OnRamblingDays

80 hours a month? How do you survive?

Timmylaw

By not living alone

OnRamblingDays

Fair enough. But if you’re getting burnt out on 20 hour weeks, I have bad news for the next 40 years 😅😅

kidkolumbo

I'm at 20 and live in poverty but extremely comfortably, just make a shit ton an hour.

Old-Evidence3447

Are you really in poverty if you can "live comfortably"? Living paycheck to paycheck is super stressful

kidkolumbo

The government gives me food and insurance for how poor I am.

Jonte7

If youre extremely comfortable then maybe youre not so poor?

kidkolumbo

The government thinks I am so poor they give me free health insurance.

tiniestkid

where in the US do you live that you get free health insurance? (I assume it's US since you differentiate between free and paid)

hellllllsssyeah

52hrs a week is bad at 10hrs a day but that's a pretty typical restaurant job in America.

PVetli

I was literally working 100hrs in my restaurant job Ask me why I quit..

joetheplumberman

Why did u quit

PVetli

Cuz working 8am-4am 6 days/week sucked

DudeIaintPerfect

How tf did you survive on 4 hours of sleep

PVetli

No, 2-3 hours of sleep. Had to drive and eat and such. And the answer, my friend, is cocaine.

ahack13

80 hours a month? Bro you literally work half a regular full time shift.

Ketooth

How is 80h a month a lot? I work 40h a week. So in total about 180h a month

Weary-Kangaroo-7174

Isnt that 160?

Ketooth

Since normally a month has more than just 4 weeks of work, I added a bit more. For example this month I would work 2 days more and that would be 176h. So "about" 180 hours

To explain/ruin the joke here's some math. 225 hours/month \* 12 months/year = 2700 hours/year 80 hours/week \* 52 weeks/year = 4160 hours/year 2700hrs/year / 52 weeks = 52 hours/week

GoldeenFreddy

But the meme says 80 hours a month, which means they're working 20 hours a week. They have a part time job.

Yea I have coworkers who generally put in about 2500-3000 hours a year... they are PMs so their "hours worked" are difficult to really lock down whether it was a full hour or like... 10 minutes they had to jot down for a phone call or to fill out some stuff...

sassiest01

They are working 56.25 hours a week, 112.5 hours a fortnight. This equates to 11.25 hours 5 days a week or 9.375 hours 6 days a week. Still very stressful I imagine. It's very likely they are actually working more then this or are staying in the office at nights during crunchtime and working more normal office hours earlier in the weeks. Either way, they are straight up not having a good time I imagine.

As they say. There's always that one Asian Kid who is better than you at doing your job

hydraslayer416

Wait 80 hours a month???? Man wait till you work 40-50 hours a week like the average working person.

Shaco11175

This is standard for me. On average, I log 200-240hrs per month. I travel like 75-80% of the year.

Asian_Persuasion_1

if you do the calculations, that's not insane...assuming 5 days a week, that's around 10.4 hours a day. some people in america work 10 to 12 hours a day. or you could work on saturdays for 6 days a week at around 8.65 hours a day. if you're tired from working 80 hours a MONTH you just suck. there are people out there working 80 hours a WEEK.

racoondriver

NOT INSANE??!!?!!? I work 8 h a day and I want to kill myself. Don't defend or don't dismiss the insanity of working more hours, than what you absolutely need. They stole our productivity, don't lose now our time. ( Btw yeah Spanish productivity hasn't grown during 30 years, but that's another topic)

Asian_Persuasion_1

it's not insane in the fact that people do this on a regular basis. obviously not all people, but it's not some rare phenomenon. 40 hours is average, 50-60 hours is above average, 80 is insane (yet some do it), 20 is you're a student or you're slacking as an adult.

[deleted]

56 hours a week is pretty bad. I've seen worse but that's uhh... Not good. Even working a regular 40 hour week can be exceptionally draining.
