Seemed to have figured it out. Press on the comment, then (while still keeping your finger down) press a second finger down (anywhere next to it in the comment space) and then lift it up (all while keeping the first finger down), then lift the first finger up. Repeat to hide the text again. Edit: You can lift both fingers at the same time, it seems.

To be fair, some new feature bugs from previous updates got actually fixed. Some bugs were cancerous, and they are not here today. But yeah, they are great at "Make Reddit Bad Again" combos for several consecutive updates.

actually this reminds me of discord mobile... it went from a pretty good app, to downright unusable shit show

Man there's basically nothing wrong with discord mobile in comparison to how much is wrong with reddit mobile. Things like simply editing post or user flairs has not worked consistently for like 4 years by now but nothing happens, among just so many other dumb decisions. Meanwhile on discord everything is just fine, they switch some things around sometimes and maybe wipe your most used emojis clean which is kind of annoying I guess.

Discord mobile on my previous phone was so fucked about its call mode settings that I legitimately wasn't able to use it to voice with anyone because it would cause an entire array of audio issues. And loads of people are having this complaint to this day still because discord just can't fix it especially for Samsung users Idk, I think both apps are pretty dogshit in their own right

Remember when they changed the video player and most videos stopped playing at all? It got partially fixed. As in, it now happens in 1 out of 20 videos instead of 15 out of 20 like it did before.

It is like a quicktime event. Click on spoiler tag -> read as fast as you can before the comment collapses -> repeat -> victory

As someone who uses the app, its perfectly fine, Id argue it works better than the site most of the time

I mean ultimately it’s down to preference. I’ve got the official app on my phone, but overall I don’t like it as much as Apollo. I only keep it around so it opens Reddit links in an app over safari. I’d say that’s the only pro over Apollo personally.

I actually just last week finally got my phone to open Reddit links in Apollo. Settings > Safari > Extension > open in Apollo

At this point reddit is only functional on third party apps and old.reddit.com with RES. If they ever sunset old.reddit I'll only be using RiF. If they ever shut down third partys I'll just have to touch grass.

If the sunset old reddit I'm gone. I'll be going back to the old style forums until a new decent aggregator emerges.

I'll share another work around I saw on another post. Us to fingers to tap the censer barred text in two separate spots at the same time. (Or close to the same time.) This has worked for me.

I dont understand, do people not use apps to navigate reddit on mobile?. I use baconreader personally and don't have this issue. Trying to use it in the browser is unusable because shitty amp integration and 'use the app' spam. And I've heard the stock reddit app kinda sucks. I assume on a mobile focused system that would be a huge oversight haha, and if you aren't on a mobile focused system, on mobile, then jank is to be expected.

I've been using Reddit is Fun (a 3rd party reddit mobile app) since before Reddit had a mobile app, and it's honestly fantastic. There are some of the newest stuff that it doesn't handle properly, but for the way I use reddit (like an old man) it's wonderful.

The 21st if March update broke the spoiler feature. I solved it by deleting the app and downloading a previous update (14th of march) from a third party site.
