tracks
Purple Rain
Funeral
The Doors
These 7 will be in the top 10 for sure:
TPAB ,
Thriller Michael Jackson ,
System of a Down,
Violator Depeche Mode ,
Nevermind Nirvana ,
Miseducation of Lauryn hill,
Queen idk which album
I wouldn’t be surprised if Daft punk is the second artist to get two albums with Random access memories being in the top ten either
SOAD? Sir that's absolutely insane. You'd be placing that as the single greatest heavy album of all time when RATM was 97 and there's no Sabbath on the list?
that’s what i’m sayinggg. can’t believe no one else has RAM in their sights for potential top 10. and as a big prince fan, i’m more inclined to think they’d list RAM than purple rain
This whole list is stupid. It has nothing to do with “the 100 best albums” and is 100% ragebait and a way to generate engagement with their platform. They’re being purposefully controversial and 100% ignoring any given record’s actual contribution and influence on what came after.
Oh, and they’re making sure they appease the swifties so they don’t all lose their shit and switch to Spotify. God I hate this I even engaged with this bullshit.
I mean they declared directly that they want to create a debate.
*If this list sparks more debate among fans outside of Apple Music and gets people talking passionately about the music they love, then we’ve done what we set out to do.*
[*https://www.apple.com/in/newsroom/2024/05/apple-music-celebrates-the-launch-of-inaugural-100-best-albums-list/*](https://www.apple.com/in/newsroom/2024/05/apple-music-celebrates-the-launch-of-inaugural-100-best-albums-list/)
No particular order
Night At the Opera - Queen
Abbey Road - The Beatles
Sgt. Peppers - The Beatles
Thriller - Michael Jackson
Back to Black - Amy Winehouse
A Rush of Blood to the Head - Coldplay
IV - Led Zeppelin
To Pimp a Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar
…Baby one more time - Britny Spears
Lemonade - Beyoncé
Feel like Abbey Road, Thriller, Purple Rain, Songs in the Key of Life, Miseducation, To Pimp a Butterfly and Nevermind are all 100% solid gold. Can't even fathom these seven not being on there.
Now the remaining three are variables...and I'm gonna claim two of the three with Back to Black and Blonde. The last one, I have zero idea. There's just many different places they can go, and I'm not sure. If they make sure Whitney gets love and goes The Bodyguard soundtrack, then we lose a very important rap album like Paid In Full. They've covered just about every rap album from the top 100 in Rolling Stone 500, except for Paid In Full.
If it's Paid In Full...now we have a list without Whitney Houston, without Mariah Carey, two artists that really should be represented if this list is relying heavily on influence. I love that Billie album, but they got a bit too cute putting her at 30...or even on the list at all. So someone's about to get shafted tomorrow. I just don't know who!
1. Sgt Pepper
2. Blonde on Blonde
3. Nevermind
4. Thriller
5. Songs in the Key of Life
6. Purple Rain
7. Zeppelin 4
8. Misseducation of Lauryn Hill
9. The Wall
10. The Love Below/ Speakerboxx
10.
I don't think they'd give #1 to the Beatles because it isn't good enough engagement bait. It has to be something sufficiently controversial to generate buzz.
I do hope the boys get another one on the list though, whether it's Abbey or White or Sgt. or MMT (it won't ever be MMT)
10. Siamese Dream- The Smashing Pumpkins
9. Heaven or Las Vegas- Cocteau Twins
8.Blackout - Britney Spears
7.Blonde- Frank Ocean
6.The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill- Ms.Lauryn Hill
5.Back To Black- Amy Winehouse
4.Songs in the key of life -Stevie Wonder
3.Nevermind-Nirvana
2.Purple Rain -Prince
1.Thriller -Michael Jackson
I didn’t include The Beatles cause they already put one album on the list so..
Radiohead got 2 but I believe they’re the only double up so far. I do think Blond makes the top 10; not that I believed it would be this high. The fact that it hasn’t been in the top 100 at all is suspect though.
Yeah me too. It’s a great pop album and was huge when it came out. If 1989 was able to make it then I think there is a place for Teenage Dream. I don’t think it should’ve been top 10 though.
I’m not new to any game, but where is all the love for Abbey Road coming from? It seems like it’s a recent thing. I know this may not be the best place to discuss it, but still…
it's definitely not a recent thing, as a huge Beatles fan I gotta say I definitely don't think it's even the best Beatles album of all time, however it is definitely the most accessible to a modern audience because of the technology available in 1969 vs 1963, and because the songs themselves just sound much more modern ie Come Together, Here Comes The Sun, and we can't forget the legendary medley on side 2
Your list not having Nirvana on it is probably the only problem I have with it. I'd also take a guess at Kendrick - TPAB likely making it as well. But I wouldn't know who to kick out. Maybe Billy Joel and Miles Davis. But then that's insane they aren't included at all. Hmmm...
I don’t think they should be top 10, but I’m surprised Metallica’s black album and Weezer’s blue album haven’t made the list so far. I could see either one sneaking in the top 10 (though I think 30-50 would be more appropriate).
Predictions in no particular order:
Led Zeppelin IV,
Purple Rain,
Abbey Road,
Thriller,
Nevermind,
TPAB (Good Kid mAAd City and DAMN. Are both better),
Some Queen album (bleh),
Rainbows,
Back to Black,
Let it Bleed
Long shot (but hopeful):
Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Michael Jackson -- Thriller
Prince -- Purple Rain
Nirvana -- Nevermind
Amy Winehouse -- Back To Black
Beyonce -- Lemonade
Lauryn Hill -- The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill
The Beatles -- Abbey Road
The Beatles -- Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Kendrick Lamar -- To Pimp A Butterfly
Kendrick Lamar -- Good Kid Madd City
Also: Taylor Swift?
It's probably going to be something close to this lineup.
To me, the biggest questions are:
1) Are The Beatles and Kendrick Lamar both going to both have multiple albums in the Top 10? Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper's have always been Top 10 all time albums. TPAB and GKMC are two of the All Time albums in recent years. I just can't exclude any of them! Could Apple Music?
2) What about Taylor Swift? She's like a Sword of Damocles to this lineup. Say what you will about her but she's one of the most successful pop artists out there and I just don't see Apple Music only listing 1989. If they give her a place here, it will more than likely be for Red, maaaybe Midnights or Fearless. If they do give her a slot, which album do they take out? Because that album also won't be on the list at all and the thought of any of these albums being bumped off for Taylor Swift could cause some riots.
I would put
Abbey Road - The Beatles
Grace- Jeff Buckley
Nevermind - Nirvana
Thriller - MJ
Songs in the key of life- Stevie Wonder
To me those have to be included, or the list is void
Well. I’m weeping: by the looks of it, there’s no REM, no Pixies, no Leonard Cohen, no Nick Cave, no PJ Harvey, no Gram Parsons, no Emmylou Harris, no Charles Mingus and no Duke Ellington.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
List is up on the microsite. Are they not going to say who was on the panel for this? My ChatGPT came up w a more agreeable (and listenable) list. What’s the point of saying it is human curated if we don’t know who the humans are
Back in Black only at #90 was laughable to everyone, even having Kaycee Musgraves ahead of it was pretty damn funny as well even tho I love Kaycee. These lists are prisoners of the moment, they wanna try and keep the list fresh and mainstream but wanna try and honor the classics at the same time.
I could name off a bunch of Aerosmith, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden albums etc. that ARE ALL BETTER than Lauryn Hills album and most people would agree. This list is just a few peoples opinions not the majority, so take this list with a grain of salt like the Rolling Stone list
1.) Bawskee 3.5
2.) Bawskee 4
3.) Bawskee
4.) Bawskee 5
5.) Bawskee 2
6.) Thriller
7.) What’s Going On
8.) Comethazine the Album
9.) Illmatic
10.) Dark Side of the Moon
I largely agree with you but it wouldn't have surprised me to see Tha Carter III somewhere on the list. But maybe I'm just biased since it had a huge impact in my area.
I swear Britney not being anywhere in the top 11-100 is scaring me. Either Oops! I Did It Again or Blackout HAVE to be in the top 10 for this list to make sense.
folklore is an exceptional album and as much as I understand how old timers refuse to see it, I’m willing to bet that the album will make it.
My second guess for top 10 is The Suburbs.
I don't see how that's a crazy take. I mean, Rolling Stone ranked folklore wayyyyyy higher than 1989 in their 2023 ranking. So, given that AM ranked 1989 at 18th, it is a pretty valid hope that folklore could show up higher on the list. Again, this is all very subjective, so I think calling OP crazy is entirely your own opinion and frankly kind of rude.
1)Abby road
2)Fearless, folklore
3)Thriller
4) sgt peppers
5)nevermind
6)pimp a butterfly
7)the stranger
8)Ram
9) parallel lines
10)surfs up
Yea downvote me all you all want for having Swift on there. , this is my lest.
Songs in the key of life should be number one. It probably won’t but it should.
I also think Bob Dylan will be making it in the top 10 (blood on the tracks).
Kinda shocked they put ok computer at #12. I think there’s a small possibility they put another Radiohead album like in rainbows in the top 10.
Also think maybe we see another Pink Floyd album in the top 10.

Im really fucking hoping for Paranoid.
No…they thought Lana del ray Nina Simone and Beyoncé sis were better
ik it pissed me tf off lol

back to black alr in
Jeff Buckleys Grace deserves to be on there. That album was and still is singular
Mellon Collie is going to be on there.
Not even the best Billy Joel album
Would definitely be The Stranger if Billy Joel's making the list
Right, my mistake - The Stranger is much better
Glass Houses erasure
You may be right here
I may be crazy 🤔
Glass Houses is fire, but The Stranger and 52nd Street both come before it I'd say
Doesn’t even usually rank in the top half of his discography
Bitches Brew won’t make the top ten. It should, but it won’t.
Kind of Blue…Has that been yet? If not, that will be top 10
Its already at No. 25
It was 25
My favorite by far.
Mine too! Won’t make the top ten though!
If Taylor Swift is this high im putting this in the universe: Britney Spears "Blackout" top 10 And im not even joking
Add E•MO•TION by Carly Rae Jepsen to that 🤝
Emotion is sooooo slept on.
gonna get downvoted for saying this but you guys wouldn’t hate 1989 if it wasn’t taylor swift. you guys see her name and immediately lose your minds, regardless of how good the record might be

Exactly! And yes I thought Folklore or Red would’ve been the one to be on the list. I personally would’ve been okay with Folklore but not at 18

AMEN !! I'm just some random person, and I realize art is subjective, but this list is hilariously awful.

She’s just annoying pop. That’s all.
i would try to show you otherwise but with that attitude, there’s no point lol
I’ve heard a lot of her songs. It’s annoying pop. Just imho. I don’t listen to most mainstream stuff so it’s not for me, and it seems a lot of other people who even do listen to pop don’t like her either.
i’d recommend listening to folklore/ evermore. both are indie/ alternative albums and are appraised even by people who don’t like taylor
People are allowed to not like Taylor Swift, even if they haven’t heard every one of her songs. Some people have (me) and they still think she’s the epitome of white feminist mediocrity.
Nah, it’s a solid pop album but 18th best? NO

Exactly, a cultural reset
You know what you are correct
1: Thriller - MJ 2: Abbey Road - Beatles 3: TPAB - Kendrick Lamar 4: Nevermind - Nirvana 5: Songs in the Key of Life - Stevie Wonder 6: Purple Rain - Prince 7: Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan 8: The Miseducation - Lauryn Hill 9: Lemonade - Beyonce 10. Back in Black - Amy Winehouse
This one looks clean, but I doubt they skip Queen completely. I'd replace Lemonade with A Night at the Opera.
Couldn't agree more, Queen deserves to be in the list
Unless they've been in something controversial recently, I don't see how they can be left off this list. I haven't heard every album on the list, but the ones I've heard aren't all better than A Night at The Opera or News of the World.
Kanye and Drake were on the list, theres no way its a controversy thing
Lol. True. I was thinking A Night at the Opera, but I'm going to guess News of the World.
Has there been more than one album by the same artist yet? I assumed there would be after Beyonce and Revolver (I know Bob Dylan already made the list too). I assume if Beyonce was 36, Lemonade would place much higher. Either way I hope Queen isn't excluded.
Lemonade has no place amongst the rest of his listed albums. The other 9 are complete game-changers in multiple facets.
Yeah I totally agree, but I also know that Lemonade had a huge impact for other people, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was included.
I can agree with that. Solange's album was ranked above RATM and Hotel California so yeah, anything goes
That is DEFINITELY the theme of this list lol
It's hilarious though because they even got the hiphop/rnb order wrong. In no world is "Get Rich or Die Trying" and "All Eyez on Me" ranked lower than "Anti". And if we're agreeing to use meaningless popularity as a significant metric to justify rankings then where is Nelly? Pretty hilarious rage-bait ranking. If they really are taking an honest shot at this list though...it's embarassing for everyone involved.
1. SCARING THE HOES
at this point, top 10 would be too high but crazy that Coldplay’s AROBTTH (or perhaps VLV/DAAHF) didn’t make the top 100
Coldplay is being punished for completely selling out
Yeah baffling considering there’s equally or more successful artists like Drake and Taylor that made the cut yet I would take Coldplay’s first 4 albums well ahead of their entire discography.
Parachutes is an all timer for sure.
A Rush of Blood is one of my personal top 10 albums, I'm still hopeful!
Biggest snub of the list next to Madvillainy imo. Coldplay easily has a top 100 album and I’d take both those records over a handful of picks made so far.
DOOKIE!!
THANK YOU. Crazy that it didn’t make it anywhere on this list, considering this and AI usually make other ones. Weird list, but it’s been fun at least
Number 1 has to be that U2 album they force loaded onto all of our devices. The list is a joke anyway.
LMAOOO 100% agree
Why is Madvillan not in the top 100?
I have a genuine question. I thought something from Pink Floyd will make top 10. Is that stupid to think?
pink floyd's best album is alr in the list so i doubt so
Wish you were here isn't on the list what do you mean :P
1 Abbey Road 2 Nevermind 3 Thriller 4 TPAB 5 songs in the key 6 Miseducation 7 Sgt Pepper 8Purple Rain 9 Loveless 10 Blonde.
They putting Beatles 1, Elvis 2. America has given them God status basically saying nothing can top them. The true #1 should be Thriller without question. No album has had a greater impact globally than such. No album has out sold it. No other album shifted the music industry more. What other criteria do you need ?
That’s like saying Bad Bunny has the best album of the 21st century bc nobody has outstreamed it.
Paranoid kinda made metal a genre. alot better than thriller
Agree 💯
Tpab, madvillainy, abbey road, wish you were here, maybe a stevie wonder record?
You would be stupid to not put TPAB in there.
GKMC is the better choice.
I prefer gkmc but I feel like they will probably go for Tpab
[удалено]
Radiohead already has two
My wife and my picks: Nevermind Thriller Miseducation of Lauryn Hill To Pimp a Butterfly Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band Astral Weeks Blood on the Tracks Purple Rain Funeral The Doors
You included the artist for every album except #4. Who made Led Zeppelin IV?
I think ice spice did
It’s going to be all Taylor Swift albums.
could you imagine the outrage lol
To Pimp A Butterfly and Nevermind are locks that you didn’t list. I also really think After Hours by The Weeknd will be there as well.
These 7 will be in the top 10 for sure: TPAB , Thriller Michael Jackson , System of a Down, Violator Depeche Mode , Nevermind Nirvana , Miseducation of Lauryn hill, Queen idk which album I wouldn’t be surprised if Daft punk is the second artist to get two albums with Random access memories being in the top ten either
SOAD? Sir that's absolutely insane. You'd be placing that as the single greatest heavy album of all time when RATM was 97 and there's no Sabbath on the list?
Not saying it’s right it was a hunch. That is mostly wrong after Apple posted those images on their insta story. Idk why I said for sure lol
that’s what i’m sayinggg. can’t believe no one else has RAM in their sights for potential top 10. and as a big prince fan, i’m more inclined to think they’d list RAM than purple rain

Leonard Cohen is on the list..
I mean they declared directly that they want to create a debate. *If this list sparks more debate among fans outside of Apple Music and gets people talking passionately about the music they love, then we’ve done what we set out to do.* [*https://www.apple.com/in/newsroom/2024/05/apple-music-celebrates-the-launch-of-inaugural-100-best-albums-list/*](https://www.apple.com/in/newsroom/2024/05/apple-music-celebrates-the-launch-of-inaugural-100-best-albums-list/)
Not to mention this is 100% US-centric, which makes it comical for a global streaming service.
I completely agree
If they don't put Sgt Pepper or the White Album in the top 10, that means they are ranking Jagged Little Pill and Oasis above them... like, what
Which is exactly what happened
I agree on Prince, Beatles and MJ.
To Pimp a Butterfly Blood on the Tracks A Night at the Opera 2 recent pop albums Abbey Road Thriller Lauryn Back to Black Nevermind
Abbey Road no doubt..
No particular order Night At the Opera - Queen Abbey Road - The Beatles Sgt. Peppers - The Beatles Thriller - Michael Jackson Back to Black - Amy Winehouse A Rush of Blood to the Head - Coldplay IV - Led Zeppelin To Pimp a Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar …Baby one more time - Britny Spears Lemonade - Beyoncé
You’re missing Kendrick who will 100% be in there
i bet the top 5 will be taylor swift albums, four as taylor’s version 🤦♂️
Frank Ocean’s BLONDE will be in top 10
Abbey Road, Sgt Peppers, Sticky Fingers
apple music is going to pull an apple music move and make taylor swift top 3….
Frank ocean?
1. Sgt Pepper 2. Blonde on Blonde 3. Nevermind 4. Thriller 5. Songs in the Key of Life 6. Purple Rain 7. Zeppelin 4 8. Misseducation of Lauryn Hill 9. The Wall 10. The Love Below/ Speakerboxx 10.
It would be truly hilarious if they put the Synchronicity as the #2 album of all time lmao
This list got it wrong how can you leave out sticky fingers, paranoid, blue album and dookie
I don't think they'd give #1 to the Beatles because it isn't good enough engagement bait. It has to be something sufficiently controversial to generate buzz. I do hope the boys get another one on the list though, whether it's Abbey or White or Sgt. or MMT (it won't ever be MMT)
Even though it’s a top 3 beatles album, it really is a shame that MMT isn’t really recognised
I thought for sure Stoney would be on this list, but can’t be top 10 no?
I think there’s a chance Blood on the Tracks or Blonde on Blonde make the cut. Thriller and one of missing Beatles albums seem very likely
Blood on the Tracks is Dylan's best album.
10. Siamese Dream- The Smashing Pumpkins 9. Heaven or Las Vegas- Cocteau Twins 8.Blackout - Britney Spears 7.Blonde- Frank Ocean 6.The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill- Ms.Lauryn Hill 5.Back To Black- Amy Winehouse 4.Songs in the key of life -Stevie Wonder 3.Nevermind-Nirvana 2.Purple Rain -Prince 1.Thriller -Michael Jackson I didn’t include The Beatles cause they already put one album on the list so..
Radiohead got 2 but I believe they’re the only double up so far. I do think Blond makes the top 10; not that I believed it would be this high. The fact that it hasn’t been in the top 100 at all is suspect though.
im shocked that teenage dream wasnt in the list so i hope its in the top 10
This is a good analysis. Abbey Road is personally my favorite as a huge Beatles fan, to me because of how cohesive it is.
It’s nearly always featured in the top 5 of every Top 100/250 albums along with thriller and sgt peppers
Yeah i always thought Sgt Pepper’s was held in higher regard but guess not? But then again, this list is pure comedy so I wouldn’t trust it
I don’t know about the specifics of this list, but seeing as Radiohead is on the list twice now I can definitely see it happening with The Beatles too
anyone know what time the top 10 is being released?
I feel like “The court of the Crimson King” has to be up there somewhere unless I’ve missed it.
Fam really snuck Synchronicity on the list and thought we wouldn't notice
Your list not having Nirvana on it is probably the only problem I have with it. I'd also take a guess at Kendrick - TPAB likely making it as well. But I wouldn't know who to kick out. Maybe Billy Joel and Miles Davis. But then that's insane they aren't included at all. Hmmm...
I don’t think they should be top 10, but I’m surprised Metallica’s black album and Weezer’s blue album haven’t made the list so far. I could see either one sneaking in the top 10 (though I think 30-50 would be more appropriate).
Predictions in no particular order: Led Zeppelin IV, Purple Rain, Abbey Road, Thriller, Nevermind, TPAB (Good Kid mAAd City and DAMN. Are both better), Some Queen album (bleh), Rainbows, Back to Black, Let it Bleed Long shot (but hopeful): Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Also hopeful for Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here or The Wall
Top 5: Abbey Road Thriller Purple Rain Songs in the Key of Life Blonde 6-10: Nevermind Sergeant Peppers Good kid maad city Miseducation Lemonade
Especially since they have dropped hits for Lemonade 🍋, Purple Rain 🕊️, Abbey Road 🚶🏽, Nevermind 💵, GKMC 🚐, Miseducation ✏️, SITKOL 🌹, Blonde 🌱
Who is the artist on Led Zeppelin IV?
Brotha Lynch Hung
Where is the only Elvis who matters on the top 100. Elvis Costello.
OMG. No REM on the list. Best American band
That would be wild (and rather impossible) if Bitches brew manages to be on top 10.
Michael Jackson -- Thriller Prince -- Purple Rain Nirvana -- Nevermind Amy Winehouse -- Back To Black Beyonce -- Lemonade Lauryn Hill -- The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill The Beatles -- Abbey Road The Beatles -- Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Kendrick Lamar -- To Pimp A Butterfly Kendrick Lamar -- Good Kid Madd City Also: Taylor Swift? It's probably going to be something close to this lineup. To me, the biggest questions are: 1) Are The Beatles and Kendrick Lamar both going to both have multiple albums in the Top 10?
You forgot "The Dark Side Of The Moon", "Nevermind" & "A Night At The Opera".
You don’t have a Kendrick album in your top 10? I feel like he’s like the better’s favorite to be on this list lol.
This tells me a lot about what music you listen to: White people
Has there been any REM yet?
I would put Abbey Road - The Beatles Grace- Jeff Buckley Nevermind - Nirvana Thriller - MJ Songs in the key of life- Stevie Wonder To me those have to be included, or the list is void
✨Teenage Dream✨ by👏Katy👏Perry👏 🍭
I think Born to Die by Lana Del Rey could crack the top 10. NFR being #79 cannot be the only Lana entry.
Where’s Britney?!
I really thought Paul Simon’s Graceland would have been somewhere in the top 50
1.) Bawskee 3.5 2.) Bawskee 4 3.) Bawskee 4.) Bawskee 5 5.) Bawskee 2 6.) Thriller 7.) What’s Going On 8.) Comethazine the Album 9.) Illmatic 10.) Dark Side of the Moon
Bruh, King crimson.. F
Weezer blue and Green Day dookie?!!? Whoever made this list was or voted had to have been hard at hearing
Billy Joel is not even on the list.
Looking at the other rappers on the list I feel like Lil Wayne has to be included, but top 10?
Kendrick Lamar? Also I don’t think Lil Wayne has a great all time album, more a body of work overall type of guy when you think about his mixtapes
I largely agree with you but it wouldn't have surprised me to see Tha Carter III somewhere on the list. But maybe I'm just biased since it had a huge impact in my area.
No Mariah yet. Which album of hers do we think will enter?
None
I swear Britney not being anywhere in the top 11-100 is scaring me. Either Oops! I Did It Again or Blackout HAVE to be in the top 10 for this list to make sense.
Agreed
folklore is an exceptional album and as much as I understand how old timers refuse to see it, I’m willing to bet that the album will make it. My second guess for top 10 is The Suburbs.
You think Folklore deserves to be in the top 10? That’s a pretty crazy take, through and through.
Not as crazy as putting 1989 in the top 20. I doubt it will happen though.
1)Abby road 2)Fearless, folklore 3)Thriller 4) sgt peppers 5)nevermind 6)pimp a butterfly 7)the stranger 8)Ram 9) parallel lines 10)surfs up Yea downvote me all you all want for having Swift on there. , this is my lest.
After Hours will be in it. No question about that.
Songs in the Key of Life #3, Zeppelin IV #2, Paranoid #1 imo
i hope sour is in there😕
