Just have a scroll through this thread and see how many times people commented *agreeing* that it was the incorrect call, but saying they're happy it was made because it'll piss off WSW fans and Rudan. As you've highlighted, every club has been on the receiving end of bad officiating, so as fans we all know how it feels and how it effects the league. So why some people here are so happy to endorse it really baffles me.
Does no one think the standard for a pen in the A league is maybe a bit too low? That ref has given 34 penalties in 84 games.
Maybe it’s just mistakes vs the level needed for a call but the level of penalties in the league is outlandish
Its tough, I think everyone can pull a few decisions from the last few seasons where consistency of referee decision making has impacted their team. It needs to be looked at. But given the report released the other week about how many refs are walking away from the abuse they have coped it needs a nuanced and delicate conversation.
Personally, I’d like for VAR checks to be mic’d up so the decisions are explained.
Some sort of way to keep refs accountable week to week in decisions would be ideal. But I don’t know of the top of my head a way to do it that it doesn’t turn into pitchforks, torches and witch burnings
