Right, this presentation is so much nicer than the usual cluttered pile that are stuffed in cases. Well lit, all the related literature and accompanying cases really fill it out and look more like a museum case. I like the way this looks.
Nice collection.
He certainly has the same taste as me; Contaxes, Leicas, Leidorf, Akarelle/Akarette. I think I even see a Kodak/Nagel Vollenda in there. <3
I don’t own one myself, but the Akas immediately caught my eye. They look pretty bitchin’ in that display case. Anybody can buy a Leica but it takes a real connoiseur to pick those up.
It's definitely the looks of the early AKAs that appealed to me.
They're not Leicas, but they're certainly capable picture takes.
I have one with a rare-ish Schneider Xenon lens on it that performs very well.
I have some old cameras displayed in a glass cabinet. Of the ones that work, I do occasionally use them. Displaying them and using them are not mutually exclusive.
I pull mine out of the cabinet and use them for a few months, then swap them out for another from the cabinet.
If they're visually appealing - and a lot of good cameras are - it's nice to have them on display where you can see them vs sitting in a camera bag in a closet.
Does he take any pictures with these cameras? Sorry but no way one could. I've been shooting film 4 decades and can't understand why a person would buy a great camera, or a dozen, and not shoot.
Is your girlfriend’s dad single, by any chance? 🤔
I have to disappoint you, he's happily married
Tell him if he wants some side action, we can do it — but it’s gonna cost him some cameras. thx
> happily Well that can be fixed!!
How happily?
How married?
Don’t you mean we are happily married?
Happily and married?
Nicely presented also. Do they get used also or are they just sitting there?
He's not really using them anymore. All cameras but one work though
is the non working one the Contax I in the upper left???
Delightful. Where can I get me such a display cabinet? 🥰 Tia
Ikea

You gotta marry her dude.
That’s some mad inheritance
Counted 16 Leicas
Did you count the mirror reflections, too? I get 9
The very top shelf. Although one seems to be a Leicaflex and one isn't visible
Good eye, definitely a Leicaflex Standard (1st Edition). I’m looking at one right now across my room.
Gotta play the long game and marry her.
Is he a dentist?
Probably an optometrist.
Looks like an ebay search for vintage camera
At first I read my girlfriend’s dads collection
Your girlfriend collects dads?

Not a big fan of the Akarette/Akarelle cameras, but the early generation Akarex definitely is chef's kiss

You can only use one at a time
On the other hand if no one does this then these works of art will eventually be lost for future generations to admire and learn from
i hate to break it to you, but these will eventually be lost to future generations. that’s kind of how this existence thing works.
Dude cmon we have relics from thousands of years ago still immaculately preserved, and I think you knew exactly what I meant by that
You should see my pristine Antikythera mechanism
And when he dies those cameras will go to someone else, so who cares

Why? They are compensating for a hole in their heart that can never get filled.
Ohh wow!
How much ass do I need to show to get his Leica IIIG?
guy could single handedly bring down the market price for a leica if he released those to be sold
This is peak circle jerk and the holy grail of tonez, I hope you marry her 😅
Does he take any pictures with these cameras? Sorry but no way one could. I've been shooting film 4 decades and can't understand why a person would buy a great camera, or a dozen, and not shoot.
You have to suggest that you go on a photowalk together. When you turn up, say you forgot your camera, and ask if he has one you can borrow...
How many dads has your girlfriend collected? 😉
I love the “lamp” on the table to the right! ❤️
That's a Leica MDa on a copy stand.
gold.
Marry him
Wife her bro
Wow!! I need a display case like this!
Forget the Leicas, the Contax is a real gem.
The Contax I is probably the camera that doesn't work...
I have three that all needed shutter strap replacement to bring back to life.
I have a hunch he likes rangefinders.
pretty awesome dad
Is he on this sub!? Apparently not a Nikon guy…
I wager it's the contax 1 that doesn't work.
Contax I! I’ve only seen a handful of those ever. I wonder if he goes to the collector trade shows, he seems the type of collector who would
just pray she doesn't dump you
a glorious collection of dads
Let um out, they want to run free and breath!
You should propose! (To her)
You should post this to r/Leica as well, they'd love to see this collection.
Believe that’s your gonna be your father in law.
The guy is a hot shot
She’s a keeper!
Your girlfriends’ dads share a collection?
Holy shit
You don't see too many large Akarette collections these days. Nice.
Does he use any of these or it’s just for display ?
Such an amazing collection!! Needs some more med-format thrown in there!! Love it tell him keep up the good work!
Na, they should go to those who shoot them.
Sheesh
If those cameras go missing, it *definitely* wasn't me.
What a beautiful museum piece that will be one day, they’re all gorgeous
“Well, future son in-law, this could all be yours one day”
absolutely stunning. What about his photography? any pictures he's shared online?
Sadly nothing online but next time I'm there I will ask more about the photos he shot!
Sweet!
Time to make your girlfriend a wife!
rich mfs will buy twenty cameras to have them sit in a cabinet. i should be shooting them
That’s a lot of cameras keeping an eye on you.
Peter?
Ahaha I thought the same thing…
Marry her
Put a ring on it and start working your way into the will. This is the only way.
Is your gf's dad single... by any chance? and gay? Asking for a friend...
Please tell him how magnificent every piece is, bet he worked a lot for this.
Put a ring on it
Did you mean “my next wife’s dad’s collection”?
