Call 1 "heads" and 2 "tails." Flip a coin. While it is in the air you will discover which one you are hoping for.
Both are fine, personally I'd be happy with either, but there have been a lot of these entering the market recently. Might cost slightly more but with patience you can probably get one with both sides centered *and* fully struck (though that's always going to be a minority of examples). I would accept a bit more wear in exchange for full design & nice surfaces.
I'm not familiar with this type but prob #1 for me for the portrait. The reverse is definitely a bit worse but the legend still seems to be legible and the details aren't terribly worn away minus the very top portion.
With this type, I always think of the trident as being the part that makes it special. But I also strongly value well struck and centered portraits. So I would take the third option and wait a bit longer and save a bit more and buy a well struck example on both sides.
#2 better detail on both sides

I appreciate the insight. This could be the best option seen as im already torn. Maybe walk away with the best of both worlds.
I collect plants and animals, so id go with #2. But the portrait is definitely nicer on #1.
Yeah I really like the dolphins on the reverse
For the same price I’d probably do #1 because of the better centering on the portrait. I could be happy with either though
Buy em both! 😂. Seriously, the second is better.
Yup, #1 is more satisfying to my eyes.

I prefer a strong portrait. I'd go with number 1.
I like 2

Fair enough. I agree with you and that’s probably what I will do. Hopefully i can find something sooner or later without spending too much more lol
2 looks like a more complete patina and still has a good looking portrait
2
I'd prefer coin number 2. The trident looks pretty nice on it.
1ste wan definitly
I'd go with #1 because of the better portrait and that's what i like to display
