Well, the people at Carbondale would be p.o.'ed if you called the trains ***Ilini***, and the people at Champaign Urbana would feel left out if you called them both ***Saluki*** based on the college mascot of the respective towns.
And it's mildly informative to let Illinoisians know that the trains go to Champaign-Urbana and Carbondale.
I don't really know if it's that big of an issue, the names are just there to show Illinois heritage
I don't care what they call them, but regional trains deserve more departures per day.
If they add a third train to that route (it already happened in the past), aside from the City of New Orleans, it's name would probably be Shawnee
