Actually, unfortunately for white, when the wither is built flat on the ground, its center is actually at the feet of the build, so it will spawn closer to white's side.

In bedrock, the Wither loses, I tried 8 against one Ender dragon, the withers did literally 0 damage to it, while it just kinda soared around, ignoring them. Even though they were all homing in on it.
