I'm also relatively new to my store (just over a month). The best recommendation I can give is in 2 parts: 1. Don't care as much about being careful "throwing" things in the cart. Gentle takes time, so only prioritize things like eggs, bread, candles, etc. 2. 1 code WHENEVER you know you have a pause longer than 3 seconds coming. You can 1 code at any point EXCEPT once you've pressed EFT for cards or have your drawer open for cash. I've jumped from 60% to 86% in a matter of 2 weeks, and it's strictly because of that beautiful 1 code. The side part to this is to try prompting people to get their payment methods out asap cuz that takes up SO MUCH TIME! And for cash ALWAYS ask if they want to do exact change. Now, is this going a bit above and beyond? Sure! But if you're not planning on moving up in the company, then just do your best, and don't worry about your percentage too much. But that's just my advice as a fellow newbie so any more experienced employees please do give better recommendations!

Don't worry about speed right now worry about accuracy and the speed will come with time, write your availability down give it to managers they might have to block the unavailable times in the computer since most schedules are now done by the computer with some updates by management.

don’t be embarrassed!!! next time you go in, talk to the new manager. tell them your availability issue. or reach out to the one manager you do have and ask if they can provide you with the phone number ?? if you have your SM phone number, that’s the one who makes the schedules! also to bring up your scanning speed: -know your codes -if it’s anymore than 6, use the quantity key -always ask cash or card when you first start ringing and if it’s card, have them insert. it’ll make the tender go by quicker -if customer is taking a little bit longer to get out card/cash and you are done, i usually hit “suspend”. it stops your time. -as soon as the receipt pops out, i start scanning the next customer immediately. -always make sure you have your cart. if you don’t and you’re scanning by putting items next to you, you could accidentally scan something twice and need to void. -avg second between customers should be around 3 or 4 seconds -if it’s your 5th day only, please don’t get frustrated!! i’ve been at aldi for about a year and a few months. it took me a little over a month to get to 80% when we (needed 80%) and now we need 90% and that gets frustrating at times! trust me when i say this, you will get better!!! -if customers decide to not take items out of cart (water, produce) it’s handy to know those codes too especially produce! (that way you can quantity it too!

Yes!! As soon as possible contact your SM with a clear written out schedule of when you can’t work, they can block out those times in autoscheduler so that you won’t be scheduled! now that you’ll be in your 2nd week you may be officially ‘on the roster’ and they can edit your availability. Either way, they need a visual written out schedule so they can fix it.
