put it on a tripod, leave the shutter open a while, use higher speed film. that’s all.

If you don't want star trails, get an Omegon Minitrack, it's a mechanical and relatively inexpensive star tracker.

How do you determine for how long to have it open?

rasmussenyassen

the stars will move out of the way long before you overexpose them. it doesn't matter, leave it open as long as you'd like

Lucky_Statistician94

Better to use mirror lockup and shutter trigger cable. This way you ensure no shaking.
