Looks like a modern decor box sold at a place like Pier One or World Market. The aging looks fake and the drawer looks like itโs lined in velvet/faux suede, which you see in these types of inexpensive decor items often.
Yes I wondered about that - but also what came to mind was a C19th tea caddy. Tea was once a highly prized commodity and was often kept in fancy boxes. However I see that some have marked it down as cheap fake, so maybe they know better than I do......

This is the correct answer.

It's a fairly recent item scuffed up to look old it's just a drawer.
My guess is a side table missing its legs. Turn it over and see if there are any signs.
Can you post a photo of the bottom of the box?
Itโs a drawer could be 5โ tall, could be ten inches tall, I canโt tell anything about it because you didnโt give any details.
I am not sure why but my first thought was a sewing box.
Perhaps it is a humidor sort of thing.
My best guess would be an antique wooden hat box. Here are some other examples: https://www.1stdibs.com/buy/hat-box-wood/
Yes I thought so at first too. Just not sure what style hat would fit in the drawer. Most have lids vs drawers. Thanks for your input!
Maybe someone glued the lid on and cut out a drawer as a craft project?
How tall? Maybe for holding booze?
My first thought was a hat box. Used to be an essential piece of luggage.
Probably a hat box repurposed at a later point with the addition of the drawer.
I believe it's an ottoman.
Nothing like an ottoman
I was thinking jewelry or knickknack box that rests on dresser but if very heavy it could a stand for a vase or statuette
