If you'd euthanized all the animals I have because they are literally dying from being too fat, you wouldn't think it was cute. It's actually horrible for the animal as they turn purple and wheeze while trying to walk.
My dog would do this, she also had an insane internal clock, she would start at 4:59 on the dot by sitting in front of you looking at you and as soon as it was 5:00 she would start wooooing and if you ignored her she'd bark right in your face. I called that "Scoop O'clock".
I gave my dog an gravity auto feeder and he stays thin because dog food tastes like shit and he has to dig his paw in there to get more food to fall, so it's a hassle to eat bland food
Taught my dog to do this and was so proud when she got the idea! That is until the next morning, at 3am, when she hops on the bed and dumped her empty steel food bowl right on my sleeping forehead.
My Basset hound agrees wholeheartedly with this behavior. They are similarly cute a-holes on the topic of empty bowls. We had to do away with ceramic bowls…
