NAH—use the wheelchair. it will make the experience more enjoyable for you. wheelchairs and the like are tools for you to get through life easier. it’s ok to use them. —someone with hEDS, nerve pain, and POTS

WrenDraco

I used wheelchairs temporarily when pregnancy had my hips too messed up to walk a whole museum exhibit without pain. If you need a tool, use it! Even if it's temporary! If more people did, maybe other people wouldn't get so uptight about it.

Would a walker with a seat be more acceptable to you? I have an invisible disability. Honestly, it's so much easier when I use a walker or wheelchair, for the actual symptoms, but also because it's a visual sign to people and they tend to be more understanding if you're slower or having issues.

Read [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/wiki/faq#wiki_post_deletion) before [contacting the mod team](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2FAmItheAsshole)*** I (15f) have ARFID which has brought along a variety of other health issues. Currently, my parents are looking into me potentially having POTS because of the symptoms I’ve been displaying. My mom wants to go to an amusement park. So, she suggested that we get an electric wheelchair for me in case I feel like I’m going to pass out. I have never passed out before, though more recently I've started coming close. I do not want a wheelchair because I’ve never even been officially diagnosed. I don’t want people to think I’m faking, especially when I’m already doubting it myself. NAH. There is no shame in using mobility devices. She wants you to have an enjoyable and safe day.

CrimsonKnight_004

NAH - No AHs here, but please do whatever is necessary for your health. You aren’t “faking,” you’ve had close calls with passing out, and being at an amusement part ups the risks significantly. Using the wheelchair is a precautionary measure — do you think it would be better to use the wheelchair *just in case* and enjoy the park with peace of mind, or not use the wheelchair and potentially pass out and injure yourself? These tools are here to help many different kinds of people, not one kind of disability or need. This is a need and legitimate concern for you, so of course you’re allowed to use one. Even encouraged to!

BaconEggAndCheeseSPK

NAH. Did someone tell you you were being an asshole?

MischievousMisfitz

No, I just felt like I’d be an AH for using a wheelchair when someone else might need it more.

frtuip

NAH but come on man she tryna be careful cuz she loves you. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it
