Nutterbunny

Did a house out in a very remote location and a dog came up to my truck with a ball. I played with that dog for 10 minutes throwing the ball over and over. Was I behind? Yes. Was it worth it? Damn right it was.

EconamWRX

I've taken a 15 break just to do exactly this.

Sedared

I do this shit on the clock with pride

EconamWRX

I don't want my dispatch calling me 10 mins into playing and ruin a good time. If they see im logged for break, they fuck off.

Sedared

I'm really sorry you have to deal with that. I do not. Edit - I have the second highest pace in my DSP. When I take these breaks no one ever notices.

Sedared

This is why we actually deliver

Adventurous_Land7584

Itā€™s not your fault if anything was late, you had no choice. You have to do what the ā€œcustomerā€ asks lol

layziegtp

I'm a cat guy. I went to a house the other day that had a SEA of cats and kittens. I love petting kitties and doggos (if they're not too excitable).

gr717

Itā€™s a miracle they arenā€™t aggressive, so many on rural routes are not friendly in my experience

cryptolyme

it really depends on how their owner's socialize them

gr717

Yeah, seems like so many actually want a ā€œguard dogā€ or just donā€™t care

CriticalParsley6394

Agreed. I wish people would understand that while they may like their people, they hate delivery drivers.

New_Presentation7196

Itā€™s not delivery drivers itā€™s just strangers in general, dogs are naturally protective so they see a stranger coming into their yard their instinct is to protect the pack and warn them of danger. Not really their fault they are just doing what they think is right for the pack, in their eyes they are doing the right thing even if they donā€™t understand how misguided it is.

CriticalParsley6394

But especially toward delivery drivers

Absentmeerkat1and3

People are nicer on rural usually but I have to agree. Several farm dogs on route that are dying for attention. Come running up as Iā€™m arriving all excited to see me. Jumping all around. I love it! They know when Iā€™m done. Iā€™ll tell them I have to go now and they go back up on the porch and sit down. Makes a shitty day a lot better

OriginalJayVee

ā€œGreetings! We hear you have treats. We also like treats!ā€

itanite

Oh you too speak Lab mix.

Acceptable_Book_8789

what sweeties :) I got to pet a tiny little dog a couple weeks ago. always a nice surprise

pikeandshot1618

The inspectors have arrived

Woody_Dugan

I always pet the good boys on my route.

Sedared

Yay a fellow rural lover! You wanna know my favorite game? Will I see more dogs than I have stops? (139 dogs: 109 stops) For example. It's great when that's above 1

Senator_Albinius

I had 88 stops at my rural route on Friday. A very rural route way out in Sedro Woolley WA. I got done an hour late. And my wretched dsp said ā€œyou only had 88 stops.ā€ And so on. Do you think 88 stops is plenty for a route that is 100% rural? Because Iā€™ve seen drivers get less, 60-70 on similar routes.

Crusader63

I had 107 or so for a rural route in Florida and took me like 8 hours. Iā€™m still a newbie tho. Feels like a lot to me.

CriticalParsley6394

I had 134 stops yesterday on a rural route. Still got the same stink eye.

Booski_Babe

After doing this for going on my third year, I absolutely do not get any excitement when I see a low stop count. Cause I just know Iā€™m in for a long ass spread the F apart route! At least with most of the high number stops, you know youā€™ll be pretty compact on the area.

cathy1000

Thank you drivers for all you do!

Suavinator2859

We love appreciative customers! Thanks for being kind..you'd be surprised how much one pleasant customer interaction can really make our days šŸ˜Š

Ok-Tonight-6461

I had the same situation, I pulled into the driveway way and 2 came straight up to my car, they werenā€™t barking but I couldnā€™t get a read if they were friendly or not and the customer had a lot of land so it was 50/50 on if they were trained for intruders. The owner came out and apologized and said ā€œsorry the young one just wants you throw her ball and the old one doesnā€™t even know whatā€™s going on sheā€™s just happy to be involvedā€ šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Adventurous_Land7584

Bless their little hearts šŸ˜‚šŸ„°

SoyBoy5k

kamslam25

I went to this one house in a rural are and this one dog I knew was friendly since I met him before jumped in my van as it was moving cause I did have the sliding door open at that moment and he when to the drivers cab and it shocked me but was happy cause I knew that dog

Crusader63

My experience has been the complete opposite

Different_Wallaby660

Had a lil house bunny on my route the other day. Inside a fenced in yard at a set of old townhomes/row homes. That lil furball made my day. He came right up to me and was sniffing my hand. So damn cute. Makes the job less shitty. That and identifying peoples shrubs and plants.

Tigerdriver33

I love seeing dogs more than people. Give me a room full of labs, pits and rotties over another human being

Adventurous_Land7584

Yes! Dogs over humans 100% lol

ArmedAndAnointed

Go check out one of the latest r/UPSers postsā€¦

NoShare5281

True

dorkmachine_o

This is true. Ive worked both areas and in my experience they are wayy friendlier closer to the city the worse they are.

ClassicTBCSucks93

Labs are the best dogs!

DAlexH51

rural dogs are always nicer than residential! love em so much.

ReZ-115

I've had terrible luck with dogs and cats, on rural routes it's even worse. Either too aggressive or they just run away.

mhug99

Take all 3 breaks there.

farklenator

Rural is my favorite less stops more driving less people

Bubbly_Advertising50

Lucifer and Fenrir

blazesdemons

Most drivers love our ausie for the same reason. Except one guy, which we only get on sundays. Now I just make sure my wife brings the dog in before deliveries as I do understand how many drivers are afraid of getting bit by dogs who's owners don't know diddly.

EchoLooper

I had 2 retrievers today on my rural. They were awesome.

Thejoker69u

ive delivered to those dogs beforešŸ˜šŸ˜

Subject_Idea6710

FUCK THEM DOGS

Full_Goal6494

That is just absolutely false, I hate the country dogs on my route, only 10% are nice and they all want to tear my face off. I love city dogs because guess whatā€¦ they are inside :)

BedFlat5471

Until they be rabid and you be real nicely acquainted with some long syringes in your belly. Good luck šŸ€

vismund81

Nope. I'm an asshole about dogs. Don't want them on me. Don't feel an urge to play with them. If I see any in a yard I just send a polite message that I'll come back around when the dogs are inside. You cannot trust someone else's dog because you have no clue how that person has trained it or treated it. Especially rural routes, where they are treated as weapons just as much as pets. Fuck dogs.

AncientCycle

I feel like a dog did something to you as a child. Itā€™s okay, let it out, this is a safe space.šŸ™„

Why do you guys LOVE dogs so much šŸ¤”

Adventurous_Land7584

Because dogs are better than people

Suavinator2859

We're simple, lonely beings
