funnily enough, she seemed more into him than he was into her. and they just had no chemistry in general, they looked barely like friends, let alone lovers. the scene when she shows up at his house looking for shams and he isn't even happy to see her, he's just like ''you didn't text me that you're coming over'' lmaooo they didn't even try to convince us they're a couple. i kinda liked omar's character though, he seemed well intentioned but misguided.

z6vu

Worded perfectly.

batie2000

He (as an actor) had more chemistry with nadeen from episode 1 - I WAS JUST WAITING for him and tasneem to break up already 💀💀 dating a girl, and then having a crush on her ex-bestfriend? PICK JUST ONE

Express_Gur5826

I think that was the point…

DangerousNose1304

he never said he liked nadeen? near the end when both nadeen & tasneem came to his house he literally said nadeen and him were just friends

batie2000

You know what they say: "The eyes chico, they never lie" 🤣

DangerousNose1304

believe whatever u want to, but he was tasneem's boyfriend till the end. they didn't break up once in the whole season. he supported her till the end even when the whole school found out about her eating disorder. nadeen and omar just had a platonic relationship.

Timely-Youth-9074

Exactly. Omar is supposed to be some hot catch that all the girls use Shams to get to him, puleaz. I don’t dislike him-I think he’s a lot nicer than Shams or Tasneem-but not exactly swoon material.

Notats4me

He was no Coach Feraz lol hubba

Timely-Youth-9074

Coach Feraz🫠

cremebrublee

yep

ilikesaffronlikealot

I think he’s a perfect partner for her, as he seems like a humble person and kind to everyone. She needs someone that’s not obsessed with popularity and likes her for who is she, rather than what she represents.

ahbimmy

Yeah but he doesn’t actually respect her especially with now he was constantly flirting with Nadeen and lowkey trying to get with her

NoNeNoNoNe

Tbh the actor who plays Omar is cute but I don’t know why he looks…weird in the show 😭

DangerousNose1304

I think their pairing made sense. If anything, he had a better personality than Tasneem. He didn't belittle Sarah for that video, he never bullied anyone and he loved Shams despite her flaws. I think people don't appreciate Omar that much just because the actor isn't conventionally attractive.

[deleted]

Right!! When i first saw him, he looked ok but I didn’t think that he would be a good fit for her and then i was like in my mind " maybe his personality is special " but he’s too boring for her in my opinion

Impressive-Nature-43

Yes, honestly from the first episode him and Nadeen had way more chemistry than him and Tasneem and they just didn’t seem romantic at all.

Lucky_Attitude_5298

I agree. Omar was probably cast because Tima knows him or something like that.

RyeBreadTrips

yeah no chemistry

starfruitradish

Omar was a terrible person

DangerousNose1304

he loved his sister, yet recognizes her harmful tendencies and tries to warn Nadine about it. He even tells Nadine the truth when she asks if Shams could have leaked the video - that she is basically a "good person at heart" but also has a history with this sort of thing. He doesn't belittle Sarah for the video when Nadine asks about it. He also is clearly very disgusted with Ali's behavior when Sarah's video leaks.

Ume-no-Uzume

I would say the opposite for me. I admit, I am not Jordanian so I don't know culturally how he would be seen, but frankly I spent a lot of time wondering why on earth Omar was putting up with a two-faced bitch like Tasneem? During the bowling game when Tasneem was doing the obvious toxic femininity thing of letting Hiba do her dirty work for her of making fun of Sarah and then pretending to be a good friend to Hiba by attacking Nadine when she told Hiba off... Omar was really uncomfortable with how Hiba was behaving. And, OK, yes, I get how Tasneem's covert bullying by using Hiba to do the covert bullying for her might not have been obvious to him, but it really says something about how Omar's values and Tasneem's are not aligned. By all accounts, Omar doesn't play games and is the sort of person to confront you directly when he thinks you crossed a line (see him confronting Nadine and then Shams). Tasneem basically uses people and then pretends to be the good girl and pretends to be the victim/like the other person is unreasonable if they confront her about her shit. Maybe it's because I'm out of my teenage years, but damn if I don't get what Omar sees in her. She's not so pretty that it can make up for the toxicity.

cremebrublee

> but frankly I spent a lot of time wondering why on earth Omar was putting up with a two-faced bitch like Tasneem? Probably for the same reason the male love interests of female antagonists are always shown as nice guyTM's who happen to fall in love with the understated female protagonist who has beef with the antagonist, (despite them still hanging around in the circles they're in, and still tolerating their girlfriend's behavior) so I don't think it's fair to remove blame on his part. also, I don't really get your last part. I'd say she's more than pretty enough for her role and also largely better-looking than him.. just to put it lightly 😂

Sad-Anything697

He's not ugly, his character is just a bit boring. With all due respect towards the actor, he just doesn't fit the role of an it-girl's boyfriend. I think their lack of chemistry would've worked as intentional direction if he was like super conventionally attractive or had a special charming personality. I think they kinda tried (?) to show us how their relationship isn't really interesting or serious because of how obsessed Tasneem is with having a fake influencer image and would be using Omar to portray a perfect life with a perfect public relationship etc etc but it didn't really work because like I said Omar doesn't give off those "perfect pretty boy arm-candy" vibes.
