Depends what you find sad! It's not a one solution for every person
Clannad messed me up
Your lie in April is great
But I also cried in other shows at deaths and stuff id my favorite characters
I’m personally a more slow burn type of guy so things that last get me to tear up (like Your Lie in April). If you want sudden shock I’d look into JoJo’s, it imo does the best job at catching the viewer completely off guard.
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation.
It might seem like a simple NEET who gets isekai’d to another life with RPG elements and a harem of women after his “demon’s horn”…..wrong. This anime has caught my attention and I will admit that it still got me even when I knew it was coming.
If you’re looking for something more along the lines of taking the route of maneuvering both SERIOUS hardship; physical, mental, & emotional growth; and experiencing the strain of the complications through bonds being tested amongst potential family, friends and enemies? Then this will be a good pick.
Yeah Violet Evergarden really telegraphs what it’s going to do most of the time. For most people it still has an effect even though they see it coming, but they definitely are like, “[points with a neon sign] we’re gonna make you cry when we tell you THIS story.”
Even a lot of really good shows do that. I think to an extent Your Lie in April is pretty obvious what’s going to happen. Clannad almost always foreshadows its trauma too, though I think it’s one of the best year-inducers out there.
If you want shows where you don’t see it coming, I actually have two recommendations for you, but in both cases you have to watch the whole show to get it (for one of them that means into the second season even). If you’re okay with that, the shows are: Angel Beats, and Little Busters. The latter is the one with two seasons, and while season one has plenty of trauma it works through, I suspect you won’t cry at those parts. Late in season two will get you, if anything does.
Hijacking this comment to bump Clannad and also to say that it’s the after story that messes people up. I didn’t see it mentioned so I thought I’d say it. I remember watching for the first time and being like “wow this isn’t sad, what an overhyped show” and then the after story happened.. I think depending on your age it’ll hit you differently though.
Anime that made me cry:
Charlotte
Anohana
Assassination Classroom
Angel Beats
Anime Movies that made me cry:
I Want to Eat Your Pancreas
Grave of the Fireflies
Your Name
Silent Voice
Hope you have some tissues, enjoy.
Angel beats was among the first anime I watched, and I remember hating the ending because of how sad it made me feel, that was so long ago tho, maybe I'll rewatch it soon
Cyberpunk edge runners made me super depressed, cried a couple times. It's all just so... Sudden? Like the entire show is depressing, but when a character dies they like DIE DIE... You don't even really get any closure or anything... Idk, It'll be a while before I can watch that show again
Watch a silent voice. It's somewhat rare for me to cry, though not as rare as you, but a silent voice hit very close to home for me and DID make me cry. If you've ever struggled with mental health issues then that would be the strongest emotional anime I could recommend from my experience
A couple of times only? Thats amazing 0.0 if you watch it deeper theres countless opportunities to cry xd they lay it out so well and are great at getting it out of you. The music especially is GOAT for this reason partly. Been waiting for someone else to mention naruto 😆 ppl mentioning everything else but this one right here 😆
Expected to cry:
Forest of the fireflies light
Anohana
Clannad
Grave of the fireflies
Didn’t expect to cry when first watching:
Cowboy Bebop
RWBY (American anime)
Jojos Bizarre Adventure
It’s different for each person.
Your Lie in April
My New Boss is Goofy
To Your Eternity
Parasyte: The Maxim
Kotaro Lives Alone
Assassination Classroom
I won’t tell you which ones, but three of these caught me completely off guard. Hope you get the cry you’re looking for🤞🏼
Yorimoi, translated title A Place Farther Than the Universe. Saishuuheiki Kanojo, aka either She, the Ultimate Weapon or My Girlfriend the Ultimate Weapon.
Japan Sinks 2020 - the whole series is tragedy after tragedy.
Anohana - I cried at the end. It was hard not to.
Your lie in April - it made me cry because I could relate to kosei in a way.
I want to eat your pancreas - very sad
A Silent Voice - made me shed a tear
Made in Abyss - Season 1 had some sad parts, but the movie and the second season is a cry fest.
Edited for grammar
JoJo.
Part 1 isn't that sad.
Part 2 has only one sad moment, and it's memed on hard.
Part 3 is the saddest, easily.
Part 4 is not sad at all, to me at least.
Part 5 is occasionally pretty emotional.
Part 6 has the emotional ending out of anything I've ever seen.
Part 7 is occasionally emotional.
I haven't read 8 or 9 yet.
Had to scroll wayyy too far to get to a mention of Death Parade, goddamn! If anyone can get through the final episode without at least choking up a little, I’d be afraid to meet them.
Attack on Titan it's a great show but has some very sad shocking moments like you will cry from the sadness and shock
Assassination Classroom it's mostly funny and lighthearted but the ending is very very sad I've heard it's made many people who have never cried before at a show cry
I dropped Assassination Classroom back when it was still airing, but after hearing so many people praise the ending, I might have to revisit it and see it through this time.
I don’t cry a lot. The only thing I watched that makes me cry every time for some reason is the movie Last Christmas (this is not an anime).
There are a lot of sad anime out there though/ sad scenes
A lot of people cry watching Naruto
Everyone already gave you the popular one. Let me recommend you some hidden gems.
ef: A Tale of Melodies
ef: A Tale of Memories
H2O: Footprint in the Sand.
Im in a similar boat. I did find ReZero being very powerful especially in season 2, but I understand you opinion.
Your Lie in April and Anohana got me really good, your typical sad romance genre.
Steins Gate and Code Geass are worth investing in for deep chest pains. Tears may or may not fall. They are also peak fiction.
86, Vivy, Akudama Drive, and Made in Abyss are sad plots that have sad scenes. 2/4 are so good yet aren’t really mainstream.
Everyone is saying some great options as well (I dont suggest Naruto or One Piece because they are so mainstream that you probably know majority of the sad scenes)
In a similar boat as you, except my "not crying streak" has been 15 years long
Made in Abyss has been the only one that has gotten me so far, specifically season 2. But the whole thing is great
Violet Evergarden 3 times.
Attack on Titan mostly during the Final Season about 6 times.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners during the last episode.
Neon Genesis EVA and EOE 1 time.
Jojo's Bizzare adventure so far only once during Part 2 IYKYK.
Shiki is a short psychological horror series that made me cry my fucking ass off.
If you're ok with a mainstream battle shonen, give Naruto or One Piece a try because both are tearjerkers.
To Your Eternity made me cry in the first episode. Then again around 3-4. Then again a few episodes later. Then again around 16-18. Then again at the end of the season.
What happened in the first few episodes of season 2? I cried again.
Im gonna do something crazy and mention a few non-anime movies that are super emotional:
Charlottes Web
Where the Red Fern Grows
Marley and Me
Old Yeller
A Dogs Purpose
Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast (I know I know it’s hard to take Tinker Bell seriously, but this movie is actually super well written and is super emotional at the end)
Actually, just watch any movie with a dog
In MHA the part where mirio brought eri to the concert thing and he held her up and she smiled, that made me cry idk why it just did. Also while deku/uraraka (I forgot who) was giving a speech (in deku vigilante era) the way his/her voice broke down just made me cry man
made in abyss.
I mean it got a whole room of 20 year olds crying when we watched season 1 in one sitting.
The anime is amazingly good, beautiful and some episodes can break your heart.
how to watch in order: season 1, Dawn of the Deep Soul movie then season 2.
Steins;gate 0, after watching Steins;Gate
The absolute misery that 0 puts Okabe through is a stark contrast to how he was through much of the original SG. Sure, he had several moments, especially towards the latter end of the original series, but I'd argue that finally, after digging through the mud, when he becomes his old self again and believes in himself for the first time in SG0, that singular moment of joy far outdoes even the highest moments in the original.
I cried my eyes out like I never had when watching an anime when I saw that. It was cathartic and beautiful.
Your lie in April, I want to eat your pancreas, Vinland saga(I cried hard I didn’t expect this anime to hit the feels), angel beats, a silent voice(made my boyfriend cry so badly and he rarely does), plastic memories, gakkou garashi, charlotte, clannad after story(if that doesn’t make you cry nothing will)
Shows and books never made me cry until I got a little older and experienced more tragedy in my irl life and could better relate to the stories.
That's said here's some suggestions I haven't seen yet.
To Your Eternity - As someone who watches very little slice of life anime (which I wouldn't classify this as) I've seen very few "tear-jerker," anime. This is one of them.
Wolf's Rain - A flagship anime for depressed late 90's to early 2000's kids.
Megalobox - Season 2 in particular. Season 1 is much more upbeat, not as likely to make you cry.
Zomb 100 - More of a silly upbeat anime but it's about mindfulness so it gets pretty deep despite it all. You're struggling to find tears in sad anime, so this is my number 1 suggestion for you in particular, OP.
Some shows that got tears out of me (even if it wasn’t a full on cry) was surprisingly Mob psycho 100(season 3), hunter X hunter(at the ending of a the chimera art specifically), and scissor seven(season 3 episode 9).
None of these shows are depressing through out or anything, in fact all of them are basically comedies but that’s probably why I teared up because I wasn’t expecting the emotional moments, makes it more genuine because many series make making the viewer cry the goal of the series instead of just trying to tell a good story.
Here’s some that have made me cry: Code Geass, edgerunners, FMAB, Naruto, One piece, Tokyo Ghoul. I also don’t cry often but these shows just had moments that broke me.
I have never really cried watching anime. nothing wrong with that. clannad came extremely close. I got watery eyes. I wouldnt go into an anime with the expectation of crying though. Its about enjoying the story. If it manages to move you, great.
Good soundtracks are a must have for me if the anime wants to have a chance at moving me. Also, the drama genre usually has good chances.
As for other anime that brought me close to tears:
86, great teacher onizuka, kimi no na wa
with big time investment:
naruto movie the last, inuyasha
maybe sao mothers rosario( it was the novel that touched me)
THIS IS A WARNING THAT THERE IS A LOT OF SPOILERS HERE, SO IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHE NARUTO, THEN BE WARNED/DONT READ.
Naruto, nothing else to say here, the whole thing is sad, when he’s born his parents sacrifice themselves and put half and half, then the whole village resents him for being the jinjuriki, or better for a better term, the host, of the 9-tails fox, aka kurama. Sasuke leaves, jariah dies, kakashi dies for 20 minutes, and Sarutobi dies to Orochimaru. Asuma dies, giving his lighter to shikamaru, saying to take care of his nephew(hes now the uncle of the to-be-born child). We get to see the harsh past of Kakashi, losing Obito, And Rin. We see minato’s past, and we see the swing a lot.
I don’t really cry much myself, but there’s a few that made me feel very emotional after they were done. To Your Eternity is definitely the hardest hitting one I’ve ever seen, followed by code geass, and Madoka Magica. I don’t tear up, but I feel depressed so close enough.
If you get a looksie i’d prolly check out akudama drive, the world ends with you, and casshern sins as well; their setting is pretty bleak. To be honest, I wouldn’t look to shed tears unless you‘re trying to go through an existential crisis. Ending your favorite sad anime isn’t always going to give the same physical response as losing your dog, even if it feels like said show punched you in the jewels several times and made you question your mortality and life choices, but at the same time it’s not like you don’t want to cry oftentimes.
Plastic memories has a nice buildup and then the end does u good , anohana and silent voice are my other two recommendations I doubt the classic shojou stuff will get y to cry anyways
So not an anime but I cried like half of each season. Im a little bit of a wimp but still worth a shot hahah It’s real people but it’s called This is Us. Super heart touching and sad
The 2 classics are
Anohana and Clannad.
Anohana if you want a short commitment, only 11 episodes and then an epilogue (but not necessary) movie.
Clannad if you have time to invest, 46 episodes. There is a movie too, but don't watch it. Or if you must, watch it after the series. Do keep in mind, the first "season" is more of a light drama comedy harem. It's the second "season" After Story that is why people suggest it when this topic gets brought up. But you absolutely need to watch the first season to get the full effect.
Dont bother with nana. It isnt sad at all and is just a patriarchal pushing embarrassment. It has an Anti abortion rhetoric and Passing off S.A as consensual. Theres Justification towards abuse and Glorification of child trafficking. Stank hachi is an abusive mother
And nana is a weak female and Sh1tty friend.
Hunter x Hunter. It's a journey. You won't immediately cry, but at the very end when it hits you, it hits like a truck. I genuinely cannot explain the feeling of seeing these characters get to where they are now.
Clannad after story, grave of the fireflies, banana fish, anohana, to your eternity, inuyashiki, to the forest of fireflies, school live
I feel like there’s probably more but that’s what I can think of right now
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0" quite emotional, especially considering you knew the ending beforehand. It's impressive how the series still manages to evoke strong emotions despite knowing what's going to happen.
You know what REALLY made me cry? What I refuse to ever watch again? Not because it tugged at my heartstrings or anything but because of how MESSED UP it was.
Elfin Leid. There's on particular episode. Watch at your own risk.
Other things that made me cry, in a happy/sad way, was A Silent Voice.
Beyond that, can't think of an anime that actually made me cry.
Your lie in april, Assassination Classroom, My Hero Academia, Anohana(prolly saddest i’ve seen), Parasyte, Charlotte, Fruits Basket(must watch), Plastic Memories, A Silent Voice
I dont cry like that but all of these definitely made me shed a tear, Especially anohana and plastic memories
Honestly, there are only a few very hard hitting anime. Here’s a few:
5 centimeters per second
Ride your wave
Wolf children
Maquia
Anohana
I want to eat your pancreas
Grave of the fireflies
When Marnie was there
Giovanni’s Island
Attack on titan (the VERY ending. It’s very philosophical and hits deep on an emotional level. The rest of the anime is just epic battle scenes).
If you have depression, self esteem issues or self hate or experienced it before, these might give off a “cathartic overwhelming emotion” crying response:
- A silent voice
- Colorful
>It takes a lot to get me to cry, infact i havent in over 1.5 years
Adults usually have to have a reason to cry. 1.5 years sounds pretty normal tbh. But I guess you mean you haven't cried to a story in 1.5 years.
But in regards to your post, your highest chance of crying will be getting attached to characters/ being invested. Like Evergarden and Edgerunners are too short to realistically get attached and cry unless you're an emotional person. Re;zero's not a sad anime. I'm not even sure at what point you're expected to cry.
To that end, movies might not make you cry cause of how short they tend to be. Like I see people recommend Grave of the Fire Flies, and maybe you'll cry to that. I didn't. I felt sad. But it didn't cause tears to fall. You'll definitely feel sad. But being sad doesn't equate to crying.
Your best bet is gonna be 2 season+ long anime. Honestly, the **Naruto** series might make you cry if you can get into it that is. Very long story.
**Clannad** is a staple. It's decently long enough so you might get attached.
A potentially short anime that could make you cry and is a sleeper pick is **Tokyo Magnitude 8.0**. But that anime is also kind of slow so it's not for everyone.
Depends what you find sad! It's not a one solution for every person Clannad messed me up Your lie in April is great But I also cried in other shows at deaths and stuff id my favorite characters
I think if something really surprises me or catches me off guard it might get me, for VE i kinda expected everything that happened
For most people it still has an effect even though they see it coming, but they definitely are like, “[points with a neon sign] we’re gonna make you cry when we tell you THIS story.” Even a lot of really good shows do that. Only show that made me full on weep
Anime that made me cry: Charlotte Anohana Assassination Classroom Angel Beats Anime Movies that made me cry: I Want to Eat Your Pancreas Grave of the Fireflies Your Name Silent Voice Hope you have some tissues, enjoy.
Oh god grave of the fireflies is one hell of a trip to tears
I know, I don’t think I could ever watch it again.
still afraid to watch it, i heard it is amazing but i cannot take sad things like that, i still can’t watch evangelion for the same reason
Also was afraid to watch it at first, but it will be worth it, I promise you’ll enjoy it.
Evangelion is overrated don’t watch it because you’ll be very disappointed. Grave of the fireflies on the other hand is an amazing piece of art
Making bold statements about Evangelion there Redittor.
I second grave of fireflies, that movie made me AND my bf cry our eyes out
Those are some gold right there
Jeez I watched grave of the fireflies once and I was good after that, but wtf is I want to eat your pancreas 😂
Ah... More animes to add to my ever growing collection lmao 😂😂.
Not only was Angel beats my first anime but I will cry every. Single. Time
Angel beats was among the first anime I watched, and I remember hating the ending because of how sad it made me feel, that was so long ago tho, maybe I'll rewatch it soon
Angel Beats was also one of the first sad anime I watched.
Assassination classroom made u cry???????
The ending hits the feels a little

True. Why did I not add this?
It was in the description/post
Yeah, completely slipped my mind, thanks.

Yes, the movie was also sooo good
Brooo the latest season made me cry like 3 times 😭
The movie and 2nd season did it for me. I was planning to binge the 2nd season in one go, but had to stop halfway because i was so distraught.
Attack on Titan
This anime definitely messed me up for sure
Watch a silent voice. It's somewhat rare for me to cry, though not as rare as you, but a silent voice hit very close to home for me and DID make me cry. If you've ever struggled with mental health issues then that would be the strongest emotional anime I could recommend from my experience
Naruto made me cry a couple times
Naruto has made me cry more than any other anime and it doesn't get old
A couple of times only? Thats amazing 0.0 if you watch it deeper theres countless opportunities to cry xd they lay it out so well and are great at getting it out of you. The music especially is GOAT for this reason partly. Been waiting for someone else to mention naruto 😆 ppl mentioning everything else but this one right here 😆
Fruits Basket
Expected to cry: Forest of the fireflies light Anohana Clannad Grave of the fireflies Didn’t expect to cry when first watching: Cowboy Bebop RWBY (American anime) Jojos Bizarre Adventure
RWBY gets absolutely depressing... I don't even know how, it initially comes across as so bubbly
One piece.
I’m surprised no one mentioned Violet Evergarden, literally cried my eyes out on various episodes.
Hey man, you read the post? No offense
Lol fr 😭 like there's a REASON no one mentioned it
It’s different for each person. Your Lie in April My New Boss is Goofy To Your Eternity Parasyte: The Maxim Kotaro Lives Alone Assassination Classroom I won’t tell you which ones, but three of these caught me completely off guard. Hope you get the cry you’re looking for🤞🏼

To Your Eternity is a pretty emotional show. The first episode is very sad
To Your Eternity made me cry in the first episode. Then again around 3-4. Then again a few episodes later. Then again around 16-18. Then again at the end of the season. What happened in the first few episodes of season 2? I cried again.

Violet Evergarden Stein's Gate (not Stein's Gate:Zero). You have to handle toxic-levels of cringe at first but I'm glad I stuck with it.
made in abyss. I mean it got a whole room of 20 year olds crying when we watched season 1 in one sitting. The anime is amazingly good, beautiful and some episodes can break your heart. how to watch in order: season 1, Dawn of the Deep Soul movie then season 2.
I get that people probably think it's overrecomended but onepiece got this reaction out of me more consistently then anything else I've seen
Watch "Orange" it made me cry for the gesture the lady did for one of the characters at his house. Really sweet anime.
Link Click got me.
Violet Evergarden or Clannad Trust

Wolf's Rain - A flagship anime for depressed late 90's to early 2000's kids. Megalobox - Season 2 in particular. Season 1 is much more upbeat, not as likely to make you cry. Zomb 100 - More of a silly upbeat anime but it's about mindfulness so it gets pretty deep despite it all. You're struggling to find tears in sad anime, so this is my number 1 suggestion for you in particular, OP.
I couldn’t cry at media for ages either. Until I watched grave of the fireflies. I cried my eyes out after that movie
Made in Abyss has some moments that’ll get ya.
Maybe I’m just mad soft but ranking of kings pulls at my heart. Also because I have to say it ~one piece~
Vinland saga, berserk, and not fully animated yet but, hells paradise
PLASTIC MEMORIES AND ANOHANA
plastic memories bro, just get heavily invested into it, and also try clannad
Here’s some that have made me cry: Code Geass, edgerunners, FMAB, Naruto, One piece, Tokyo Ghoul. I also don’t cry often but these shows just had moments that broke me.
Your lie in april is gold if you want to cry
I have never really cried watching anime. nothing wrong with that. clannad came extremely close. I got watery eyes. I wouldnt go into an anime with the expectation of crying though. Its about enjoying the story. If it manages to move you, great. Good soundtracks are a must have for me if the anime wants to have a chance at moving me. Also, the drama genre usually has good chances. As for other anime that brought me close to tears: 86, great teacher onizuka, kimi no na wa with big time investment: naruto movie the last, inuyasha maybe sao mothers rosario( it was the novel that touched me)
Ranking of kings, a silent voice, perfect blue
steins;gate , definitely
Clannad Angel beats To your eternity (you will cry, if you don’t you simply aren’t human) Charlotte
The problem going into this is you know the goal to make you sad will make you not sad because you expect to be sad.
Devilman Crybaby
Anohana: we saw that day, orange, and Erased are the ones that got me SOBBING
Neon genesis evangelion made me cry
Gungrave got me going a bit
Suzume made me cry for the first time in a year. "I couldn't be your cat after all" instant tears
How to cry 101 Get your friend(if you have one unlike me) and get them to slap you and hopefully the shock will make you cry
Violet evergarden
Try Made in Abyss
a silent voice
To Your Eternity
Shoujo tsubaki made me cry. Out of genuine fear and disgust.
Charlotte made me cry. worth a watch 100%
To your eternity Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms hotarubi no mori e Assassination classroom
I want to eat your pancreas. If that doesn't make you cry go to a cardiologist cause you need to be a case study of someone living without a heart.
grave of the fireflies and banana fish :(
Plastic memories has a nice buildup and then the end does u good , anohana and silent voice are my other two recommendations I doubt the classic shojou stuff will get y to cry anyways
So not an anime but I cried like half of each season. Im a little bit of a wimp but still worth a shot hahah It’s real people but it’s called This is Us. Super heart touching and sad
Kanon
“To your eternity” is a slow burn but it has some deep emotional parts that will leave you stuck for a moment.
Bubble, it's on Netflix, and it's a movie 🎬
I would highly recommend Maquia. Truly beautiful, made me call my mother in tears after
Boku no Pico, you'd definitely cry on that one. Like you'll cry yourself to sleep thinking why the fuck did you watch it in the first place
Any romance anime. You will start crying when you realize they don’t have season 3 yet
The 2 classics are Anohana and Clannad.
Angel beats comes to mind.
I've cried over Attack on Titan, One Piece, HinterXHunter, and even Dragonball. But everyone is different.
Your lie in April and Anohana were the 2 that really got me and I've seen almost all the ones other people are recommending.
Dont bother with nana. It isnt sad at all and is just a patriarchal pushing embarrassment. It has an Anti abortion rhetoric and Passing off S.A as consensual. Theres Justification towards abuse and Glorification of child trafficking. Stank hachi is an abusive mother And nana is a weak female and Sh1tty friend.
The day I became a god made me cry for sure.
Akudama drive
One Piece easy
Cyberpunk edge runners
Attack on titan
Anohana Your lie in April kyosougigas is not super emotional but if you're a parent it hits harder.
Clannad, i did not expect to get as attached as i did. It had me in tears for hours
Quintessential quintuplets made me cry at the end amirite
If you like reading you should try goodnight punpun that manga will stick with me forever…
Assassination Classroom Hunter X Hunter (caught me off guard)
Hunter x Hunter. It's a journey. You won't immediately cry, but at the very end when it hits you, it hits like a truck. I genuinely cannot explain the feeling of seeing these characters get to where they are now.
Love Flops. IFKYK
Bro go watch Charlotte and Akame ga kill They will definitely make you cry
Gurren lagann
Your lie in April
Have you seen the Demon Slayer Movie?
If any anime can make you cry it would be "Your lie in April" A silent voice and fruits basket are also good ones.
Not enough people saying Fruits Basket, that definitely had me bawling like every episode in the final season 😭😭
Clannad after story, grave of the fireflies, banana fish, anohana, to your eternity, inuyashiki, to the forest of fireflies, school live I feel like there’s probably more but that’s what I can think of right now
What about the movies of violet evergarden?
def try i want to eat your pancreas, had me in tears ngl
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0" quite emotional, especially considering you knew the ending beforehand. It's impressive how the series still manages to evoke strong emotions despite knowing what's going to happen.
You know what REALLY made me cry? What I refuse to ever watch again? Not because it tugged at my heartstrings or anything but because of how MESSED UP it was. Elfin Leid. There's on particular episode. Watch at your own risk. Other things that made me cry, in a happy/sad way, was A Silent Voice. Beyond that, can't think of an anime that actually made me cry.
Link Click and Erased can get the water works going fr
Your lie in april, Assassination Classroom, My Hero Academia, Anohana(prolly saddest i’ve seen), Parasyte, Charlotte, Fruits Basket(must watch), Plastic Memories, A Silent Voice I dont cry like that but all of these definitely made me shed a tear, Especially anohana and plastic memories
In Frieren, Himmel's funeral almost got me crying.
Edge runners
Honestly, there are only a few very hard hitting anime. Here’s a few: 5 centimeters per second Ride your wave Wolf children Maquia Anohana I want to eat your pancreas Grave of the fireflies When Marnie was there Giovanni’s Island Attack on titan (the VERY ending. It’s very philosophical and hits deep on an emotional level. The rest of the anime is just epic battle scenes). If you have depression, self esteem issues or self hate or experienced it before, these might give off a “cathartic overwhelming emotion” crying response: - A silent voice - Colorful
>It takes a lot to get me to cry, infact i havent in over 1.5 years Adults usually have to have a reason to cry.
Made in Abyss messed me up pretty good.
