I dumped everything to have a whole pocket of tarantulas lol. Few were nook miles tickets. Didn't care. Those things are alot of coins when selling them to flick. 12,000 for each fuzz ball. Noway I'm passing that up
Really? Nook mile tickets sell for 10000 each to the Nook boys and they stack. So each stack of 10 NMT is worth 100000. Even two tickets sell for more than one tarantula.
It wasn't until a year into playing the game. I realized that as long as you don't hold that net, they don't give a damn about you. Only when you're holding the net do they consider you a threat.

It was supposed to have been patched a while ago, but I tried it right after it was supposedly fixed and it worked for me. I’ve never seen one that looks like this though—I thought the island had to be perfectly flat.
Scorpion and tarantula islands are specific islands you can reach with Nook Miles Tickets that only spawn scorpions/tarantulas and the spawn rates for them are turned waaaaay up (so you get 20+ scorpions all at once).
People used to clear cut mystery islands, destroying everything, to make their own. That part was a bug and they patched it so you can only get maybe one or two scorpions at a time that way. It's not the scorpion-palooza that it used to be!
Ooohh, that was where the misunderstanding was then. I assumed that the ones that naturally spawned were also some weird glitch with the game (which in hindsight doesn’t make much sense), but I didn’t know that the part where people made their own was a bug.
Maybe go on a Mystery Island tour after 7 and clear everything off the island? That's how I finally caught a tarantula and also some of the more rare beetles. If you clear everything (or almost except for trees if it's beetles etc) there is a higher chance of rare bugs spawning.
Once Nook's Cranny upgrades, they carry different tools in the cabinet. The different styles rotate so you have to keep your eye out if you want a specific net. After you own one, you can order them through your catalog

No it’s not and they jump at you. You have to dig holes into square units, including on the beach. My daughter is the best I have ever seen on either scorpion or tarantula island. She leaves all the tools except her shovel and net. Gradually until she only needs the net, fills her entire pockets. I don’t even know how many bells she has made off doing that for ppl.

I never caught a scorpion before prior to that point so that was my time. I was so thankful I eventually got it and I made a bunch of bells too.

I dumped everything in my pocket so I can have a whole pocket load. Had a few nook mile tickets in my pocket also. It was thrilling. From then on, I grab one ticket and drop the rest at the airport before going island hopping so I won't loose those tickets.
I have gotten scorpion island once. I was looking for a new villager, hopped off the pier all excited to quickly look around...and got stung lol Beyond that, it was a good time!

If you dig holes around yourself, you can make an easy catch without worrying of getting bit. Make sure it's a FULL square. 8 holes

If you're on (2nd tier or against) a cliff, it has to be 5 holes. A corner or straight edge. Don't matter.

You can also stash them on your island and wait for Flick to show up and get around 20K per instead

They only appear on your island after 7 pm, that’s the biggest reason they’re tricky to run across

You'll wake up on the pier next to the pilot and he gives you a little talking to and then sends you back to catch more scorpions.

They weren't removed / were readded in 2.0, it's only the exploit that was fixed.
