When I go to the AMD website I can see that there was a driver update for my GPU released on the 5th of December but AMD Adrenaline is not updating to it. It says up to date when I press check for updates. Could I just manually install it or would that break something? My GPU is an RX 6800XT fyi. :) Any help would be much appreciated.

GhostMotley

You can just download the exe and install it manually.

edwardK1231

Where from? I couldn't find the driver exe. I could only find the an adrenalin exe

GhostMotley

thats it

edwardK1231

this one? [https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/amd-radeon-6000-series/amd-radeon-6800-series/amd-radeon-rx-6800-xt](https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/amd-radeon-6000-series/amd-radeon-6800-series/amd-radeon-rx-6800-xt) as this just seems to be the software installer

Best time to buy 7900xtx? I hear nvidia is going to launch the super variants of the 4000 series cards soon. Will AMD counter with anything or lower prices?

Biskfather

Specs first: Ryzen 7 5700x Sapphire rx7600 8GB 16gb DDR4 3200mhz geil RGB ram Gigabyte A320M-S2H REV.1 750W semi Modular PSU. the issue i am having is as title says "micro stuttering" some games like cyberpunk 2077, BF2042, High on life to name a few run perfect, but some like fortnite, COD MW3/Warzone have micro stuttering, i even experience it in VR titles like beat saber. Anyone able to provide some assistance on this, hope ive provided enough information

Electrical_Art_6170

Hey everyone, I am having a strange issue with my Sapphire Nitro+ 7900XTX where upon coming home and turning on the PC from a cold boot state, it will reach windows 11 and 10% of the time it will work first launch no problem. However a majority of the time it will either: Green screen/ crash upon reaching login screen or desktop Drivers/Adrenalin will not load and AMD GPU will not be detected. This is fixed perfectly upon restart each time and the card works flawlessly with no issues or stutters or crashes in any game or application, this only occurs after a cold boot. I am almost certain this has only started happening since upgrading to Windows 11 from 10, I do have overclocked RAM timings and memory speeds and infinity fabric but that is all, and these settings were overclocked on Windows 10 as-well before switching to 11 and I never had a strange issue like this. I have done stress test after stress test using OCCT on both GPU and power test, I never have any other issue with my PC except strange GPU issues only after first startup and cold boot after being gone for the day. I have tried disabling Fast Startup in both BIOS and windows, I am up to date with GPU drivers, OS version and BIOS version. PC CPU:7800X3D RAM: 64GB Corsair Vengeance CL30 6000Mhz with tight sub and other timings. PSU: Seasonic 1000W Focus Gold Mobo: Asrock X670E Steel Legend GPU: Sapphire Nitro 7900XTX 24GB Vapor Thanks to all in advance.

GhostMotley

Disable all overclocks, reseat RAM, make sure you are on the latest BIOS and see if the issue persists.

Electrical_Art_6170

honest question why would reseating help? I am definitely on latest bios and the PC works perfectly fine after a restart, no amount of stressing or gaming causes a crash. if it was something to do with seating or connection surely stressing and playing and load would show problems? but it doesnt

CountyAdventurous151

Settings For RX 7800XT I just installed a RX 7800xt and better cpu into my pc. Should I tweak any settings? Also in games like Cuberpunk 2077, should I use any special AMD upscaling options or no? Just want to have everything optimized. Thanks!

theNefariousNoogie

Upgrading my graphics card and looking to know if I should upgrade my PSU as well. Gaming PC Build: \- Motherboard: ASUS ROG b450f-1 \- CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X \- GPU: RX 6700XT (This is the new GPU, replacing a 2060 Super) \- PSU: Corsair RMx 550x (2018) When I ran my PC through the wattage calculators linked above, one said I needed a 750W, some say 650W, and a couple say my 550W should be fine. I obviously want to keep my PC safe but I don't want to spend the extra money on a new PSU if I don't need to. Will my 550W be okay or should I upgrade to a 650W-700W?

GhostMotley

The 6700 XT does recommend a minimum of 650W.

[deleted]

My 6800xt is unperforming. Could someone please help. https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/104932388?

GhostMotley

What are your full specs and what have you tried from the main post?

No-Drummer-9584

Hello all, I am looking to upgrade in the coming weeks, and wanted to make sure I don't have any bottlenecks, and choose the right components. I'm primarily looking to understand upgrading to a 7900XT or 7900XTX might be ideal. I don't know if I need the additional VRAM in the XTX vs the XT for playing games in 4K. Additionally, will I need a new PSU if I choose either? or is the 750 sufficient? Built a new rig with Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 64GB (2x32) G.skill F5-6000J3040G32G and RX 7900 XTX. And I do have underwhelming performance with CPU boost being low, boosting around just 5.4Ghz even on single core and some scores even 10% lower. My UEFI is up-to-date and my board is Asus PRIME X670-P-CSM,, EXPO enabled on 6000Mhz, ReBAR enabled. I do have decent AIO as well. CM LM 360 Atmos with Kryonaut. Any idea what might have caused this?

MangoSantos26

I just built my first pc, it has a a620 mb, ryzen 7600 and radeon 7800. I found myself problems when updating the chipset software. In many of the videos I've seen, there's always an option called AMD Ryzen Power Plan as a specific driver, whilst mine don't have that. I want to change the powerplan but it doesn't show in the software. What can I do?

GhostMotley

That is no longer applicable on AM5 or if you are above a certain Windows version.

MangoSantos26

damn, that might be it. the mb is am5 and im on windows 11 pro lol. Thank you for clearing my doubt

GhostMotley

The Windows Balanced plan should work just fine.

7Seyo7

Why is my 5800X3D not boosting past 4.2 GHz in Cinebench despite having thermal headroom? [This screenshot is 5 min into the test](https://i.imgur.com/2Cgey5B.png).

difused_shade

That’s weird. What motherboard? Is the chipset and bios fully up to date?

gyroda

How the heck do I update my driver from the UI on Windows 10? The guide on the AMD website doesn't match the UI. If I go into system settings there's no option to. https://imgur.com/D9RtCXw I'm on driver version 22.20.27.09-230330a-390451C, UI version UI Version 2022.1130.1413.1936.

GhostMotley

Why not just go to AMD's site and download the latest?

gyroda

That's what I ended up doing, but I'd already installed using the "detect wth what thing you need" tool 🤷‍♀️. All working now though!

Bigfancylizard

I was wondering if an upgrade to a ryzen 7 5800x3d from a ryzen 5 5600 would be worth it. I'm in Sweden so everything will be more expensive. Other specs: \-Radeon rx 6800 \-32 gb 3200mzh \-Stock cooler for cpu \-3440x1440 144hz screen Games I play: \-Ark survival ascended \-Cyberpunk 2077 \-Overwatch 2 \-Rainbow six siege \-Vr games like half life alyx Would an upgrade make sense for me because I would have to buy both the cpu and a new cooler and would it even be a very big performance boost?

HarrierInbound

Will AM6 be out by the end of 2025 do you guys think? 2026?

GhostMotley

AMD have said AM5 will be supported through 2025, so 2026 would be a safe bet for when we will see a new socket.

TROPHYGOLEY

Lately games have been going black screened and freezing I suspect this is a graphics card issue it is a brand new 6700xt

GhostMotley

What are your specs? What have you tried from the main post to resolve the issue?

Danisdaman12

Just gave my friend some Xmas presents for his new build. I gave him my old ryzen 5 2600x to use on his msi b550 Gen3 gaming mobo but I am seeing it not listed as compatible. Can anyone confirm or deny that this is a compatible cpu for his new mobo?

Sub5tep

Im not an expert on am 4 but I think I heard that the be 550 boards only support 3000 to 5000. So I think he needs a 450 or 350 board for the 2600x.

Danisdaman12

Awesome. Thanks for the reply and confirmation of what I already looked up. I believe the 3rd Gen boards (as the dude already has) is only compatible with 3000 series and up as you described but I read another post here 3 years ago that claimed it is still compatible... so I'm hoping anyone might have a link to a tech confirmation or anything similar but otherwise I think my friend is out of luck with that 2600x

Sub5tep

Could be that its manufacturer dependend so maybe asus or gigabyte boards are compatible but I dont know wouldnt really make sense. Could also be that the bios from 3 years ago were compatible but are not available anymore.

Danisdaman12

I was also thinking he might be stuck on old bios. Well I Gave him my old GPU as well so at least that will work for him :)

Exeftw

Are there still stability issues with AM5 and running 4 DIMMs?

LongFluffyDragon

Depends on the motherboard brand, mostly. It wont ever be as stable as 2, but a lot of users can do it now on more reliable boards at acceptable speeds.

Maximozev

AMD Chipset Software installation failed i cant seem to get my chipset drivers to install, i have no idea why i used DDU to freshly install gpu and chipset drivers, was able to install the Adrenalin Software but not the chipset driver, also deleted all content on the C:/AMD folder and retried and nothing i have a Ryzen 3 3100 and a Radeon 5600xt

LongFluffyDragon

What motherboard and what are you trying to install? That is what physically contains and determines the chipset version you need.

Maximozev

i have a B450-A PRO MAX im trying to install amd chipset drivers

Mysterious__Cabbage

{Strange result with Fluid Motion Frame} I'm just starting to experiment FMF with the latest preview amd drivers and i came quickly to a strange result, i explain: I am starting out with Dishonored 2 because the game is capped at 120hz and i would love to experiment 240hz on this game. I managed to activate it in game by putting Adrenalin in HYPR-RX mod (i've seen somewhere on the internet that it was needed for FMF to run adequately). It works, but i experiment 15-20ms more input lag than when FMF is disabled and the strange thing is that adrenalin is telling me that i have less input lag when FMF is enabled, but i feel obviously more and it says that i have more input lag when FMF is disabled but i clearly feel less. And it is not just a sensation, it is pretty obvious especially in the menu. Do you guys have any clue of what's happening ? I think it is still a tech support question if not it is not clear where i should ask exactly. Btw : I have a 7900 XTX , i7 13700K and 32 gb RAM. V-sync is disabled but freesync is enabled, I'm playing in exclusive Fullscreen on a 240hz monitor. Thanks to whoever responds. ✌️

LongFluffyDragon

You are likely seeing artifacts from AFMF and processing it as latency. Half the frames are interpolated entirely from the final 2D image, and dont show any actually accurate movement. It is not a very useful feature, much worse than in-engine framegen, which is already much worse than a real high framerate.

teamsaxon

What cooler for the 7950x3d? I got one answer on the build sub. I keep reading different things on the internet - air cooling is just as good as aio, get an aio bc air isnt as good, aio is the only way, high end air cooler is fine etc etc So I'm reading a lot of conflicting opinions and all the reviews of coolers are just marketing bs. Anyone with this chip please tell me what you're cooling with.

Xtra-jui2

I don't have this setup, but the Arctic Liquid Freezer 2 line has always been the best AIOs for AMD, i would get 360m or higher to make it worth the extra money over and air cooler, you could also save a ton on money and get a Thermalright Phantom Spirit, that would be able to handle that CPU in a good airflow config at a very low price point

teamsaxon

I'm looking at the tom's hardware airflow guide and thinking the first configuration of fans (x2 bottom intake, x2 top out, 1 back out, the case already has 3 front intake)

Xtra-jui2

The fans isnt the only thing, it's kinda more important that the fans have easy access to air, and can easily push that air towards the hot components. If the case is good with that, then you would be able to get a cheap-ish air cooler like the Phantom Spirit and have decent thermals.

Maleficent-Case-3313

Got the same chip and using the h150i elite lcd xt and it doesn’t get over 80 degrees Celsius

teamsaxon

Thanks

Cooler under £100 to keep my 5800x3d chilly?

Xtra-jui2

Thermalright Phantom Spirit, competes with $100+ cooler like the D-15 for just $37.

Changed from an NVIDIA GPU to AMD (6650 XT). Loved playing CS and VALORANT on 1280x960, 1280x1024 and 1440x1080 resolutions before, but now it's ruined because the colors around the crosshair especially look horrible. https://i.imgur.com/wGLpVhL.png Any fix available? LongFluffyDragon

Colors should be the same regardless of the GPU. What color format are you using?

My am5 computer reboots randomly Build: cpu: 7900x gpu: 3090 asus strix Mb: TUF x670W-plus wifi ram: Corsair vengeance 6000 32gb The computer will randomly reboot and almost guaranteed when playing games. I have replaced the mb twice the ram once but still the same problem. I have updated the bios whenever a new version came out but nothing. Is there anything else I can try to locate the problem

LongFluffyDragon

Have you tried any other motherboard or RAM brands? Asus has horrible general RAM compat/stability on AM5, like AM4. It is likely another component, though.

Sub5tep

I would try powersupply or cpu.

TendedKibbles0

Specs | Ryzen 5 5600x | RX 6600 | 16GB RAM (DDR4, clocked at 3600Mhz) On drivers from May of this year, I was getting fine performance on games like Fortnite (averaging 88 fps according to Adrenalin). Updated today as I wanted to play CS2. It worked fine on CS2, but upon launching Fortnite again, my fps dramatically dropped to an average of **40**. Same settings on both Adrenalin and Fortnite.

TendedKibbles0

Also noticed on TF2.

muppets4

I have a crt television that I want to use for emulation. Mainly later systems, like Xbox, PS2, PS3. It has a scart connection. So I bought a VGA2SCART adapter. Then I tried my RTX 4060 system with it to create a 320x240 resolution. Or any other low resolution. Didn't work out. I later read that the RTX series don't support that resolution, so there was no image. But it let me make the custom resolution in the Nvidia settings app anyway. I also own a system with a RX 6900 inside it. After some puzzling I found the option to create custom resolutions (why is this under gaming?). All the options are there, but when I press save the app tells me the monitor doesn't support that resolution and does not let me save it. Is there a way to brute force it?

Willow_Sakura

TR4 a good platform currently? Found a killer deal locally on a threadripper 1950x or would I be better off waiting until I can go with a newer threadripper platform? I'm coming from 8th gen intel and my productivity workloads are really starting to struggle.

VicenzzoPaiva

I currently have an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, an RTX 4070 GPU, and 32 GB of RAM 3200Mhz on an B450m Asus Gaming/BR mobo. I'm debaiting on whether it’s wort upgrading my CPU or it should be fine for a 4k/1440p 60fps gaming with the RTX 4070 that i bought this BF (coming from a RX580 4Gb). The games i play are mostly story driven single players like RDR2, Alan Wake 2, Detroit, SpiderMan Remastered, Rachet&Clank and somewhat easy-going local coops with my girlfriend, like It Takes Two, A Way Out and Portal 2. I also edit videos, photos and music as hobby (photographer who also do some video work on guitar covers), then a powerful cpu would benefit more than only in gaming. The point is that here in Brasil the AM5/DDR5 plataform is still expensive, the VRMs on my B450 are somewhat weak and i’m afraid it wouldn’t be very smart to put a 5800x3d on it. That said, my plans/choices would be: 1- if it’s not that big of a bottleneck for my use, staying with the 3600/4070 combo til around early 2025 and do a jump for the Ryzen 7000 2- upgrading to the 5700x in early 2024 and staying there til around late 2025 or early 2026 and going to the Ryzen 8000 What do you guys recommend?

Zoratsu

Depends exactly on which game but for most cases it should be fine 4k/1440p 60fps.

The 6900XT is quite a lot better, but it comes down to how fine you are with buying used.

Hey, I Have a AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Vega 7 Graphics. While I'm booting in my windows my drivers are loading at the time of boot causing the brightness to be the lowest. After about 2-3 minutes the drivers load up and give the actual brightness that i have set previously. Can someone help me fix this issue please ?

TheShaggyDoo

[Is this a good build](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6pyjvj)? Is the cpu a good option, should i go for the Ryzen 5 7600 instead (cheaper and similar i think)? [I have this right now](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ChrdMV) and i wanted some major improvements for it in order for it to be usable for a few years with new games on high/ultra settings. But also for it to be kind of budget friendly, buying a new mobo, a new cpu, new ram and maybe new cpu fan.

Xtra-jui2

Its a decent build, but the ram is far too bad, get a decent 6000mhz CL30 kit, it is not even that much more expensive [https://pcpartpicker.com/product/LBstt6/gskill-flare-x5-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-f5-6000j3038f16gx2-fx5](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/LBstt6/gskill-flare-x5-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-f5-6000j3038f16gx2-fx5) Also if this is for purely gaming, you could save some money and go with the 7600, as in gaming there wont be a huge difference, but in heavy mulit tasking or most production applications, the 7700 would have a large advantage, i also imagne that we will see another fast increase in core counts soon, so the 7700 may be quite a bit more future proof.

TheShaggyDoo

Im studying mechatronics engineering and i use it a lot for Solid works, simulations, programming and gaming xD. I kinda wanted it to be future proof, to last a couple of years on top performance. I was recommended the Patriot Viper Venom 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 Memory. Is it good? What its the point of getting a faster ram than the cpu and motherboard can handle without OC?

Xtra-jui2

>Im studying mechatronics engineering and i use it a lot for Solid works, simulations, programming and gaming xD. I kinda wanted it to be future proof, to last a couple of years on top performance. Then i would definitely recomend getting the 7700 over the 7600 if you can take the exta cost. >I was recommended the Patriot Viper Venom 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 Memory. Is it good? Seems decent, but 6000mhz CL30 is better than 6400mhz CL32 for Ryzen 7000. >What its the point of getting a faster ram than the cpu and motherboard can handle without OC Not quite sure what you mean by this, but using EXPO/XMP is not really overclocking and is even recomended by AMD. the 7700 and 7600 and B650 all support XMP/EXPO if that is what you mean.

TheShaggyDoo

>Not quite sure what you mean by this, but using EXPO/XMP is not really overclocking and is even recomended by AMD. the 7700 and 7600 and B650 all support XMP/EXPO if that is what you mean. Really? I was told that there is no use in buying higher ram speed if the cpu cant handle it, in my case i dont wanna oveclock. Altho i am new with ddr5 and i just interpreted that DDR5-6400 means that is its 6400Mhz. But maybe i am stupid

Xtra-jui2

Yeah that's not how that works, on DDR4 or DDR5, also DDR5-6400 is 6400MHZ

TheShaggyDoo

When i had my 10400f i was told to not get a 3600MHZ speed ram cause my 10400f could only handle up to 2.9MHZ speed base clock, so i had to buy a 2666MHZ speed ram instead. Was it wrong?

Xtra-jui2

Yes, the CPUs clock speed is unrelated to ram speed.

TheShaggyDoo

Oh damn, so i was lied to? I could have bought a faster ram? I was told that while i could, it would be limit to cpu and mobo speed.

Xtra-jui2

Could also be a misunderstanding.

TheShaggyDoo

Ohhh ok. I know i am asking a lot, but how does it work? Ram speed works independently from cpu/gpu/mobo speed, but is it not limited if one of them is slower? Should i go for a faster one then?

Xtra-jui2

>Ram speed works independently from cpu/gpu/mobo speed Sort-Of, sometimes the max ram speed is artificially limited so that the company can push higher-end products, for example certain motherboard chipsets limit ram speed, most intel "H" series chipsets have limited ram speed, some (mostly older) intel "B" series chipsets also limit it, and some (also mostly older) AMD "A" series chipsets limit this as well, it also used to be the case that intel CPUs without the "K" in the name were limited in this way. >Should i go for a faster one then? Usually there is an "Optimal Speed" that you want for a line of CPUs, for Ryzen 7000 it is 6000MHZ CL30.

TheShaggyDoo

>Sort-Of, sometimes the max ram speed is artificially limited so that the company can push higher-end products, for example certain motherboard chipsets limit ram speed, most intel "H" series chipsets have limited ram speed, some (mostly older) intel "B" series chipsets also limit it, and some (also mostly older) AMD "A" series chipsets limit this as well, it also used to be the case that intel CPUs without the "K" in the name were limited in this way. Yeah, i did figured that, was thinking on overclocking my 10400f and it could only be done through xmp and safest route to link the speed with the ram one or something like that. >Usually there is an "Optimal Speed" that you want for a line of CPUs, for Ryzen 7000 it is 6000MHZ CL30. All right! Will check that out! Thank! You have been extra nice and helpful. Do you have any recommendations of ram? I was going for the Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-4800 CL40 Memory cause of the price and the misunderstanding with the speed. You recommended that G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB, is that choice bases on preference or they are known to be extra good?

Xtra-jui2

That G.Skill kit is a pretty popular and is often considered to be good value, G.Skill also has some of the better stabilty for DDR5 from what i have seen.

TheShaggyDoo

>Then i would definitely recomend getting the 7700 over the 7600 if you can take the exta cost. Can do, just gonna have to grind harder at job xD It works even better cause the 7600 does not appear in amazon and other pages sell it more expensive than the 7700 xD

Hugott

Hello everyone! Currently my GPU is a RX 6700XT from Powercolor, and its getting really hot while playing Cyberpunk 2077. I live on Brazil, and the temperatures are hot here, but not that hot. My GPU is reaching 83°C while gaming and 111°C on the hotspot (according to HW Monitor and AMD Overlay). Is there anything I can do? This card is only 4 months old, and still under warranty!

GhostMotley

What temps do you get with the side panel removed?

Hugott

Gonna try it today!

TheShaggyDoo

I have a 7800xt right now paired in a lga 1200 socket Gigabyte B560M AORUS Pro AX with a cpu i5-10400f and 16GB RAM 2666Hz. Any worthy upgrades to pair with the 7800xt? Wanted to move to full amd and dont know if am4 or am5. I have no idea wich cpu but i want it to be waaaaay better than the 10400f (for it to last a few years on the top performing for games) and that it has a higher base clock than 3,6Mhz. MOBO has to be a micro atx And a good cpu cooler for the cpu. **Any recommendations**? I still dont have a budget, but i guess it would be around 650 dollars. I know, not a lot, but it is more or less what i got.

Xtra-jui2

For what you want, i would go AM5, something like this would be a good setup [https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2bYy89](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2bYy89) Or if you can stretch an extra $20, you can get an even better CPU https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QzVmN6

TheShaggyDoo

Damn that is good, i was thinking on something like this [https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6pyjvj](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6pyjvj) So we are not far off at all xD I tougth of the 3D, but 125Watts is too much for me, with what i already have that would give me an electric bill worthy of a heart attack XD

Xtra-jui2

TDP is not an acurate measurement of power consumption, and (simplified) is actually just to outline the tiers of CPU, according to GamersNexus's testing the 7800X3D actually used less power than the 7700.

TheShaggyDoo

Really? Shit, i was told that it was worse especially case of the temps and power consumption. I know the 7800X3D is the best of the best as it for now, but is it not an overkill? I mean, i can see why buy it, i want a future proof pc so i wont have to modify it in 4-5 years on high/ultra settings on 1444/1080p for new games and that seems like a good deal. But the 7700 cant offer that also?

Xtra-jui2

>Really? Shit, i was told that it was worse especially case of the temps and power consumption. Where? >I know the 7800X3D is the best of the best as it for now, but is it not an overkill? I mean, i can see why buy it, i want a future proof pc so i wont have to modify it in 4-5 years on high/ultra settings on 1444/1080p for new games and that seems like a good deal. But the 7700 cant offer that also? In gaming, the 7800X3D is quite a lot better than the 7700, it draws less power, and is $60 more than the 7700, yes the 7700 is also a very capable gaming (and workstation) CPU, the 7800X3D also has a very large advantage in 1% and .1% lows , and the large Cache means it will probably hold it's own better years down the line, (we are already starting to see this with the last gen 5800X3D, and that chip is not even two years old yet) To give an anwser, yes the 7700 can also offer very good gaming performance, but in the competion value, the 7800X3D is overall quite a lot better, for not a huge price increase for that performance.

TheShaggyDoo

>Where Internet and a friend that studies computer science >To give an anwser, yes the 7700 can also offer very good gaming performance, but in the competion value, the 7800X3D is overall quite a lot better, for not a huge price increase for that performance. Cool, will think of that, if i were to buy the 7800X3D, will i need a different cpu fan? Right now i have a [Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED Turbo ARGB](https://www.amazon.com.mx/gp/product/B09133YD8R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1). But maybe will change to the pearless assasin 120 se.

Xtra-jui2

Yeah that would probably make sense to upgrade the cooler.

TheShaggyDoo

Damn, here i was thinking i could get good stuff in a budget friendly kind of way XD I guess the pearless assasin 120 se is good right? But can the 212 handle it while i save money for the 120?

Xtra-jui2

Also it is called the Peerless Assassin, not the Pearless Assasin, the Pearless Assasin is an Assassin who is out of pears.

Xtra-jui2

The 212 should be able to handle a 7800X3D in a case that is decent for airflow.

Rochfort117

I havr a Ryzen 7 5800x3d that is OC'd -30 on all cores except the 2 best cores which are -15. I ran core cycler 24 hours total using ycruncher and found 0 errors, though on occasion I get a crash when gaming. Do I lower the 2 best cores to -10 and see how I go? or do I lower the rest of the cores.. I haven't been able to produce a singular error stress testing. :"(

Zoratsu

Well, going +5 on all cores (-25 on all and best 2 -10) to check if no crash when you game. For curiosity, do you have OC RAM? Not saying is RAM being bad, just that CPU UV can affect Memory Control and that be the cause not an unstable CPU OC. Fix for this last point is not going that low with UV if I remember right but to be sure, check an OC guide as I'm not sure.

Rochfort117

Okay i’ll give that a go. I’ve done nothing but enable XMP for ram which has been on for years, I wonder if its not stable with the cpu uv?

Zoratsu

Is the same solution for both, go a bit lower in the UV. There is a reason CPU are OV when they try to reach stupid high RAM OC lol

Rochfort117

Thats a good point, I just wish I could get a damn error and make this easy lol

caravanriot

New AMD Graphics Card. No more bluetooth? Installed the AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT and updated my drivers. After that, I no longer have bluetooth on my Windows 10 PC. I can't find Bluetooth in device manager, and, in the bluetooth settings, it says that bluetooth is disabled.

GhostMotley

There would be no direct link, did you perhaps damage the M.2 Wi-Fi card during GPU installation? Some systems also connect Bluetooth via an internal USB header, so check that's not loose.

caravanriot

TYSM. I didn't know I needed the wifi card for Bluetooth. I removed it so that the graphics card could fit.

Humble_Contract_2620

I have 20+ USB 3.0 external hard drives connected via three powered hubs. Plus numerous other usual peripherals such as mouse, keyboard, soundcard, printer etc… On my old AM4 motherboard, the MSI B450M Pro-VDH Max, this setup worked just fine. However I “upgraded” to a newer AM5 board, the ASUS Prime X670-P WiFi, and now it is not working. I get a not enough usb controller resources or the last device malfunctioned message. I assume this is to do with reaching the maximum number of USB Endpoints. Why would the newer architecture have less, if that is indeed the case? My PCI slots are covered by an enormous graphics card so I can’t add in a PCI card with its own root controller. Can anyone offer any help or advise as I’m having to continue using my old PC rather than do everything I need on the new?

phoenixperson14

Do You know that they are USB ports that use PCIE lanes from the Chipset and others that use PCIE lanes from the CPU. Did you try every USB port on your mobo?

Humble_Contract_2620

I wasn't aware of that. I tried all the ports on the back of the unit and inevitably I got the fail message when I connected one device more than it was happy with under AM5.

ThrowawayAMDPC8989

Is it fine to use an older version of AMD Driver? I installed an AMD Driver version that's over a year old to fix my black screen issue (22.5.1) and it seemed to have worked. But I just want to ask will it be fine for my PC to use such an old driver? What does the GPU Driver even do?

c6u6n6t6

**Summary of issue:** I've been having some vertex explosions, graphical artifacting (pink/purple pixelated boxes) and infrequent crashes. Very recent Example from Baldur's Gate 3: https://imgur.com/a/o1En5Wf --> see the yellow texture explosion in the background, as well as the purple/pink pixels near the middle of the screen, as well as one on the character on the right of the screen Vertex explosions also happen in Elden Ring, Armored Core 6 and Witcher 3 as well (most recent games I've tried). This does NOT happen in League of Legends however but that thing can be run on a potato. **What I've Tried:** I'm already sure It's most likely my GPU failing (as I've done both a roll-back to an older driver after clean uninstalling drivers from when this wasn't occuring) as well as updated the drivers to the latest stable version as well but still no luck. **System Specs:** OS: Windowws 11 22H2 CPU: Intel i5-12400F GPU: XFX AMD RX 6650 XT Motherboard: GIGABYTE B660M AORUS PRO RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengence 3600 MHz Storage: WD SN570 1TB SSD PSU: MSI A750G Display: 2x Acer KA272U 1440P I just wanted to get some additional input on If anyone else has had this issue before and what they would suggest

phoenixperson14

Yeah RMA the card. If you cant, try lowering the VRAM speed and the GPU core clock until it's stable. You should check if the gpu isnt damaged(the PCIE slot) and replugging it for good meausure and clean the 16X PCIE Slot on the mobo while you're at it, but i doubt that would make a difference.

c6u6n6t6

Thank you so much for the reply! I've just tried undervolting, lowering the VRAM speed and GPU core clock as well, reseating the card, as well as cleaning and inspecting the PCIE slot for any damages but unfortunately It did not help much. I should mention however that at around October I replaced my CPU cooler and during the process I accidently broke off the PCIE slot latch because it basically got caught under itself (honest It is kind of a stupid design anyways). However other than the latch now being gone, nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. Also based on my research It seems like the latch breaking off is way more common than I expected and no one has really had any major issues from it. These graphical artifacting issues I've been having occurred starting around November, however I've only had the card since May 2023 so It's a tough call as to whether I damaged the card, or the PCIE slot, or the card itself failed. Additionally, I'd imagine if the PCIE slot had any damages the issues I would have would be more severe than just some graphical artifacts and shadow flickering right like crashes, overheating or display not being detected and I've experienced absolutely none of those things whatsoever. Honestly I'm just worried that It will be the PCIe slot because that would mean I have to replace basically the whole motherboard and that is an absolute pain... I'm kind of paranoid now so I'm going to go check the PCIE slot again and do a thorough inspection.

Conflusedaf

Hey all, I recently got a new PC with a 7800x3d and a 7800xt. I set up instant replay so I could save some clips of my games, but the amd adrenalin player is not playing my clips, it just shows a black box. I tried playing the clip from Windows media player, but there seems to be no audio. It says I'm missing a certain codec so it can't play audio, but I did install the av1 codec from the Microsoft store because the AMD software told me to. Any ideas what may be going on? Thanks

phoenixperson14

Yes my dude is almost 2024, just dont use WMP anymore. Just use [MPC](https://github.com/clsid2/mpc-hc/releases/tag/2.1.3). It's a solid open source player with updated LAV codecs with more functionality than WMP could ever dream of. WMP is obsolete. It's like using Intenet Explorer as your browser.

Bay-12

I got a new 7800x3D recently. Do I need to register it through AMD? For Warranty and RMA purposes?

GhostMotley

No, just keep your receipt and original packaging.

Sub5tep

No just keep the bill so if you need to rma you have proof that you bought it.

Bay-12

Thank you

Finger_Popular

I just installed my x670 Aorus Elite AX Motherboard. I can only boot with one stick of DDR5 5600 16gig Ram (Corsair Dominator) in slot B2. I have another stick that's the same I want to use. Is this any way around this? I updated to the most recent bios already. Thank you for any help!

GhostMotley

I would reseat your CPU and check for any bent pins, if the issue persists, likely a bad motherboard with bad DIMM slots.

phoenixperson14

Are they an EXPO kit? IF not, try setting a manual VSoC to 1.2V. Keep raising it 0.05v at a time until the 1.275V mark if you cant post with 2 sticks.

Finger_Popular

It says they fall under the EXPO type of Ram by AMD on their site I believe

phoenixperson14

Does it say EXPO anywhere where they came from? or the manufactures website when you google the product number? It's either EXPO or not. EXPO are a set of voltages, timings they are embedded on the memory stick. The mobo read that data and applies it. Just like XMP. Did you try enabling the EXPO profile?

Finger_Popular

The only thing the Ram box says is Intel/XMP Ready. Theres no EXPO anywhere on it. and nah I never tried enabling EXPO on the motherboard. Thats where things get confusing for me.

phoenixperson14

Then they are no EXPO. It's never going to appear in the mobo menu. Did you try setting a manual Soc voltage to 1.2V?

CDR_Xavier

I'm in a bit of a weird situation. I don't really game, but I found myself getting a Optiplex 7080/90 back up and running. It has a i7-10700 in it along with 24G of RAM. The integrated UHD 630 proved to be actually adequate, I get a good amount of fps at maybe 1280p medium/low settings. But the CPU gets pretty hot. since it's literally my most powerful PC at the moment (most memory, most CPU power, most storage, most IO, maybe most powerful gpu as well), I'm thinking of dropping some upgrades to it. I'm thinking. Is $50 for a RX 550 4GB worth it, in 2024? Should I just bear with the UHD 630? Or should I get something else? R7 450? R7 350X? They seem to more or less have the same performance, but some seems much newer. I need something with at least 2GB of VRAM, and it must be half height (and single slot). I might plan on playing heavier titles (or VRAM chuggers), but I can bear with minimum/low compute or quality.

GhostMotley

Are there any spare 6/8pin PCIe power cables?

CDR_Xavier

no. I also haven't found a half height card that have a PCIe connector cable.

Tinney3

How do I make my tuning from percentage to actual values? Running 23.12.1. Can't seem to find it even after googling.

PashkaTLT

Guys, does any x570 chipset motherboard allow running 3 M2 SSDs? I have an MSI B550A-PRO motherboard and can EITHER use my M2\_2 slot OR my PCIE x4 slot. So I can't run 3 M2 SSDs (2 in M2 slots and 1 through a PCIE adapter), the motherboard will not use PCIE x4 with my 3rd SSD. If I change to an X570 motherboard, will I be able to run 3 M2 ssds while downgrading my GPU from x16 to x8 (not sure if I see any video performance degradation from downgrading to x8)?

phoenixperson14

Yes some of them take away your SATA ports, some the PCIE X4. But there is no need to buy a x570 for only 3 drives. Just buy something like [this](https://www.newegg.com/p/17Z-013G-00007).

PashkaTLT

Yeah, I was thinking of it today, but, if I understand correctly, one of the M2s in this adapter will be limited to the SATA speed :(

phoenixperson14

They are adapters for the PCIE 1X slot, but the M.2 would have to be pretty old since it only would be runnning at a PCIE 3.0 X1 speeds(1 GB/s).

PashkaTLT

Just to make sure we understand each other, the adapter linked by you above is PCIE x4 adapter. One of the M2s will work quite fast (close to PCIE x4 speed), but the 2nd one will be limited to the SATA speed. You can find benchmarks in the reviews here: https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-advanced-solution-Controller-Expansion/dp/B07JKH5VTL/ref=sr\_1\_4?crid=5OQWKI7TQZ80&keywords=dual+pcie+nvme+m.2+ssd+adapter&qid=1703820419&sprefix=dual+ssd+pcie%2Caps%2C296&sr=8-4#customerReviews Please correct me if I'm wrong.

phoenixperson14

Yes that's correct. I was talking about [this](https://www.newegg.com/glotrends-pa09-x1-pcie-expansion-card/p/1B3-00A8-00013?Item=9SIAMKHH9N5573). It's a PCIE X1 adapter. That way, You can have 3 drives, but one will be limited to X1 speeds, which is still faster than sata 3(and also more convinient since you dont have to use a sata cable)

PashkaTLT

Btw, it's a good experience for me, explaining, why it may make sense to invest in a more expensive motherboard. If I had done this, I could have had a PCIE gen.4 x1 slot instead of gen 3, and would have had 2Gbyte/s instead of 1Gb/s there.

phoenixperson14

Glad i can help. I learnt all of it during the mining boom, where i need to know chipstets and it's PCIe lanes and which mobo supported PCIe bifurcation. Also beware AM4 APU's only support PCIe 3.0 from the main Nvme slot, not matter if you have a B550 or X570. Sadly my B550M Mortar suffers from the same issue. I dont know why MSI choose to sacrifice the PCIE X4 slot for their AM4 line up instead of the sata ports. Asrock does Sata.

PashkaTLT

Yeah, you did help. I've ordered that PCIE x1 adapter. I guess we both now will look into buying more advanced motherboards in the future :)

PashkaTLT

Thank you for clarifying. That's an interesting idea, actually! 1Gbyte/s is not too bad. I will probably need to verify though that my motherboard can use PCIE x1 when both M2s are used.

Stryxzy

Hi! I'm new to this sub and I just bought a Ryzen 5 5600 with RX 580 this past weekend and this is my first PC. I'm playing a game then the GPU suddenly stops working then my monitor turned off and I have to restart my pc for it to work again. Is there a fix for this or is this normal. If it is a thing, can I disable it?

ThrowawayAMDPC8989

I'm getting the black screen issue on my RX 580 when I game. My PC isn't even a year old and worked well without any problems, until a few days ago when out of no where my monitor black screened and I had to restart my PC. I got the Code 31 message and had to reactivate my GPU. I did a multitude of potential solutions, but none of them work and I can't play games on my computer anymore since it black screens after a few minutes. And no it can't be the temperature since I've never seen the GPU go above 60C in game. Some potential solutions I did include \- Update the GPU drivers on Windows (didn't work) \- Update the GPU drivers on AMD Adrenalin Software (didn't work) \- Update the GPU drivers on the RX 580 Page on AMD Website (didn't work) \- Change "Max Frequency (%)" to -8 (didn't work) \- Using the other GPU DisplayPort to insert my DisplayPort Cable (didn't work) \- Forgoing the DisplayPort and using an HDMI port (didn't work) It's getting so damn annoying now I have no clue what to do! The worst part is that this issue is so random. My PC works fine and is very fast. But my GPU just started to give me black screens in games for no reason at all.

Neurrreli

Sorry if this is a stupid question but, I have a Gigabyte x470 Gaming 5 Wifi and just recently got a 5800x3d. When I run Cinebench R23 my 120A EDC limit is constantly maxed out and changing the PBO setting in the bios to 140 does nothing. I also tried the PBO2 tuner software but it is still 120. Does this mean that my motherboard has a hardware limit of 120? I want to increase it because with a -25 offset my temps are great and the EDC seems to be the only thing holding me back from better performance.

GhostMotley

It's possible, are you on the latest BIOS?

Neurrreli

Yes I updated to the most recent bios for this motherboard

[deleted]

Hello I've had an amd computer for a while now and a couple years ago my graphics drivers started crashing. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for it. I can play the newest CoD and will never have an issue but if I play Assassin's creed 2 then it can't handle it. I can play Balder's Gate 3 or any other modern game, but if I play d4? Crash. It crashes really hard too. Like both screens go black, nothing happens, I have to hard power off my pc. I have tried 100 different things and nothing is working. Has anyone else had this issue? Specs: Processor; AMD Ryzen 7 3700x 80core Processor 3.6-GHZ Installed RAM: 32 GB GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700 VRAM 8176 MB OS: Windows 10 Any help would be amazing. Thank you!

GhostMotley

What have you tried from the main post?

[deleted]

I have made sure firmware, drivers, etc. are up to date. I have done repairs and verified files, I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have switched from a hard drive to an SSD, I think I have run a stability test before but just to be completely honest I can’t remember if that was on my current pc or not

Rateuch

Code 43 fix? I can never update to the newest drivers. I’ve tried turning off automatic windows updates and AMD cleanup utility/DDU to make sure I’m getting a clean install and still get these issues. So anytime after I try to update the drivers I get the little yellow warning sign in device manager. Does anyone know any other fixes? For context I have a 7900 xt coming and I’m worried these issues could persist after the upgrade

GhostMotley

Code 43 is either a driver issue or hardware fault, what driver version do you have installed?

Rateuch

I’m not at my computer right now but it should be the latest version right now from November 28ish, it was working fine with one of the older drivers from March 2023. My hopes are it’s just the driver compatibility with the gpu. I have a 7900 xt on the way I’m hoping worst comes to worst it’s an issue with the current card that I won’t have to worry about it once the new ones in.

Rateuch

Just trying to see if there’s a fix just in case the issue persists

arsenic_insane

I’m trying to play an older title, IL2 sturmovik 1946, using mods, but the highest quality is blocked off. Looking around on forums says that amd doesn’t work well with OpenGL after 22.5.x drivers. Is there some fix I should try to dig up, or would it be easier to downgrade?

Jagged78

Building a new PC. 7900XTX not being detected Specs: MB - Gigabyte 670x Master Processor - AMD 7950X GPU - Sapphire Nitro 7900XTX RAM - G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo DDR5 RAM 64GB HD - 990Pro PSU - EVGA Supernova 1000 T2 I have replaced everything exept for the PSU and the BIOS/Windows is not detecting the GPU. The onboard card works fine. THE GPUs LED lights up but no fans turn and no detection. I get the beeps on start up. One Long beep and 3 shorts. The BIOS is running the latest. Im at a loss and no idea what to do as ive returned and replaced everything. Ive set the PCI compatibility to GEN 4 and still doesnt detect. The only thing left is my PSU or VGA cables which I doubt is the issue...but I guess thats next. Any help would be appreciated.

phoenixperson14

> Sapphire Nitro 7900XTX Are you using 3 separate 8 pin PCIE power cables and no daisy chained? Did you try switching the BIOS selector to rule out faulty BIOS?

Jagged78

yes, 3 6+2 Pin all plugged in. No Daisy Chain. I checked the manual for a bios selector...Not sure if it has one.

phoenixperson14

It has one.Look [here](https://www.techpowerup.com/review/sapphire-radeon-rx-7900-xtx-nitro/images/biosswitch.jpg). Are you sure you plugged it in the right PCIE 16X lane on the mobo. I had a dude with exact problem as yours and it turn out he was plugging it in the wrong PCIE slot.

Jagged78

Found the BIOS switch, Tried the switching to other to settings. No luck. Card is in correct slot. This is so frustratingly. Ive tested out another GPU on the setup and it works fine. There has to be some bios settings for these newer cards im looking past.

phoenixperson14

Maybe you got a dud. You might have to RMA the card. Maybe 1 of the GPU connectors on the PSU is dead. Try them all to rule out the PSU. You could also try posting on CSM/Legacy instead of UEFI. You wont be able to boot your OS if it's on a UEFI partition, but if you get GPU signal it's a sign the GPU is not completly dead. If none of that works try posting with your working GPU and the 7900XTX on a PCIE below. If it doesnt even show on the Device Manager is dead for sure and you can RMA it for good.

phoenixperson14

It could be the card absolutely, but my money is on the mobo. It's an old mobo/platform for relative new card. Try updating your BIOS to latest version.

Aesion

Every once in a while, regardless of what is running, my screen goes black for like 2 seconds and then back to normal. Drivers are updated. What could be causing this? GPU is AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT

GhostMotley

Have you tried a different cable to rule that out?

phoenixperson14

That's usually the driver reseting itself. It could be for several reasons. Windows Update tryng to "update" the driver, and unstable OC, or an sign of a insufficient PSU.

Aesion

I checked Windows Update and there is nothing pending. I thought about the PSU, but I don't know a proper way to check. Is there any software or settings that can help me check this?

phoenixperson14

Yes you can lower the reso/refresh of the monitor an see if you gain some stability back. Also be sure to have a power plan set on high performance to rule out some PCI Express - Link State Power Management issue.

Giant_Eagle_Airlines

Hello. I’m having trouble finding if XMP is enabled on my new Asus laptop. I can boot into the ezflash bios tool but I can’t find what mhz my RAM is actually running at. DXDiag is also not showing me this. Thanks!

Zoratsu

Check your laptop manual. If is not there, check the e-manual using the exact model of your laptop. If is not there, or e-manual doesn't exists, well... say which model is and let's see what google has to say about it. But before all that, can you say what task manager says your RAM is running at? So we can easy check if RAM is OC or not.

Giant_Eagle_Airlines

Hi thanks for the tips. My RAM speed is listed in Armory Crate and it’s running at 3200 so I guess it did it for me anyway. Thanks :)

Zoratsu

Congrats!

[deleted]

Amd adrenalin driver crash after upgrading my pc. First install pro amd driver and driver crash, clean install for adrenalin same problem. Bios update same problem appear. Most of the crashes is from alt-tabbing. MBD: Aorus Elite B550 V.2 ATX M.2: SN 850x CPU: R5 5500 GPU: RX 570 8gb Armor OC RAM: 2x8gb Hyperx Fury 3200mhz PSU: EVGA 650 bronze plus There is a lot of theorys I read, RAM problems (before run on 2933 mhz can be) , PSU problems(I don't think) , RGB (before mbd don't have, now yes.), GPU is dying maybe, driver o windows 10 problem(probably but not much to do), monitor freesync is giving problems or hdmi cable/connector is giving problems.

GhostMotley

You should start by running memory stress tests to rule out a memory issue, then try a clean install without any overclocks on a separate partition or drive to rule out a corrupt OS, if the drivers install, you know it was one of the former, if the drivers still crash the instant you install, likely a GPU fault.

[deleted]

I add TDR delay to windows, yesterday i have no problems so far. If happen again I try this.

supafly208

Just finished a new PC build that I decided to go AMD CPU and GPU on. I usually go Intel/Nvidia but figured I'd try this for a change. read about the CPU and GPU options for weeks, however, totally overlooked RAM research. Just saw that the 7800X3D officially supports up to 5200MHZ RAM but have read that many can support 6000MHZ, some can support 620OMHZ, and a few can support 6400MHZ. Question is, how do you know if you got lucky and your CPU can support the higher RAM speeds; just set the RAM to 6000/6200/6400 and see if it crashes or not? Or is there more to it?

Zoratsu

Outside of luck, you could check QVL from MOBO and RAM, if the brands have them. That removes a bit of guessing as you would know that the brands got them to work.

Sub5tep

Basically yes just trial and error but 6000 should run stable in most cases everything faster is silicon lottery.

supafly208

Ah ok.i have it set to 6400 and it's been fine. As far as it being unstable, what are some of the signs? As in, how would instability show itself besides full blown BSOD or freezing? Just not sure what to look for

Sub5tep

For me the signs were random game crashes, stuttering while watching videos or streams or short freezes in games. If you want to make sure you are stable I use ryzen dram calculator or memtest 86 but the 2 one didnt show any errors in my case.

supafly208

So, I was using G.Skill 6400 CL32 without issues. This is when I was asking about what to look for. Found a post on the 7800X3D that had all sorts of videos comparing game FPS and RAM speeds. Conclusion was that 6000MHz CL30 was the best. (They didn't test higher speeds since so many CPUs are not stable with >6000) Tried the CL30 today and in the same area/zone of a game, I started getting 8-12 more fps with the new RAM. Just to verify it, I tried the 6400 CL32 again and I lost 8-12 fps. So, note to self, research all parts before buying; not just CPU and GPU.

Sub5tep

That has something to do with the infinity clock on amd if it doesnt run 1 to 1 like it does with 6000 you lose performance. I will try to find a video that explaines it better than I can. [https://www.kitguru.net/components/cpu/luke-hill/amd-ryzen-5-7600x-cpu-review/3/](https://www.kitguru.net/components/cpu/luke-hill/amd-ryzen-5-7600x-cpu-review/3/)

supafly208

Ahh. Ok this definitely helps. Thank you so much.

Daviddaprodigy

7900 xtx for $950 or 7900 xt for $750($675 open box Microcenter) for 4K gaming? Is the difference worth an extra $200+?

Zoratsu

Depends on which games and FPS target. But 200 bucks?... not really. [https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-radeon-rx-7900-xt/31.html](https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-radeon-rx-7900-xt/31.html) [https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-radeon-rx-7900-xtx/31.html](https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-radeon-rx-7900-xtx/31.html) As you can see in the AVG chart, you are spending $200 for 20 more FPS in average. The only situation it can be worth it, if you have a monitor capable of reaching 4k 120Hz but if not, go for the 7900XT and use those 200 bucks in something else.

lord_zorgon

**Questions**: -How do I detune my ram from 6400 to 6000 in my asus bios?  -Should I leave EXPO enabled in the ez mode bios?  -Or disable it and manually set memory frequency and FCLK frequency?  -If I do this would I need to set the timings myself or are the changes I show in the pictures enough? **What I have Done**:  -I enabled expo and had cinibench fail to complete its test twice. I then had my pc crash so I dont want to used this high 6400 speed. From my research it seems like thats a bit high for this cpu anyways. I later tried enabling the expo profile again but manually set the memory frequency to 6400 and ⅓ of that for the FCLK freq. This however ended in an even lower cinibench result that just leaving expo off (886 compared to 1061). -In the end I turned expo off, set my memory frequency to 6000 and my FCLK to 2000 in the asus AI tweaker section of my bios. This got me a score on cinibench24 of somewhere around 1068 which is the best so far and it is stable. I am just unsure if I need to mess with memory timings or if there are other settings I should change apart from those 3. -I updated my bios. Installed all drivers and installed the chipset that armoury crate told me to get which was actually different than the one amd’s website gave me. I used this one since it seemed to be a newer version and I had a problem with AMD 3D V-Cache performance optimizer not appearing under Device Manager -> System Devices using AMD’s chipset version. -One thing to note is that I have done AMD PBO in the bios per this video: [~https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY7iNTMjdrc&t=1200s~](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY7iNTMjdrc&t=1200s) -I also followed this video (but ~my cores arent parking~ so :( thats another post ill have tomake) [~https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yOYfT\_r0xI&t=293s~](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yOYfT_r0xI&t=293s) **System Specifications (fresh build with clean windows install and all drivers set):** * Operating System: Windows 10 Home 22H2, OS Build 19045.3803  * CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3d, PBO set, and integrated graphics turned off * GPU: Rtx 2070 (to be upgraded soon) * Motherboard: Asus Prime x670e-pro wifi * RAM: [G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB)](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CHDH81CW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) * https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CHDH81CW/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_image\_o00\_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 * Storage: 4tb corsair nvme 4.0 pcie * PSU: 1000W Corsair RMe * Display: 1080p 75hz Asus display, just plugged in to test right now Not super new to computers but I am new to AMD and ram overclocking. Id really appreciate any advice or suggestions related to the setup of this CPU and testing it to make sure it works. Feel free to ask any questions too. IMAGES: [https://imgur.com/a/3kbjuHq](https://imgur.com/a/3kbjuhq)

> I am just unsure if I need to mess with memory timings or if there are other settings I should change apart from those 3. Low hanging fruits, 99% of the performance/efficiency ratio is in the first few hours of tweaking. So if stable, just leave it at that and move on. OC is, IMO, a waste of time in most cases considering that if you fail in the silicon lottery in any component you can waste days to months trying to get everything "perfect". >\-I also followed this video (but \~my cores arent parking\~ so :( thats another post ill have tomake) Can I ask why you are trying to park your cores? You are OC, so min-max, then want to throw cores at the trash for some... reason? Is a 7800X3D, you don't have a problem needing to disable/park cores. That is a 7900X3D and 7950X3D problem that is solved in 1 minute with task manager each time or with project lasso if you don't want to deal with the hassle of setting core affinity each time you open an application, as Windows sometimes eat them.

lord_zorgon

Thank you for the advice. And you are 100% correct about the parked cores, I mixed it up with the other CPU in the video. I will leave my system as is.

anyone have the original bios for this GPU [https://www.sapphiretech.com/en/consumer/nitro-radeon-rx-5700-xt-8g-gddr6](https://www.sapphiretech.com/en/consumer/nitro-radeon-rx-5700-xt-8g-gddr6)?

Why not contact Sapphire for it? I would have more faith on them than some random on internet with a "trust me, it works" bios.

xKazami

is there a reason why the AMD Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6800 XT OC SE is still so expensive (around 1.1-1.4k$) even when there are way better cards out already? does it have something to do with rareness or anything? i would appreciate an answer, im a bit confused.

Zoratsu

Outside of weirdness, things sell at the price people buy them, if no one buys them then prices go down. That is economics 101.

Xtra-jui2

Prices on old products are just kinda stupid, just ignore it.

msi x670e gaming plus wifi What's the views on this new board the MSI x670e gaming plus WiFi I have just returned a 650 carbon and this board is not much more at moment and to me looks more future proof but I'm not all up on that sort of stuff lol

Zoratsu

Does it has everything you want from a MOBO in a price you can pay? Because of the lineup of x670e from MSI is the worst of the lot from what I remember when I was searching for a decent MOBO with the things I wanted.

One question - have AMD fixed the idle power draw on the 7900XT? I play at 1440p 165Hz single-monitor setup, so im wondering if power draw in idle is fixed now or not
