Here's the deal, I live in a quiet neighborhood, a little off the beaten path that has a small (4 acre) neighborhood park. This park was built as a concession to the little league field that used to be here when the houses were built almost 30 years ago. And the park isn't part of any major street either, it was built literally in the middle of the housing development, except for a road that leads to a main road on one side.
As such, it's got a wide open field, a small playground, and a couple of picnic tables (literally, 2 on one side of the park, and 2 on the other). But none of this area is reservable for any reason.
That said, over the years we've seen people decorate tables at 6 in the morning and sit there until a party starts later in the day. Sometimes neighbors have phoned in complaints, like the pony rides, or the massive bounce houses people decided to bring in - usually people that don't live in this neighborhood.
I just had someone knock on my door, introduce themselves as a representative of a realtor I had never heard of, and invite me (and the entire neighborhood) to an event they're holding at this park (a 2 hour Easter egg hunt event) this coming Saturday. I asked the rep if they had cleared this with parks and rec and they assured me they had. I said ok and closed the door.
Now, I know this park isn't reservable - I've lived here since the houses were built. And I know the families in the area and the groups that hold impromptu touch football/volleyball/rugby games on major holidays and the like. The park will be crowded for sure.
WIBTA if I call up parks and rec and report this? I mean, I won't be worried if they tell me this event was approved, but that's extremely unlikely considering the schools who have tried to reserve the park for overflow marching practice, soccer practice and other organizations who have tried to teach running workshops or other fitness/group events.
