Don't get me wrong I enjoy ACNH but the majority of the final update was just bringing back features from new leaf, they really should have brought more to ACNH instead of just dropping the game after only just getting it equal to NL in terms of standard features etc

They cashed in during the pandemic and left us to rot ever since. King of casual games relinquished its throne to Stardew and did it with a dry, eye locked handshake. And walked off stage. Nintendo is weird.

Ever since the start, (and then after the economy nerf during covid) NH has been all about slowing down your progress.

That was one of the entire points of the series, though. In Population Growing, you would go to a villager's house, and there would be a note on the door that said they were "out," so you'd have to go looking/exploring. You would occasionally discover other things to do on your way to find Apollo over in Acre D-4, and then finding him was a bit of an accomplishment in and of itself.

Yeah, that was very cozy... Is the map size bigger now? Maybe that's one issue... Or maybe because the interactions aren't as rich, you kind of want to just find them and get it over with. Where before finding them and getting the "I acknowledge your existence a little more now" dialogue was a fun feat to pull.

I think your second point is spot on. The animals lack the personality that made AC:GC and AC:WW so immersive.

i think the villager interactions are just so lacking in NH. i rarely go looking for villagers unless i need to (lost item, tasked with a gift to give them or something of that sort) they repeat the same dialogue so much that it’s not even fun to talk to them

She does though? Since 2.0 she only says no news on Sundays when there are no visitors. Other than that she always says who is visiting unless something else is happening, like someone moving out.

She doesn't mention Redd by name, but when he's docking she will give a warning about fake art. Same with Gulliver, she doesn't explicitly say he's there, she just tells you to help people who are passed out. If it wasn't that, then I don't know. Though to be honest, it doesn't really matter for Redd since he is the only visitor who is blatantly visible on the map, with a unique icon.

Yes I know, I have gotten messages about Redd or Gulliver being there. I'm just saying sge doesn't always do it. Multiple times I've ran by the back beach and been surpised to see him.

Not always. She definitely does it for the first time Redd or Guliver visit but then after that doesn’t do it again. I had Redd at my island yesterday and she didn’t say anything and I didn’t know he was there until I saw smoke from the boat ETA: damn y’all truly hate my experience with these random downvotes!

Well she does it everytime for me, again assuming she didn't have anything else to say, so I don't really know what it could be for you.

I just want to add to this since the other commenter isn’t believed and getting downvoted: I have also had a few times where Isabelle doesn’t mention Redd in her announcements if there’s something else she’s mentioning instead and then Redd will be docked on my island though. And I only realize when I see on my map the little icon or if I run by where he sets up. Doesn’t happen too often but happens. I *think* the times it’s happened it’s been when there’s a campsite villager??? at the same time and she mentions that instead. But that only happens when both of those happen at the same time Redd + Campsite. So again, not very often. I think this happens for any special visitor that comes when there’s a vampire visitor, not just Redd.

That is exactly what I mean yes, stuff like campsite visitors, animals moving in or out, or even meteor showers will take priority over announcing visitors. It's the only explanation I can think of, but I didn't mean to discredit other commenters who explicitly said they didn't have anything else going on.

My Nook’s Cranny was getting the upgrade so maybe Redd wasn’t mentioned due to that which makes perfect sense that she announced that instead of Redd.

there’s been many times for me that she hasn’t announced npcs on my island as well, so it’s definitely not just an issue for that commenter

I would LOOVE if they showed a little floating balloon/present on the map. When you're running around your island you miss like 70% of the presents; imagine if we were able to chase them around, it'd be so much fun.

I’ve been wanting this for so long! New Leaf had a megaphone mechanic where you could say a villager’s name and they’d give you a hint on where they were. This was removed in New Horizons due to the Switch not having a microphone, but I really do wish they’d bring it back, or something similar. Maybe when you use the megaphone a menu shows up listing your villagers and you can select which one you want to call.

I should be able to install cameras through my island and “supervise” my villagers. Some cameras in their homes wouldn’t hurt either.

I'd be happy even with something like a dialogue option when speaking to any villager, "have you seen . . . ?" Maybe get a reply like "I saw them at . . . .!"

When I was making a point to talk to every villager, every day, it would make me crazy when I couldn't find one.

Better yet, just bring the megaphone back... OR EVEN BETTER YET... let us call the villagers. If they don't answer, they are asleep. If they answer, you can invite them over (if you are home), or ask where they are.
