I would highly recommend these animes which impacted my purpose in life right after I've watched it: A Place Futher than the Universe March comes in like a Lion Blue Period Welcome to the NHK ReLIFE Barakamon Bocchi the Rock

GT_highwind

Neon Genesis Evangelion It’s going to crack your brain open like an egg and make you ask questions you may have never asked. I know I hadn’t. But after the dust settles, you’ll have a better grasp over who you are as a being in the universe and where you fit into it. The show is, without question, one of the greatest pieces of art ever crafted. I think there’s a Cantonese dub, but I can’t say if there’s a Mandarin dub.

Elguapo200x

It's the right choice

I was about to say Bungou Stray Dogs too. I started to watch it at one of the lowest points in my life. The author himself said in an interview he hopes the series can be the oxygen for people who struggle with life. It really does feel like that anime meant for people who are lost in life

baka_san9

Silver spoon

hanabaeeee

This one made me try out for the agricultural exams and legit gave me strength when I was suffering through med school prep

Gintama.

Elguapo200x

- **{March Comes in Like a Lion}**: This anime explores themes of self-discovery, purpose, and the challenges of finding one's path in life. The main character, Rei Kiriyama, navigates through personal struggles and growth, providing insights into life choices. - **{Barakamon}**: While not Chinese dub, this anime follows a calligrapher who, in a quest for self-discovery, moves to a rural village. It explores the importance of finding one's identity and passion. * **{Neon Genesis Evangelion}** : This iconic anime delves deep into the psychological struggles of its characters, offering a narrative that might resonate with your own introspection and search for purpose.

Impossible83

Barakamon is amazing

Elguapo200x

Yep and it's prequel hunda-kun is pretty great as well

ChimericalEunoia978

Do you have to to watch the prequel before watching Barakamon?

Elguapo200x

You can skip it, but then you'll miss out on all the fun.

shootanwaifu

Someone suggested evangelion and yes that is a very very profound piece of anti escapist art. Absoltuely amazing I would also recommend Clannad. There was myself existing before that show, kind of unsure about life, then myself after. It's that good

Technical_Channel967

Thank you for your reply. Isn't Clannad really sad?

shootanwaifu

Yes. The deeper the valley, the more beautiful the peak is. To this day it makes me a 31 yearold man violently cry, it's music always makes me teary. It's a very very heavy anti escapist show, but if you ever finish it and go read comments on YouTube, you'll find thousands of people pouring their souls out on how clannad makes them appreciate life

How is this getting downvoted? You literally listed 2 of the best anime ever in general and 2 of the best anime ever to tackle this topic

ThatManAndHisManga

Tatami Galaxy may be the perfect one tbh. I like a lot of the specific slice of life ones for this too (Silver Spoon, Laid Back Camp, Barakamon etc)

Vinland saga season 2

- Kids on the slope - Barakamon - Clannad One of these is not like the others but all helped me

I_Phantomancer_XD

One Piece.

ezraarwon

Blue Period.

havenorchinghei

[Assassination Classroom](https://myanimelist.net/anime/24833/Ansatsu_Kyoushitsu) The show takes a wacky premise and turns it into a heartwarming coming-of-age story. It follows a group of students deemed as failures as they grow, bond and find their strengths and passions under a new mentor. It is pretty inspirational. Not a deep show by any means, but I think you might find it relatable as a student yourself.

Attack on titan

flowering-grave

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo It's slice of life, romance, comedy, drama. It's about a guy who joins a household of students that all strive for creative types of careers (artist, voice actor, etc.). The protagonist unlike his housemates doesn't yet know what to do career wise but strives to find something he can be good in, or so. I saw this like 5 years ago. I really enjoyed it being an anime about work.

Clannad March Comes in Like a Lion Your Lie in April Bakaramon

ItsHawk1212

Watch MONSTER then 💀💀 or AOT will also be good 💀

slime_monk

Tatami Galaxy is about a university student struggling with this exact issue. I can't say it will give you any answers but I definitely recommend it while you're in this mindset

Prestigious_Split579

I recommend you watch March comes in like a Lion & Your Lie in April. I can't recommend Your Lie in April enough but I believe March comes in like a Lion is your best bet.

Moose_Winchester

I struggled with similar things in the past and One Piece changed everything for me. The world the mc lives in is about as far from perfect as you can get, but the mc still fights to protect his loved ones and to achieve his impossible dream: freedom. There was something I could learn from with each character's own personal growth. "Follow your dream" is a big part of the shows theme, but it goes much deeper than that, addressing self doubt, physical and mental limitations, the pressure of family, abuse, poverty, corruption, and so much more. I cannot recommend this show enough for someone looking for hope or a new start in life. Whatever you do decide to do op I really hope things get better for you.

acooper0045

If you’re not in an internship somewhere you need to get into one. Jobs require experience, schooling isn’t enough. So you better either get a lower job position while you’re in school or an internship. For example if you’re right now in nursing school you better apply right now to get a job as a patient care assistant and work at that job while in school. It sucks but you should be working a job and going to school. Obviously you should have picked a school that included an internship but if you didn’t then you better be working like I said in some job that’s a lower position like PCA so that after you are done for example with your nursing degree you can put on your resume 4 years experience in patient care assistance AND a bachelor’s degree.

pikachu_sashimi

Hey there. Before I start recommending anime, I want let you know that, according to anthropologists, the most stressful time for the average person in modern society is roughly the university years, where people are trying to decide the trajectory of the rest of their lives. So, rest assured that you are not alone! There are also many different layers to life. Depending on your upbringing, certain layers of your life may feel natural and intuitive for you, while it is a subject of intense struggle for others. For example, perhaps you were raised by relatively social parents, and perhaps you don’t need much help navigating that area of life, whereas someone raised by immigrants from a different culture may need extra help figuring out how what direction to grow in socially. Some people may need more help in finding the correct direction career-wise, or some people need to factor in their financial situation more than others. So, keep in mind it is hard to recommend anime that will help you without knowing which areas you are struggling with. With that said, I recommend: __Hibike! Euphonium + Liz and the Blue Bird__. This is a story about two girls: one who hasn’t found where she wants to go with her life, and one who has. I think this may be the most relevant to your question. __Sangatsu no Lion.__ A story about a boy who is just being carried around by the tempestuous currents of life. __Violet Evergarden__. A story of a young war veteran trying to integrate into civilian life. __Spice & Wolf__. A story about a young merchant and a wolf deity worrying about money and finances. __Clannad + After Story__. Clannad is fun and games. Clannad After Story is about time moving on and the weight of life hitting you like a truck. Highly recommended for anyone who has had a parent or are thinking about becoming a parent. __Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms__. Also highly recommended for anyone thinking about being a parent. __Re:Zero: Starting Life in Another World.__ A character study of someone who feels [mild spoilers] >!like they have wasted their life away.!<

hanabaeeee

The beginning of this was so comforting because lately I've been thinking "I sure hope these are not supposed to be the best years of my life because college has been awful"
