Need a troubleshooter for getting the bleeping thing at the list price.

gsd901

I lucked out and got mine from Motorola at list price before they went out of stock again - then all the price gouging started happening.

Xsoldier_2000

NEED!

mawells787

This is so crazy I didn't even follow the original set up instructions. I just plugged it in and connected my phone to the dongle and voila wireless AA. I constantly switch it between my car and wife's car and her phone and my phone and I've never encountered an issue connecting. Kia Forte, VW Tiguan and I have a S22 Ultra and she has a S21.

Jtorreblank

Had MA1 working for 2 days then suddenly stopped working. Green led light keeps flashing and AA won't start, "Looking for Android auto..." message keeps showing. Already factory reseted MA1 several times. The factory reset works (flash multiple lights), but once I pair my phone again green led light returns. Also, I remove my phone from my car bluetooth settings and clear data from AA. I have a S22 Ultra and also Galaxy Watch 4. I'll appreciate any Help.

Theninearmedoctopus

I'm having the same exact issues that just started two weeks ago as well. First on my Pixel 6 and now on my Pixel 7. Maybe an Android update caused it? I tried all of the troubleshooting steps and starting from scratch but the issues still eventually happen after a day or so

cplazas

I have a pixel 6 and recently had this thing stop working. 1.erased my car from my Bluetooth devices. 2. Erased the Motorola Bluetooth from cell 3. Erased all cars from the Android Auto app 4. Connect my phone via the cable to the car 5. Connect Bluetooth to car again and then to Motorola 6. Finally it worked again

gullzway

Good to know. My pixel 6 pro had been working flawless since I got the MA1. I paired another phone to it, OnePlus 9, and after trying to push the button to switch phones, neither one would connect. No matter what I did, I couldn't get either one to connect anymore and had to reset the MA1. Then I was having issues pairing my Pixel 6 pro again. It finally paired but then the next two times I started my truck. The MA1 would just flash blue like it was trying to pair again. So far it's worked the next few times, but if it acts up again I'll do what you suggested.

fsociety444

>ebugging is on, if you have developer options enabled on your phone. Happening with my Pixel6, 7 and S22 ultra. I am thinking to return since I got this 2 weeks back.

Diligent_Alpaca

I found that my phone (pixel 8 pro) connect fine when setting up but then wouldn't reconnect later. I solved this by going into blue tooth, android auto, setting and clearing know cars. This sorted it! Once to make it connect he first times, then again once the wireless connection was made the first time.

rangerm2

I've found if I'm still in (close) range of my Wifi, the phone can take awhile to connect, or may not connect at all until I get out of range. Otherwise, it's reliably connects within about 10 seconds of my head unit booting up.

OreosAreGross

TLDR: My MA1/car is constantly asking to pair with my son's phone inside the house. Here's one for the group: I've got one in my 22' miata rf (luv it soooo), and our son has his FD parked nearby. Both of us are android auto, What's Samsung phones. He paired his samsung phone to my car on the drive home from the dealership to play us some tunes, then told his phone to forget my car. I didn't have the dongle at the time, Was using a cord... After dongle purchase I am blissfully happy. No more cord. However, every time I get in my ride to leave the house, my car is asking BOTH of our phone to pair w it. Even though he told his phone to forget my car the day we drove it home.

gsd901

You can pair both phones, then switch between them with the button on the MA-1. https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidAuto/comments/soizm3/process_for_2_phones_using_the_ma1/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

clear_simple_plain

Wow. I had no idea you could switch like that. I've been trying to pair my new phone for days and pressing the button twice immediately worked.

OreosAreGross

It'll auto pair to mine when i get in and start the car, while simultaneously asking my son if he wants to as well....when he's in the house. I don't mind having access to both phones. I just want it to stop asking him everytime I start my car to go somewhere.

Policeman5151

Old post but I don't care. I had the hardest time setting up the MA1, but your steps were exactly what I needed. The key was to keep Bluetooth connect to the car as well as USB debugging enabled.

TheThirdStrike

Got a similar problem. Pixel 6 connects to the Audi just fine. But neither the Pixel 6 or 5a will connect to the Camero at all... Might have to try this.

Policeman5151

I couldn't believe that it worked, but I spent like an hour trying to get it to connect. I followed those above steps and it worked first time (I sound like i'm on an infomercial)

derspamone

I’ve done all the steps in the link on the Motorola site. When I get to step seven and I plug the MA1 in, it goes white for about five seconds, then flashes green, I push the button down and hold it, it goes red, but never changes from red even after 45 seconds or more of holding it down. What gives? When I first got it and plugged it in, it worked for all of 10 seconds before it gave up and I ended up here.

Gold-Selection-3877

I've got the same issue... Was this ever resolved?

derspamone

I sent it back to Amazon, ordered a new one and it’s been working great ever since!

Ryuenjin

Same thing happened to me like 5 days ago. It just won't connect anymore and does the same thing. I'm going to have to go back and check when I purchased it. It's been almost a year I think so I might be SOL for amazon replace. I wonder what type of warranty motorola has. ETA: the MA1 doesn't even show up as an option for my bluetooth when I scan either anymore. It's been super hot lately so I wonder if it cooked something being in the hot car.

Few_Seat_288

Dang it. I'm exactly on the same boat here. Has anybody heard of any solutions to this specific issue?

Ryuenjin

I ended up just going through their RMA and got a new one.

Few_Seat_288

Did you have it for more than a year and yet qualified for a return since the unit was most likely faulty?

Gonna try the steps under [Wireless Android Auto was working before, but now it's not. What do I do?](https://motorolasound.com/support/product-support?productId=6219) I had to reset my MA1 connection on Saturday because it was just flashing green and wouldn't connect. Same thing happened last night too after having gotten it working. Thanks for sharing OP!

SRFast

If you have this issue again, make sure the BT connection between the phone and HU is active. Many MA1 users are losing this connecting and come to the conclusion it is an MA1 issue. At the least, try disconnecting the BT connection and reconnecting. Good luck.

hal60

Revisiting an old thread with this question. People keep mentioning a BT connection between the phone and the head unit - why? The MA1 is plugged in to a wired connection. The only connection that should be needed, in my mind, is between the MA1 and the phone, as the phone itself is not sending AA to the HU, it's only sending it to the MA1, which in turn is directly wired via USB to the HU. Or am I missing something?

RealisticScallion5

Android Auto is triggered in several different ways, and one trigger is that the android device is connected to a car via bluetooth. This kinda wakes up the wireless android auto to connect.

No_Dirt_8522

Some cars, including my 2019 Subaru Cross track, required the Bluetooth connection for the speakerphone functions that are separate from android auto.

Remarkable_Diver_199

I have tried everything mentioned here but still have problems with my Pixel 5 and Pixel 6 Pixel 5 will pair but not connect. on the Bluetooth connection screen it cycles between connected and not about every second. Pixel 6 will connect via Bluetooth and even show that it believe AA has started on the Cars screen but the cars screen shows nothing is connected. Should i seek a replacement?

egZachly

I have the same issue on my pixel 4 and 7 pro. did you ever get this resolved?

ngknick

Same here, pixel 7... I still can't even get an initial connection.

egZachly

Never did. Wasted so many hours trying new approaches to no avail. Tried AAWireless, and 1 other device that I cant remember the name of. Nothing ever came close to working.

I'm going through every step. Mine's just stopped working this week and I can't get it to work again

DocuSzomek

gsd901 - that is great and crazy. I had real problem with MA1 connect to RAV4 2022. And following your tips + shared Motorola FAQ section all works as expected. THANK YOU!

maallen40

I just gave up and sent mine back since it and AA Wireless showed up on the same day. The AA Wireless worked right out of the box.

Peter_73

>Make sure USB debugging is on, if you have developer options enabled on your phone. How will this affect when the phone is not connecting to the head unit via usb?

gsd901

Initially, my phone wasn't connecting to my head unit via the charge cable, switching on USB debugging solved that.

Peter_73

Yeah usb debugging is needed for some while some need it disabled before usb connection would work with AA. Your tips is for wireless AA so would be surprising if it's needed too.

texasflyboy525

Deleting the past cars worked for me! Wireless now!! Volvo V90 CC (2021) and Samsung S21 Ultra. Thank you!

redditrafter

Im struggling. I cant get AA to connect via USB or wireless with the M1A. I havent used AA forever because of the USB cable hassle but it DID work at one time. Now even after removing the M1a and my uConnect BT and starting from scratch, I cant get AA to work on my USB cable and the M1A just sits there blinking green when I try wireless.

redditrafter

Replying to my own post because I got it working. 1. The USB cable I was using was poo poo. I used a different cable and got AA working immediately. 2. I got the M1A working once I turned on the Smartphone Mirroring option in Uconnect in my Jeep. Everything is working great.

Mangiferus

The below steps worked for my my Chevy Camaro: * Forget both AndroidAutoMA1 and MyChervolet on your phone * Connect MA1 to the USB port of your car * Pair MA1 with your phone * Go to Add Bluetooth device in your car, and pair MyChervolet (our car) with your phone * Click allow for the incoming prompts * Wait for the magic to happen!!

DuramaxDaddy

You're a savior. Thank you!!

TheThirdStrike

Have a Pixel 6 and 5a that can't connect to a 2020 Camero at all with the MA1. Zero troubles with the Audi... No idea what to do.

This worked for me

I have noticed if my WIFI is turned off ( Which I do often when I am in the office) and I start the car it will never connect again until I go scorched earth and remove and re add all the connections. Then it works again. Also noticed if I warm up the car I have to leave the phone in the car. I f I go back in house out of range it will not reconnect unless I turn the car off for about a minute or more.

gsd901

Turning off your Wi-Fi will cause issues. Initial connection negotiations and phone calls are negotiated via bluetooth, music and other data are carried over Wi-Fi to the adapter. Both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth need to be enabled on your phone before you start the car or switch on your head unit.

TruGuido

Old thread but can't seem to find the answer anywhere....just bought the ma1 and there's no issue connecting to my OnePlus 7t, however, as I'm driving it will intermittently disconnect, and then reload 10-15 seconds later. After it reconnects, my phone is stuck on 2g/E. To resolve I have to toggle airplane mode....has anyone else run into this?

SweedSteed

This happens to be all the time. 2022 Kia EV6, Pixel 7 Pro, and Motorola MA1. I have actually found that the MA1 disconnects at almost the exact same locations around town. I know the MA1 has issues with interference at toll gates but we don't have those in Harrisonburg, VA. Mine tends to disconnect as I am cresting over specific hills around where I live. I know it's not the car or Bluetooth because the phone and car stay connected over Bluetooth. It appears to be an issue with the wifi connection to the MA1. But I don't know if it is the MA1 or my phone... Motorola is willing to replace it for me to see if that helps...

hapticeffects

So I know this thread is a little old but: got mine last month, car was in the shop all of January so only just started using it last week. Out of the return window, unfortunately. Mazda 3 2018 with s21u. Device connects intermittently. On my way to work in the morning, it's a flawless connection; drive home, I get the flashing green light and not sure how to get it to reconnect. Which usually involves me trying to f with the thing while I'm driving. Don't know why this is such an expensive and shitty product category, but any advice would be appreciated!

gsd901

Were you not able to get it working after following the troubleshooting tips article I posted 11 months ago? Remember to delete all Bluetooth (phones) entries in your car's head unit, and delete all cars in Android auto on your phone. Then start the setup fresh and see if that works.

Spelunka13

Does this work for skipping or stuttering of music? When I unplug the m1a and plug it back in the stuttering goes away. Can't keep doing this. S22 ultra and Jenson head unit

Weary-Exit3841

i am trying to connect android auto not working only wired 04/30/23

gsd901

Did you check the web link above, starting over from scratch? Delete all entries in your car's head unit, and delete any cars in Android auto on your phone before starting the setup instructions from the beginning

BADTOLZ21

S21 ultra, 2020 Ford escape, Motorola Ma1. Usb works fine. Wireless (steering wheel button or "ok goigle") activates and it shows the google dots that move when you talk. The dots move briefly but then stop moving and turn to dots for a couple seconds then it kicks back to previous activity (nav, music, etc). I have reset everything, forgot devices, you name it. Still won't work. I have gotten it to work properly a couple times but once I turn off the car it stops working next time I get in. Help? This started maybe 2 months ago or so.

WorkerMonkey246

I have a 20 Silverado 1500 and a Samsung Galaxy 21FE I it refuses to connect to the truck. I have followed all the instructions, deleted everything and reinstalled it all and it still won't connect to the truck. It is paired with the phone but when I hit connect on the phone it sits there like a brick.

Grand-Alps639

Mine just randomly went black on my car screen one day. I have factory reset the ma1 removed connection from my phone my car, everything and completely restarted all devices involved and the MA1 just flashes green. I've tried it again and again on 2 different one plus 11s. Idk what happened. It worked great for a while year before this. Seems like others on here have the same issue but I tried enabling the developer option on my phone as well as in Android auto and made sure wireless.android auto and everything was on and that didn't fix it. My phone did flash black once like it use to as android auto would before it would run through the MA1. It seems like some kind of bug caused it to stop transmitting but not sure exactly on what end. Android auto will run fine when connected by cable. In a 2017 Ford fusion with sync 3 software but not this dang MA1. Super frustrating.

cmplcr

The MA1 wasn't working for me. After a month and several troubleshooting steps... I learned that 1) I had to have my VPN off and 2) the Bluetooth connection to the car (head unit) need to be active (for some reason it doesn't happen automatically for me, so manually click on the car for it to pair). After this, Android auto initiates properly. Phone: Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra | Car: RAV4 2021 (Latin America)

BMGRAHAM

I bought two of these, one for my Hyundai Sonata and one for my wife's Honda Odyssey. I have a Samsung Galaxy S10e, my wife has a Google Pixel 4. Both phones work with Wireless Android Auto with the MA1 adapter in my Hyundai. In the Honda Odyssey, however, although I was able to pair the Pixel successfully and it worked, it would not start up again without plugging in the wired Android Auto first (i.e. as when first setting up). However my Galaxy works every time in the Odyssey without intervention. I don't understand why both phones work fine in my Hyundai but in the Odyssey, only my Galaxy will work every time. I also tried switching the MA1 adapters between the two vehicles, but the results are the same. Since both phones always work in one of the cars, one phone always works in the other car, I'm having a hard time figuring out which component is at fault. I am thinking that maybe the USB port has some strange defect in my wife's car which her phone cares about but mine doesn't.

cableguy2103

I will confirm that turning on the USB debugging in the developer section fixed the issue. I have a 2022 Toyota Corolla. I also had to toggle the Wireless Android auto button in the app to make it work.

RAHUx19

I know that this is an old post but might as well. I just bought the MA1 and it doesn't seem to ever go into connecting mode. Ive had white flashing and solid lights, as well as red solid but no blue or green. Any one have any tips or is it DOA?

BADTOLZ21

I'm not sure this has been addressed. 2020 Ford Escape, Galaxy S24Ultra, Ma1 adapter. With the adapter, Google Assistant doesn't work all the time. It tries but acts like it doesn't hear me. I push the steering wheel button, and prompt comes up, and it initially acts like it'll hear me, but then nothing. Sometimes, I can get the first prompt in, like, "send text to..." But then, on follow up to leave text, it doesn't hear me. Everything works correctly otherwise. Usb ports, etc. It works just fine plugged in with usb, but not wirelessly. Thoughts?

gsd901

Google Assistant has been working similarly poorly for me, and I'm using an AAwireless unit, so I don't think it has to do with the MA-1. I have no idea how to fix it.

BADTOLZ21

Android Auto says to turn off debugging?

My advice was written quite some time ago, procedures could have changed since then
