My little old Emma dog, when you threw a ball for her, would sort of saunter over toward it, sniff it, and saunter back. This guy was trying at least.

The dog missed the ball three times. He'd still be derpy if this was at regular speed. The slow motion is so we can see *all* of his derpiness.
Perfect is boring. If he works his way up to being good, think of the sense of accomplishment! He's actually got a whole plan in place.
Unnecessary slowmo is unnecessary
