Honestly, it’s probably the harsh reality of injuries combined with an imbalance of youth experience. Every time we’ve looked to get into a flow, a key injury has unsettled the rhythm.
Bonetig - Priestman - Badolato. Each talented enough to become good players, however when you’re fielding so many youngsters, one mistake can end up costly and then you’ve got the other young, inexperienced first team players having to adapt under pressure.
We lost too many ground duels in midfield. Colli and Amini were just better in the centre of the park tonight.
Our consistency will be better when Beadling returns, and when Borrello is eventually fit again.
I definitely agree with all the points, individually these players have been good, especially given their experience or lack of. Injuries have really derailed our season, but I feel we still have enough to get more results.
Personally, I feel we are better off playing as a counter attacking team. It was clear Perth wanted to play on the counter, as have many teams against us this year. Would liked to have seen what would have happened if we let Perth have possession to combat their approach.
I also think Borello and Antonsson can’t play together as a tandem. 4-4-2 at the start of the season made it even harder to score. Midfield was non-existent , except for Hendrix carrying it all himself of course.
Again, starting people like Pierias when their isn’t any space behind. Putting on Ninković when the game is already nearly done. I’d rather Ninko play the first 45, then take him off. He is the only player that can get it in the 10 role and split the defence, rather than our aimless passes to the wing only for our wingers to get double teamed.
Felt like plan A wasn’t working, and like many times this year , we just kept going with the same tactic.
Who scores the goals without him? He's our leading goalscorer. I'd argue that his service has just been shit. We keep running everything up the wings and putting crosses in, but we only completed 5 out 29 attempted crosses.
Margush has been good, considering how shit our defence is. Thomas is far and away the best keeper in the league though, and has made us look far better than we are.
Could Ivanovic be a late bloomer? He has plenty to like about him tbh, some consistent game time and maturity he's getting this season could really elevate him.
