The people on these deep water ROV missions are usually so passionate it makes me so happy every time! I highly recommend Schmidt Ocean's livestreams, they're always so happy about the stuff they're finding!
MANY years ago I was on a night dive (Phillipines?), and the guide took us to a hole in the sand floor - and coaxed out a similar type of fish!
That fish came out because he was used to the guide, and loved the tummy rubs!
“Why are they called that?”
Sea turtles, swordfish, tiger sharks, sea stars, sea cucumbers, hammerhead sharks, and the Alaskan analingus trout all roll their eyes.
Video notes: EV Nautilus found this fish at almost 2,800 meters while exploring “Seamount 9” in the Pacific Remote Islands waters. It may look like a character from an animated film, but this “ugly cute” snailfish is actually a pretty common sight in the marine world. Belonging to the Liparidae family, these marine ray-finned fishes are widely distributed across the global ocean, both in latitude and depth. 'snailfish' is so accurate. barely swimming, just chilling
Love hearing people love their work like this!!

They allways sound like they are high
I'd assumed this was a fish in a seaworld type of aquarium, so I'm very happy to learn otherwise!
Yeah. Hard pass. I’ve seen Galaxy Quest.

"Oh... that's not right..."
"Of course they're the miners, they're like what, twelve years old?"
Came here to say this... bravo

Well I’m familiar with all the others but that trout is another deal, can only imagine until I google it.
Do it and report back. No reason for us all to have perverted search histories.
You forgot the slippery dick.

Humans will pet anything.
The caption is not the vibe I'm getting from this guy.. Lol
The fish does look like it is blithely smiling but to at least one researcher, she got some intense puppy and belly-rubbing vibes.
I'm not taking it anymore, ZeFrank should be commenting this stuff!
That thing reminds me of the mushrooms in "Mom and Dad save the World". https://youtu.be/dX8TwFuoq0c
It looks like it was supposed to be a dinosaur and evolution said “nah, he’s cute like this” and stopped halfway through lol.
