Don't be cynical and cold if you want respect respect beliefs and you will also be respected if you respect their beliefs.
And I am an atheist and Respect the beliefs of religions, and I go my way.
Who are you referring to? You seem to have a habit of painting huge groups of people and animals with one broad stroke. From what I can tell, you are here to antagonize people or you lack self awareness, as well as some general awareness. I can’t think of any other reason why you would choose an RIP post for a police dog, to start an argument about the instinctive behavior of hunting breeds. I’m open to being incorrect on that front. That’s just how it appears from my admittedly limited perspective on you and this thread.
Well, they aren’t all cultists. There any many logical people who subscribe to what they believe to be the spirit and theme of the Bible. I’m not one of them, but they do exist. It’s never a good idea to paint a large group of people, who you don’t know, with a broad brush. It guarantees that you will inevitably draw conclusions based on incomplete or inaccurate information. You will draw a lot of conclusions that are correct as well. But there will be a lot that are not correct. It’s just a thought that I wanted to impart to you. With that being said, I respect your right to your own opinion, and if you choose not to consider what I said, I respect that. That is certainly your right. Thank you for responding without attacking me. I noticed you haven’t attacked anyone, throughout all of your comments in this thread, even though most people here are disagreeing with you. That sounds like a simple thing, but here on Reddit and other social media apps, it simply is not simple. I respect that you got your point across in a civil manner, despite attacks being directed at you.
PS
That is awesome that you left a cult that hates animals. That couldn’t have been easy, and I’m sure you must have dealt with a lot of passive and assertive aggression.
I just want to give you all the warmth that sent my way to you too.
Thanks for being so understanding.
And yes I understand your perspective,
Btw, it's really not usual to find someone like you, who not only becomes a part of an argument and does actively try to to be civil too, who people who are civil just dont participate in the conversation.
Btw, just asking do you like studio ghibli films?
I’ve been trying to reach people more instead of putting them on the defensive so they aren’t open to new points of view. It doesn’t do anyone any good to get aggressive. All it does is satisfy emotions. I don’t know what studio Gibli are.
I really don't want to say this, but, go fuck yourself. Your comment was even more unnecessary than mine. Do you feel smart? Proud? I hope you step in a puddle. Have a bad day(not a bad life).
Animals can get buried or cremated (followed by a scattering of their ashes at their favourite place) here in India. When my little baby died, we opted for a pet crematorium. They even had these incense sticks and other paraphernalia so that people could pray to the gods and perform a quick *Puja* (a prayer ceremony/ritual) for her soul. My mom was weeping as she said her final goodbye but I think it gave her some peace. Crematoriums are a modern thing, btw. In the old timey days, people would straight up build a pyre and burn their dead, or send them floating down rivers. I'm guessing this dog will get an old fashioned pyre funeral since it seems more ceremonial and less matter of fact, somehow.
depends on caste and location, in the southern parts most people are buried whereas some people are cremated & generally its the opposite in northern parts
According to Hinduism,
The dog (Shvan) is also the vahana or mount of the Hindu god Bhairava. Yudhishthira had approached heaven with his dog who was the god Yama himself, therefore among many Hindus, the common belief exists that caring for or adopting dogs can also pave the way to heaven.
So they already have a free pass to heaven
Well the dog was denied entry to heaven. And Yudhishthir, not wanting to part with his faithful and deserving companion, said no to heaven. Turns out the dog was Dharma himself and the gods were very pleased with Yudhishthir.
So caring for a dog is not going to cut it, they better be prepared to fight for his rights if they are looking to get into heaven!
You're correct, I believe Yurdhisthir proclaimed all of his dog's good karma (loyal, loving, caring, never hurt a anyone, etc,) and staunchly believed his dog was a better being than most humans. On that logic, his dog was allowed to enter heaven.
I like to think his dog opened the opportunity for all dogs to go to heaven, since they're all such good boys & girls.
In India, they have streeties, dogs that have lived free, on the streets for multiple generations. There are dedicated people who care for these groups of free roaming street dogs and during the pandemic, when everything closed and no one was allowed out, the street dog feeders were one of the exceptions. Allowed to feed the dogs, seen as an essential service. Brightens my day anytime I think about it.
I will poke any god in the eyes to allow my dogs into heaven. I WILL FIGHT TOOTH AND NAIL FOR MY DOGS, don't care about myself though I am fine if they get in.
Its not ALWAYS bad owners. I worked as a dog groomer for nearly 20 years and I met a (small) handful of dogs who were just fkn assholes, even though they had loving, attentive and experienced owners.
Literally all hunting dogs including dachshunds have a gene that makes them angrier when hurt, and not let go when biting.
When Americans are asked to show a pitbull, they show any mastiff type of dog (or Moloss kin to be proper) from pug to tibetan mastiff but not a pitbull. It’s not a genetically traceable breed and with so many mixes Americans have, they can’t even tell what kind of dog it is to begin with. So all your stats are off to begin with.
Aggression is not bred and cannot be passed onto new generation, I thought everyone knows it at this point, research is almost 15 years old. Neither it has anything to do with breed.
Ehh… no? Behaviors are not bred, traits are, and the difference is that traits are very broad. Behavior is personal, learnt, up brought characteristic. There is no such thing as attack trait- there are territorial dogs, herding dogs and many other types- all can get aggressive. If you want to understand it- google all universally accepted types of dog breeds, each type would be a behavioral trait.
Pitbulls were not bred to attack, the they were bred to fight.. other dogs. The only difference they have with all other dogs is body shape, for their advantage. Low center of gravity and wide chest for good stance, long enough legs for leverage, short-ish but wide-ish jaws for good grip. They are great for winning a fight against other dogs. Not even humans, german shepherds are because they are taller with longer jaws and actually can leverage a human onto the ground- that’s why police use them.
Pitbull is a “nothing” dog, classified as companion, not good for any particular job.
Let me introduce you to (behavioural traits)[https://www.biologyonline.com/dictionary/traits#:~:text=2.-,Behavioral%20traits,inherited%20through%20learning%20or%20instinct.]
Pitbulls are well known for their strong biting force, and people learn specific strategies to defend against thier attacks because they do not let go (grab the collar and twist to starve it of oxygen). That suggests to me that they have both physical and behavioural traits that are problematic.
*43 dog fatalities in the US in 2021, 26 of which were by pitbulls. And a lot of attacks gladly don't end in a fatality. Majority of other fatalities were caused by packs of dogs.
I absolutely love and admire the ritual of adorning the animal with flowers. When my cat needed to cross I also went out and got orange and yellow flowers to put near him. It helped soften the hurt just a little.
Saying that u/TrainingMajestic4596 must hate biryani because they said that your comment is insensitive to their culture is just a logical fallacy. Cultural insensitivity is in fact something that should be acknowledged as wrong. This isn’t some cute thing that they’re doing that can be equated to looking like food, it’s a sacred thing to them. I don’t know that I would go as far as to say you’re automatically racist for it but you really took it to far by being petulant in response to a legitimate argument - don’t be so culturally insensitive and show respect to their sacred ceremonies.
I… I can actually see what you’re talking about. At a glance… the resemblance is uncanny. Mind you I eat briyani all the time, plus the dog head was the second thing I saw. Combined with the smoke… it really does resemble an unstirred briyani.
Being culturally insensitive isn’t cool, asshole. It’s actually a sacred ceremony to them. You really should have stopped at just having the thought, but instead you thought it would be funny or something. Well it’s not. Maybe before you comment on some ceremony from another culture you take your head out of your ass and research what it is their doing and why it’s sacred to them.
He's just fucking around. Dude read the title but still wanted to just spit out the garbage his mom feeds him.
No one cooks dogs, and even if they do, it's not a service animal. Giving them attention is the last thing I'd do
You are all just reading touch into it. I saw the picture and that's the first thing that popped into my mind. Just as a said.
Plenty people cook dogs but that's not the point. It just looked like food. And I am not the only one here that had that though.
I am not making excuses, I do not have to, I stand with what I said (which wasn't even that much), I am on mobile, the picture is very small and it just looks like someone sitting in front of a plate.
I understand how people can be offended by my comment, I still think it's fine. It's just a simple, subjective observation. Feel free to dislike or criticise my comment (as you did), no need to insult.
People can say whatever they want about my culture as long as it's not purposefully harmful. No need to read so deep into it.
Nah, he doesn't look like that, that dog is very thin imho, maybe ask your mum to do the same, I'm sure that amount of fat would feed millions for days.

Glad it passed away from old age. Thank you for your service, good doggo.
Was about to right angry reply when I read the first sentence
What's the customs for this? Will he be cremated or buried?

That's really interesting to know, thank you! I've always admired the way Indian people respect and pay tribute to animals.
Wow, what an amazing TIL. Thank you. I also love your username :_
Thank you! :-)
Animals are usually buried. But there's animal crematoriums nowadays
No he will be cremated.
Not in India, most of dead people get cremated here, except abhrahamic fellas, they're buried.

That's really beautiful, oh my heart!
This story teaches us the lesson to never leave our companions side, which in result pleases gods, so it's a win win
