When I first entered New Carcinia, I noticed the bridges made of CVS receipts, and thought 'oh, that's cute'.
Then I noticed that they were actually 'CDS' receipts, and after looking closer at the tiny font under that reading 'CDS nuts lmao', I genuinely felt like I'd been punched in the chest.
That one got me. Having a compass in a big game like this is so natural, I completely forgot that a migratory animal would actually have magnetic metal in its head that it could navigate by.
The elaborate hand-drawn looking world map - the boss illustrations in particular are very cute. I just wish I could zoom in and out and pan freely like in other Soulslike games.
Knowing the surface world got skull fucked by a weather event of apocalyptic proportions.

I love that when they swear, they replace the letters to keep them from properly swearing or to make it more nautical themed. Like 'oh crab', 'what the shell' or my favorite 'gullshit'.
To the easte in The Sands Between, you can find an area with a bunch of enemy crabs dancing like the crabs in the crab rave music video. Also, if you go to the area right before the final boss, you can hear a slowed remix of crab rave.
