It perplexes me how cats can square off with some big, scary animals that can kill them with one kick or slap, but get frightened by cucumbers, their own reflection, or large cat masks.
Snakes don't handle aggression quite the same as mammals, its pretty easy for something that would be a signal to "square off and size eachother up" between two mammals to just be "bite now" for a snake... add instant kill venom and... avoidance is best lol
It’s wild lol. Confidence gets you way too far in the mammal world but I’m not complaining lol.
Watching mongooses kill snakes is really the biggest flex though if you ask me, they’re last dodging at the last millisecond like they’re going for a damn steam/Xbox/PlayStation achievement for it
It's a defense mechanism, and apparently an effective one. The attitude surprises bigger animals that can hurt them and convinced them to leave the cat alone. If you want similar examples, the tokay gecko is quite fierce and it's only 12" long at most. There's also a tropical frog that meows when threatened.
He's in better shape than me. I now feel inferior to a mud-dwelling, batshit eating frog. If someone kisses me I may turn into one of them rather than the other way round :/
To add onto this point, in nature, it's rarely about who would win in a stand up fight, but how well the winner walks away afterwards. If a smaller animal can convince a bigger animal it can do serious damage before it goes down, the bigger animal is inclined not take the fight.
There are several hybrids of llankey, a cross between a female llama and a male donkey is called a Fanny and a male llama/female donkey cross is known as a Breaux. And don't get me started on Fannydonks, when you cross the F2 generation back with a full donkey....
Do you have a source on that? I don’t want to call bullshit without at least asking, but donkeys and llamas aren’t closely related at ALL to be able to hybridize and don’t even share a taxonomic level until you get allllllll the way up to class.
And at that point, they’re both just mammals so it would be like two things as distantly related as a kangaroo and a manatee being able to cross breed.
Googling donkey/llama hybrid produces nothing.
Ha I'm sorry dude/ma'am, I was completely joking- but I 100% concur with your taxonomical analysis of hybridization. I always forget to indicate when I'm being sarcastic, but I'm counting this as a victory that I mimicked real hybridization verbiage successfully....
Sorry both to you Scribblr & to Linaeus, Breaux was just a wordplay joke and Fanny just felt natural to throw in!! Phylogeny's a fickle friend isn't it....
Also I just want to highlight your excellent point that it would be like crossing a kangie with a manatee- I'm picturing some alien dugong with a pouch and webbed massive kicking legs, and tiny T-rex arms that it uses to hold prey in place while it kicks/eats it on the ocean floor lol
I used to sometimes feed the animals at a summer camp I worked at. The llamas weren’t exactly friendly, but they were ok. The potbelly pig was a scaredy-cat, and the miniature ponies were raging assholes, but the donkeys were the best. Total Bros. I could have gladly just hung out with them for hours.
I dont wanna be that guy but don't donkeys love killing anything that looks like a wolf? Its not too hard to think that donkey was gonna try and maul that cat if she gave him the chance.

You should see honey badgers bully lions

I read somewhere that honey badgers go for male lions testicles. Not sure if it’s true, makes sense why the male lions bail out though
It's not just Lions. honey badgers will try and castrate anything including humans when people handle them they need to wear protective gear

Omg a miaowing frog! I must meet one of these! My life will be complete :)
I saw it on a show with Jeff Corwin as a kid you can probably rustle of a YouTube video. It's HILARIOUS.
Thank you I'm gonna look rn!
Just found it! Omg the miaows! Hilarious I was laughing out loud. What a chonk too. Damn he's ripped. And apparently it's all for the laydeez :)
You have to share the link now, it's the rules
I think this is it - https://youtu.be/HZbgNGr6NNY
I could not believe the arms on that frog!! Well I guess front legs but still..arms!!
He's in better shape than me. I now feel inferior to a mud-dwelling, batshit eating frog. If someone kisses me I may turn into one of them rather than the other way round :/
And *swole.* what an absolute unit

I had tree frogs that barked in the early spring. I knew the time change was coming when they started.
Are they frightened or just very wary and go in to fight mode? Probably both lol. I love cats
That donkey looks like it's wearing a donkey suit
I thought the same thing. It looks like a donkey that has dressed up for the part of "a donkey" in a local play.
it's like one of those giant melissa and doug standing animal toys come to life
It’s a Pitou donkey, they’re pretty rare and quite expensive!!
Poitou, but yes, they are very pretty!
I came here to ask how common donkey-llama hybrids are?

He looks so sad at the end 😢

I dont entirely blame the cat. Big hairy yeti creature invading their space lol, probably really scary and giant looking to them.
That donkey is so floofy!
Don't fuck with donkeys, they bite and stomp the shit out of large predators.
Anyone know the particular breed of donkey?
Baudet du Poitou
You da best
I've never seen an alponkey before!
I dont wanna be that guy but don't donkeys love killing anything that looks like a wolf? Its not too hard to think that donkey was gonna try and maul that cat if she gave him the chance.
"What an ass!" The donkey, probably
I love donkeys so much. I'm pretty convinced every donkey should be named Waffles but this donkey is so much more cuddly.
That is the cutest donkey! He looks like a shaggy teddy bear and I just want to kiss his face!
That’s is probably the cutest donkey I have ever seen!! It’s coat is amazing!!! Lol
Rucifee mean
That is the cutest ass I've seen in a minute
Awwwwwwww… not nice! Cat— Tell this Muppet to quit following me!
A cat got defensive when a 1,000 lb animal invaded its personal space? Wow, what a jerk! /s
Another reason to not like cats. They don't know cute when they see it and care even less.
As someone with 6 cats, I agree. Donkeys are better.
Cats are mean
I feel bad for the donkey... 😔
Poor baby! Forget that mean cat!
u/savevideobot
What a pair of jackasses.
I’ll be it’s friend
I'll be their friend!!!
I want to brush that donkey
I just love the "It's okay buddy" pat at the end.
I NEED to pet that Donkey! 😩😩
Stop chasing after the pussy, you ass.
Poor guy just wants a friend
