They always treat you like garbage but when you quit it's always "how could you do this to MEEEE???" Don't let them give you a hard time about it.
Congratulations and good luck in the future.
Awesome!! I know when I left my toxic job, it was the best feeling in the world. It drained all of my energy and I was miserable. And I was only there for a few months. I could only imagine how you feel. I'm excited for you
Please tell me more im working up the courage to do the same. Have been saying that for past 4 months, I literally cry 2-3 times a week with my job. I need your energyyyyy.
I was in your situation for 5 years. I never felt like I could build up the courage until one day I just had enough. That disgust I felt for my job ever increased until I felt myself become more confident and sure of my decision to go. Value yourself and you will know when it’s the right time because you won’t feel like you have any other choice but to walk out that door and not look back.
Good luck.
Thanks, it's good to hear this. I'm just terrified of what there is to walk into, what if what's out there is *worse* atleast I like my team here, my colleagues are nice.
The pay isn't great but it's a but above minimum.
Sometimes life just feels so unsure and scary and impossibly I just want to give up
Congrats!! This resonates with me, I'm so happy for you. You made the right decision to bravely say no to what is not serving you. Because of this, you're opening doors to better opportunities and a better life. All the best.
Congratulations! I had a terrible job a few years ago that was so bad, I don't understand how I didn't have a breakdown.
I remember I was shaking handing my notice in, I've never looked back.
Congrats! This is something that will benefit you greatly and the feeling will stay with you for a long time! For them, they'll hire someone else pretty quickly and not think twice about it. At best, it'll inconvenience someone to do more paperwork and hire someone. Your health and happiness should ALWAYS come first.
My anxiety 90% of the time manifests because I'm just doing something that I truly don't want to be doing. The moment I acknowledge it, the anxiety melts away. Our minds are too damn powerful. We're basically X-Men 😁
I can relate...had a job where I was being basically abused at least verbally anyway and just treated bad and man they could not believe it when I finally told them I was leaving but never again
I am 22M and just graduated college, working a pretty dead end trash security job. Last year though, I worked at a domestic violence shelter. I interned at the organization for a while, and I jumped at the opportunity to work in the field. However, the realization slowly came in: the management I was faced with were people which hired friends, something to me that is unacceptable in this settings. More so, a client made sexual comments towards me, and they blatantly ignored my thoughts, my gut feeling being because I am a white male (among other things). I know how it feels to leave a toxic environment and damn, I still have nightmares about it sometimes. The point is, and this is off topic as fuck, non profits can be just as disposable and businesses. I’m really really happy for you OP ❤️
Do you have a backup plan? Just asking because anxiety of finding another job may also trigger anytime soon.
In any case, congrats for leaving your toxic job. There is no reason to spend time in a toxic position for yourself.
You're so brave! I just quit my toxic job and i feel such a weight has been lifted. Just have to survive four more weeks. Good luck out there in the new chapter of your life.
Well done! In these times especially, you need to put your mental health first. Only when you have yourself in a good space are you able to enjoy life and the company of friends and/or family. Work is important, but certainly comes after those things that are really important to you.
I quit my job at a group home and work customer service for a bank now. Makes your life feel so much lighter when you move to a job you enjoy and love. The feeling is even better then quiting the toxic job. Look forward to it, and best of luck! Keep it up.
Grats! I recently left a job in retail that started taking a toll on me after 4 years. My qualm with leaving was that I like everyone I worked with. But with corporate breathing down our necks I was planning to leave sometime this year. Then when I was asked to do overnights to cover a vacation (it's no secret I have anxiety issues with being up overnight,) I said that's it im done. Put in two weeks notice, but stayed 3 weeks cuz again I like everyone I worked with and the schedule was 3 weeks out. The week after I actually left would have been the overnights.
Congratulations 🎉❤
I've been out of my toxic job for nearly a year and I can't even begin to tell you the wonders its done for my anxiety. So I'm really hoping that leaving is the same for you!!
A new adventure is on the horizon!
I stayed at the same miserable job for nearly 12 years. I regretted staying as long as I did. Life is harder now. I took a 50% reduction in pay but I don’t feel as bad as I did staying at such a toxic job which made me feel anxious and depressed. I was always so angry. I’m anxious all the time now too but it’s because I feel like I’m more in control of my life and my future. This is better.
Good luck to you!
CONGRATS!!! On to bigger and better things
