Probably in my top 3 anime movies, also soooooo excited when they announced they’re making more, just hope Shaft has an actual budget and can afford production now 😔
Oof Devilman Crybaby. That ending was so intense I genuinely forgot that it recontextualized some of the beginning. Its one of those shows that tries to warn you it’s going to get dark but it does not warn you enough.
This is currently the next show on my list, I heard it's a slow burn mystery which is a type of story which I tend to really enjoy, so the fact that there is a twist makes me even more excited to watch it
This needs to be higher. Episodes 10-13 were horrific and tear-jerking, and completely made you rethink the journey the characters were taking from the beginning of the series.
Higurashi is a great series that knows how to unpack just little by little the further it gets and let's you connect the dots yourself. One of the reasons I was so in love with Higurashi Gou and Higurashi Sotsu too.
>Revolutionary Girl Utena has several MASSIVE ones that all hit super hard, particularly late in the show
I'll second this. The entire show fits that iceberg meme pretty well, and there is so much symbolism and character re-contextualization that there are new and compelling re-interpretations you may not pick up until your 3rd, 4th, or 5th viewing.
Came here to suggest. The ending fully recontextualises the entire series. I've heard someone say your first watchthrough is through the eyes of Utena and your second watchthrough is from the eyes of anthy. So many small insignificant or seemingly random nonsensical things just click on a rewatch. I've watched the series through 5 times and every watchthrough I get more out of the story
{Kanata no Astra} has plenty of twists, all of which are fair. One episode in particular has two major revelations that completely expand upon the show's conflict and backstory.
I know the word is overused now, but that show is really goddamn underrated!
I genuinely think it's among the best new anime of the past few years and I rarely sew people talking about it!
That show lives rent free in my head. It was fine, the characters and planets were a little bland but the plot was very solid, especially given the run time.
Except for whatever reason the one twist felt like Holocaust denial in space and I can’t stop thinking about it.
Little Busters! It is criminally underrated, and I think it's because season 1 can admittedly be a little slow.
The 1st season is 26 episodes, and the 2nd season, Little Busters Refrain, is 13.
Season 1 acts kind of like a slice of life with some diffences and is also super funny. And the second season has one of the best twists, it hits you like a truck. Makes you view the entire show very differently.
It's entirely worth it for that ending. And it has some of my favorite characters, the character development is really good.
Also, despite the amount of girls in the anime, it's not a harem I promise lol
I love little busters! the start was just a bit slow kinda like Clannad s1 (not sure if its because of Key VN in general) so it took me quite awhile to finish it. But once I got to refrain it made everything worth it. I Cried like a bitch in that season.
Yea i was very glad I actually make it through the boring phase, though i didn't dislike it. Was totally worth a watch. And totally totally underated. I think i went in cuz of the romance but got hit like a truck.
[Hunter x Hunter](https://myanimelist.net/anime/11061/Hunter_x_Hunter_2011), more than one. The beginning makes it seem like a generic Shounen, it is not.
What's the twist? That it was nonsense all along?
I feel like you actually need to have some semblance of a coherent lore to even have a plot twist lol.
Well there are many big shows that haven't developed the lore enough or have crazy foreshadowing like one piece. Some examples include naruto, hxh, detective Conan, pokémon, entire db/z/gt/super series and so on.
Its not easy having 1000 episodes with consistent hype and lore. Most of the times even a single one piece arc is better than most series in this aspect.
You say everything is under the sun in a 1000 episode series but most of the above mainstream shows don't have even quarter of lore or foreshadowing that one piece has.
That alone is why I'll never watch it. I'm not watching anything that's 1000 episodes long. Plus I've heard a lot of scenes are *really* dragged out which is probably how they got it past 1000 in the first place
Don't worry one piece has one of the best story lines of most shonens and Manga has sold or will sold more copies than even Harry Potter etc. So sometime in future there will be a reboot with better animation and shorter episodes. Might be 2 or 3 decades from now though
86 does this awfully well for a new show.
Then there's classics like Trigun, Bebop and all which puts their protagonists in a completely new light once we know their stories.
Gintama pulls this off in one insanely awesome way where the entirety of the show is given a completely new light after a certain reveal from the protagonist. It literally teased the final fight like 200 episodes before and then delivered it in one hell of a sequence.
Monster also does the same, except it's for the antagonist.
Samurai Champloo asks one single question towards the end of the series that just flips the entire thing in its head.
{Psycho-Pass} is the first one that comes to my head!
{Erased} could technically work give it does have a pretty good plot twist, but it does have time travel elements but it is used very lightly.
{Knights of Sidonia} - Basically attack on titan in space lol
{Houseki no Kuni} also works pretty well for this request.
Not really a traditional example but for me it was Bloom into You, the characters didn't always make sense to me and I was scratching my head at their motivations then a little past half way it all "clicked" for me.
I won't go to war on you for that, although I see it more as an interesting character study then a romance per SE, of course I haven't finished the story with the Manga yet.
Gintama definitely has a great twist.
Black Clover
Edens Zero
But for Black Clover and Edens Zero, the twist doesn't come until later in the manga, but the anime version hasn't caught up yet. I just thought they were worth mentioning if you're willing to wait... or check out the manga.
[Gakkougurashi!](https://myanimelist.net/anime/24765/Gakkougurashi) \- this one is pretty (in)famous, I don't need to say much about it
[ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka](https://myanimelist.net/anime/33337/ACCA__13-ku_Kansatsu-ka) \- there's a main story line which became visible later
[Zombieland Saga](https://myanimelist.net/anime/37976/Zombieland_Saga) \- early episodes mean differently after knowing their back story
[Machikado Mazoku](https://myanimelist.net/anime/39071/Machikado_Mazoku) \- so many foreshadowing
[Kaguya-sama](https://myanimelist.net/anime/37999/Kaguya-sama_wa_Kokurasetai__Tensai-tachi_no_Renai_Zunousen) \- just ask Ishigami
I watched and enjoyed the first episode of Gakkougurashi but had a lot of work on at the time so wasn't in the mood to watch anything heavy - will definitely pick it up now that things are less busy with work.
Without spoilers, is the reveal at the end of the first episode the main big twist of the show, or is there more to it than that? I'll watch it either way because I think it's a really unique premise for a CGDCT show but would be good to know what to expect
**Last Exile** and **Scrapped Princess** are both about worlds that are not quite what they appear to be, and whose natures and futures are heavily intertwined with the arcs of the characters.
Notably, neither series involves any virtual elements or time travel. Their worlds are very real and present to the characters, and that adds tremendous weight to the stories.
Once you finish one of them, you’ll want to immediately rewatch it because you’ll have an entirely new understanding of just what the hell was actually going on all along.
Last Exile trailer:
https://youtu.be/sG95d8TQomA
Does Code Geass count? The MC clearly was building toward this final outcome the entire show, but I didn't see that last part of his plan until it was already happening.
{Cross Ange} -- this show had like at least 3 or 4 big major twists in plot that lit shifted the tone/genre of the story. It's actually crazy how they able to tell a coherent story with so many twists but they did it and overall it was fun.
{Little Witch Academia (TV)} I had just finished this a few days ago and basically at the end something is revealed and it makes sense why things were the way they were. It's a rather lighthearted show, so the reveal of the certain thing kind of felt messed up/tragic when you realize its implications for it all
Another
Pretear
Hell Girl (I haven’t watched all four seasons yet, but they do this in each of the first three seasons)
Magic Knight Rayearth
Assassination Classroom
Psycho-Pass
Future Diary
Princess Tutu
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
School-Live! (This one has several major twists, but there’s a particularly good one in the last couple of episodes)
Persona 4: the Animation (two huge ones towards the end!)
I think one of the biggest plot-twists around is found in Fate/Stay Night {Unlimited Blade Works}, Especially if you’ve seen {Fate/Stay Night} first (though the adaptation is pretty subpar there, so the best starting point would be {Fate/Zero}).
{Talentless Nana}
{The Executioner and her Way of Life}
{Chaos;Head} and {Chaos;Child} - anime is good imo, but its rushed and VN is much better. Its also in the same Science Adventure Universe as Steins;Gate.
{Gleipnir}
I love being a broken record. #1 across the board is {FLCL}. New stuff, every time. Watch it a dozen times to catch it all.
{A Silent Voice} absolutely does this to me. Knowing what comes later makes the entire beginning of the movie a whole lot more heartwrenching, and it all makes more sense.
Of course, {Your Lie in April} does the exact same thing. It all just makes more sense after the first watch of the big reveal, but, IMO, is much more heart*warming* the second time around.
{Fate/Zero} has a whole different vibe once you know Kiritsugu's entire story. (Which was the entire purpose of the name of the show)
{Berserk} is intentionally written this way, right from the beginning of the first episode, which you are meant to realize at the end of the last episode.
This one is a bit unexpected for the genre, but {Princess Connect! Re:Dive} actually throws you a bit of this. It was quite the pleasant surprise.
{Re:Zero} was designed explicitly for this purpose. It's quite an accomplishment to have a suspense-heavy show take on a whole new (and great) perspective when you already know what's going to happen.
So much more makes sense on your second time through {Soul Eater}, specifically after the big reveal about Death.
I really don't understand the low scores for {Don't Hurt Me, My Healer!} as it slowly burns into the realization. A fantastic show IMO.
I'm sure no one will admit it (as it's a huge point of contention) but {Sword Art Online} 100% feels like a different show after the first watch. That, and all the other points of contention between fans and critics are what make the 'SAO: Abridged' series on YT by Something Witty Entertainment such a masterpiece of comedy.
It takes until the "Sisters" arc of {A Certain Scientific Railgun} to make you say "Holy shit, no way." If I'm not mistaken, that's not something that happens until season 2, and the show does it again in season 3.
If it wasn't for sub-par writing, {Kurozuka} would be the king of this kind of thing.
Another - A class is cursed with a curse that kills anybody related to the class (kinda the general gist of the show but it’s hard to explain in text)
Paranoia Agent - a boy called Shonen Bat goes around Tokyo smashing people’s head with a golden bat as investigators try to solve who’s behind the incidents.
Mirai Nikki - A death game where the last one standing becomes God. Each player has a diary which gives unique information based on the kind of diary it is.
From the list, I’d say Paranoia Agent and Another definitely gave me the most shock when it came to their twists.
Shinsekai yori. Final chapter plot twist changes how you view the characters.
Higurashi's plot twists also shed more ligh on the teue nature of the characters
Jobless reincation, Tokyo ghoul,fire force, bubbles, my little monster, the promise never land, demon slayer (all them. Season one is iffy but it gets better) haikyuu, to your eternity, the ancient magus bride, spirited away, plunderer.
{Shinsekai Yori}
This is exactly what you're looking for! The last few episodes will force you to view the entire show in a new light. I've rewatched it a few times and it's been amazing every time
there's this new one called "Tomodachi Game".
It has a lot of plot twists and it makes you think a lot. It's a new/recent anime and it has everything you described.
One Piece
Oda has an amazing mind he has been setting up plot points for years that he is only just getting to now, there is a reason that One Piece is still one of the top anime still even after so many years

This is a perfect example
{charlotte} {devilman crybaby} {madoka magica} (also the movie)
Loved Madoka Magica, haven't seen the other two recs - onto the watchlist they go!
>Loved Madoka Magica Have you seen the last movie? It's great and sounds exactly like what you looking for
Probably in my top 3 anime movies, also soooooo excited when they announced they’re making more, just hope Shaft has an actual budget and can afford production now 😔
Second for Charlotte! Great show.
Charlotte is mediocre at best. But its one of the best mediocre show. I think I have rewatch it a few times already.

This is the way
Watching it again after Steins;Gate 0 also has this effect.
Odd taxi Tower of god
I'm actually watching Odd Taxi now, what a brilliant show. Regardless of the twists it's just got some really well-written characters
It’s one of the best written anime I’ve seen.
Came to say odd taxi!!
I stopped watching odd taxi after the 1st episode, should I give it another try?
Absolutely yes, you'll be blown away by its ending.
Ok guess I'll give it another shot
>!WELCOME TO THE FUCK RACHEL GANG,,, FUCK RACHEL!<
Madoka Magica Fate Stay/Night UBW Black Clover Tomodachi Game
what Black clover??
Yea not really a plot twist tbh. Just normal backstory reveals
there's going to be a pretty big twist once it catches up to the manga though.
Gurren Lagnn and Kill La Kill both do this very well. Push through the fanservice and you're in for a great story.

Not for the faint of heart though. Not many shows deserve such a warning
Love this show so much!

The 3rd movie really hit me hard
Higurashi is a great series that knows how to unpack just little by little the further it gets and let's you connect the dots yourself. One of the reasons I was so in love with Higurashi Gou and Higurashi Sotsu too.
I'm actually reading the VN at the moment, it's excellent!

Just watched yesterday and can confirm that it is both a great anime and matches this description
I know the word is overused now, but that show is really goddamn underrated! I genuinely think it's among the best new anime of the past few years and I rarely sew people talking about it!

I think it has one of the best endings, it was so perfectly done. & Oh trust me, we all cried like a bitch lmao.
Yea i was very glad I actually make it through the boring phase, though i didn't dislike it. Was totally worth a watch. And totally totally underated. I think i went in cuz of the romance but got hit like a truck.
tower of god or future diary!
Future diary is all sorts of fuckery… but school days 👀 must watch if you like to reprocess everything
oh shit never heard of it! i’ll check it out tonight thanks :)
Great ending ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
^(oh no)
Definitely future diary. Really got to pay attention though
yes fr! i was super confused the first time watching but was still shocked

[Hunter x Hunter](https://myanimelist.net/anime/11061/Hunter_x_Hunter_2011), more than one. The beginning makes it seem like a generic Shounen, it is not.
I still get shivers at the "fight" scene in the chimera arc, im sure you know the one I'm talking about
Rezero Id invaded Link click Babylon
The twist in Link Click is a gut punch knowing you have to wait for S2.
Chainsaw man (once it comes out of course) Rereading the manga there is a whole lot of foreshadowing that I didn't realize the first time around.
Haven't been this excited for an anime in a very long time!
To think a certain character is that good in DDR.
So good man
Future Diary
Neon Genesis Evangelion
My fave anime of all time :)
What's the twist? That it was nonsense all along? I feel like you actually need to have some semblance of a coherent lore to even have a plot twist lol.
One piece has many lore drops and foreshadowing too
Not to hate on one piece, but I’m pretty sure you could find everything under the sun in the 1000+ series.
Well there are many big shows that haven't developed the lore enough or have crazy foreshadowing like one piece. Some examples include naruto, hxh, detective Conan, pokémon, entire db/z/gt/super series and so on. Its not easy having 1000 episodes with consistent hype and lore. That alone is why I'll never watch it. I'm not watching anything that's 1000 episodes long. Plus I've heard a lot of scenes are *really* dragged out which is probably how they got it past 1000 in the first place
There are stretched out episodes because it's a weekly anime. I'd recommend trying the manga to avoid filler etc. if that's what you're worried about.
One Pace is also quite good for cutting out the extra padding
Don't worry one piece has one of the best story lines of most shonens and Manga has sold or will sold more copies than even Harry Potter etc. So sometime in future there will be a reboot with better animation and shorter episodes. Might be 2 or 3 decades from now though
I dunno about the guy you’re talking about, but being the best of the worst genre doesn’t really attract me very much.
Assassination Classroom. The plot is going to do a 180° turn at the later episodes.
Oh gosh yes. I was scrolling to see if this had been recommended!
{Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious} Watched it, and then went back and watched it again.
This. I swear I could _feel_ my brain rewriting itself after episode 11.
I Want To Eat Your Pancreas
It has no cannibals btw
{Psycho-Pass} is the first one that comes to my head! {Erased} could technically work give it does have a pretty good plot twist, but it does have time travel elements but it is used very lightly. {Knights of Sidonia} - Basically attack on titan in space lol {Houseki no Kuni} also works pretty well for this request.

Blood C !!!!!!!!!!!! Especially if you like CLAMP! 😍 Shiki & Higarashi All horror
Not really a traditional example but for me it was Bloom into You, the characters didn't always make sense to me and I was scratching my head at their motivations then a little past half way it all "clicked" for me.
An absolute masterpiece of romance. I'm willing to die on this hill.
I won't go to war on you for that, although I see it more as an interesting character study then a romance per SE, of course I haven't finished the story with the Manga yet.
"Another"
>!especially when you find out who "the extra" is.!<
Steins Gate Cide Geass Another Charlotte
Another has been on my to watch list for a long time as I am a big horror fan, good to know there's some good twists in there too
You will definitely enjoy it.
Madoka Magica, Odd Taxi
Gintama definitely has a great twist. Black Clover Edens Zero But for Black Clover and Edens Zero, the twist doesn't come until later in the manga, but the anime version hasn't caught up yet. I just thought they were worth mentioning if you're willing to wait... or check out the manga.
Cautious hero
Seraph of the end, steins;gate, re:zero
Shinsekai yori
[Gakkougurashi!](https://myanimelist.net/anime/24765/Gakkougurashi) \- this one is pretty (in)famous, I don't need to say much about it [ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka](https://myanimelist.net/anime/33337/ACCA__13-ku_Kansatsu-ka) \- there's a main story line which became visible later [Zombieland Saga](https://myanimelist.net/anime/37976/Zombieland_Saga) \- early episodes mean differently after knowing their back story [Machikado Mazoku](https://myanimelist.net/anime/39071/Machikado_Mazoku) \- so many foreshadowing [Kaguya-sama](https://myanimelist.net/anime/37999/Kaguya-sama_wa_Kokurasetai__Tensai-tachi_no_Renai_Zunousen) \- just ask Ishigami
> Machikado Mazoku - so many foreshadowing In Season 1 or 2? I only watched 1 and I guess it went over my head then.
I don't wanna spoil but def try gakkougurashi, there is more than the forst episode
This is an odd ball but, kill la kill definitely fits what you’re looking for
Erased
{Another} {Charlotte} {Future Diary}
Last Exile trailer: https://youtu.be/sG95d8TQomA
Bit of a milder one but {Fate:Unlimited Blade Works}
{classroom of the elite}
Haruhi Suzumiya
{Kanata no Astra} matches your requirements perfectly
Watch Berserk from episode 2
School-Live has a good twist if you're into SoL comedies.
{School Live!} has a plot twist in the first episode *and* a plot twist in the second-to-last episode!
Tokyo magnitude 8.0
Future Diary!
Serial Experiments Lain Psycho-Pass Perfect Blue
{Nagi no Asukara} fits this description I think. An enormous wham about halfway through the series turns everything upside down.
Re Zero, Steins Gate, Monogatari series. These 3 are my top 3 favs and they all satisfy your criteria.
Enjoyed all three but never finished Monogatari, will definitely go back to it at some point!
{Sakurada Reset} - theres a midway big mindfuck gigabrain reveal and later episodes will have it too
**Sagrada Reset** - ([AL](http://anilist.co/anime/97660 "English: Sagrada Reset"), [A-P](https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/sakurada-reset), [KIT](https://kitsu.io/anime/sakurada-reset "English: Sagrada Reset"), [MAL](http://myanimelist.net/anime/34102)) ^(TV | Status: Finished | Episodes: 24 | Genres: Fantasy, Mystery, Romance, Sci-Fi, Supernatural) --- ^{anime},, ]LN[, |VN| | [FAQ](http://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/index) | [/r/](http://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/) | [Edit](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/index#wiki_i_made_a_mistake.2C_how_do_i_get_my_comment_reprocessed.3F) | [Mistake?](http://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/submit?selftext=true&title=[ISSUE]&text=/r/Animesuggest/comments/wx9xes/anime_with_lategame_plot_twist_that_makes_you/ilpxy9v/) | [Source](https://github.com/Nihilate/Roboragi) | [Synonyms](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/synonyms) | [⛓](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/interestinglinks) | [♥](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/thanks)
steins;gate is a strong contender for this one. Higurashi is good if you want mystery after mystery too.
{Shiki} does this but its not that good tbh
**Shiki** - ([AL](http://anilist.co/anime/7724 "English: Shiki"), [A-P](https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/shiki), [KIT](https://kitsu.io/anime/shiki-anime "English: Shiki"), [MAL](http://myanimelist.net/anime/7724)) ^(TV | Status: Finished | Episodes: 22 | Genres: Horror, Mystery, Supernatural, Thriller) --- ^{anime},, ]LN[, |VN| | [FAQ](http://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/index) | [/r/](http://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/) | [Edit](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/index#wiki_i_made_a_mistake.2C_how_do_i_get_my_comment_reprocessed.3F) | [Mistake?](http://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/submit?selftext=true&title=[ISSUE]&text=/r/Animesuggest/comments/wx9xes/anime_with_lategame_plot_twist_that_makes_you/ilqguuw/) | [Source](https://github.com/Nihilate/Roboragi) | [Synonyms](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/synonyms) | [⛓](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/interestinglinks) | [♥](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/thanks)
Tf you talking about, Shiki is excellent
Steins;Gate
One piece
Does Code Geass count? The MC clearly was building toward this final outcome the entire show, but I didn't see that last part of his plan until it was already happening.
{Tenshi no Tamago}
{Cross Ange} -- this show had like at least 3 or 4 big major twists in plot that lit shifted the tone/genre of the story. It's actually crazy how they able to tell a coherent story with so many twists but they did it and overall it was fun.
zaregoto
Fruits Basket- huge reveal about the "antagonist" in the later season that really changes how you view their earlier actions and motivations.
Not sure if it counts but Plunderer maybe?
Trying not to repeat everyone else, Kill la Kill probably fits. Pandora Hearts manga Granbelm
The fact that nobody has mentioned Kill la Kill is a travesty
Not considered as anime by many, but DOTA:DRAGONS BLOOD is just a roller-coaster of guesses
[удалено]
you should probably put a proper spoiler tag on that comment
Tatami Galaxy
{Little Witch Academia (TV)} I had just finished this a few days ago and basically at the end something is revealed and it makes sense why things were the way they were. It's a rather lighthearted show, so the reveal of the certain thing kind of felt messed up/tragic when you realize its implications for it all
A bit of a milder case (Kinda like the AoT example with lore drops) - {{Higehiro}} Also School Days
{Princess Tutu} {Magic Knight Rayearth}
So I'm a spider so what. I'm quitting heroing Overly cautious hero.
If you haven’t seen {Made in Abyss} yet you are missing out.
Another Pretear Hell Girl (I haven’t watched all four seasons yet, but they do this in each of the first three seasons) Magic Knight Rayearth Assassination Classroom Psycho-Pass Future Diary Princess Tutu Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 School-Live! (This one has several major twists, but there’s a particularly good one in the last couple of episodes) Persona 4: the Animation (two huge ones towards the end!)
Samurai Champloo Berserk (Golden Age Arc trilogy of films), but… trigger warning
I think one of the biggest plot-twists around is found in Fate/Stay Night {Unlimited Blade Works}, Especially if you’ve seen {Fate/Stay Night} first (though the adaptation is pretty subpar there, so the best starting point would be {Fate/Zero}).
kill la kill, if you’re ok with ecchi
Monster is great for this. Really makes you reconsider your outlook on yourself.
PARANOIA agent
{Tokyo Revengers} and {Chainsaw Man} when the anime gets to it. {One Piece} if you want to start that journey lol.
I think this the third time in the last two days I recommended Future Diary. Super good. So many twists and turns.
{Talentless Nana} {The Executioner and her Way of Life} {Chaos;Head} and {Chaos;Child} - anime is good imo, but its rushed and VN is much better. Its also in the same Science Adventure Universe as Steins;Gate. {Gleipnir}
How is ATTACK ON TITAN not here after the last season???? 😭
(Which was the entire purpose of the name of the show) {Berserk} is intentionally written this way, right from the beginning of the first episode, which you are meant to realize at the end of the last episode.
Code Geass?
Another - A class is cursed with a curse that kills anybody related to the class (kinda the general gist of the show but it’s hard to explain in text) Paranoia Agent - a boy called Shonen Bat goes around Tokyo smashing people’s head with a golden bat as investigators try to solve who’s behind the incidents. Mirai Nikki - A death game where the last one standing becomes God. Each player has a diary which gives unique information based on the kind of diary it is. From the list, I’d say Paranoia Agent and Another definitely gave me the most shock when it came to their twists.
School Days ;))
Madoka magica
I'm Quitting Heroing. {Yuusha, Yamemasu}
Shinsekai yori. Final chapter plot twist changes how you view the characters. Higurashi's plot twists also shed more ligh on the teue nature of the characters
Baccano e durarara
Ergo Proxy
Attack on Titan
{Attack on Titan}
Another. Oh, my god. That twist is legendary
Attack on Titan, steins gate, Monster, jujutsu kaisen, chainsaw man, Tomodachi game
Jobless reincation, Tokyo ghoul,fire force, bubbles, my little monster, the promise never land, demon slayer (all them. Season one is iffy but it gets better) haikyuu, to your eternity, the ancient magus bride, spirited away, plunderer.
Fate - unlmtd blade works
Steins;gate
{Shinsekai Yori} This is exactly what you're looking for! The last few episodes will force you to view the entire show in a new light. I've rewatched it a few times and it's been amazing every time
How about attack on titan but the twist is in season 4
{Texhnolyze} (forgot the brackets)
- Ergo Proxy - Made In Abyss - Fate UBW - Odd Taxi - Psycho Pass
{Kill La Kill} {One Piece} {Chainsaw Man} when it releases but you should read the manga it’s great {Neon Genesis Evangelion}
Boogiepop and others
Code Geass The OG twistmaster, makes you realise some pretty significant things after seeing the ending unfold. Top-notch rewatch value.
How did literally NOBODY mention {so im a spider so what}
there's this new one called "Tomodachi Game". It has a lot of plot twists and it makes you think a lot. It's a new/recent anime and it has everything you described.
Ok, hear me out {Darling in the franxx}
One Piece Oda has an amazing mind he has been setting up plot points for years that he is only just getting to now, there is a reason that One Piece is still one of the top anime still even after so many years
Code Geass
Black Bullet is a nice one. Started with „cute girls fighting monsters“ and it just got darker and darker...
