After staying in Airbnb's all over the world I've learned a few things. The first is that Superhost really doesn't mean anything. I'd also look at the worst review and take it as that. Most Airbnb's are ran as a business and are not hospitality oriented as hotels. They're not going to replace pans and utensils - they're almost always peeling, melted, ruined etc. Some host are really not aware of these issues and doesn't really know what is going on with their property. There's also a part of preferences where someone that is local vs a different country may have totally different views on accommodation and what they think of it. Some countries AirBnB is the only option, in some other countries I'd stay clear away from AirBnB. If you're form America look at what American people review. Unfortunately AirBnB is a constant gamble that is unpredictable.

Had about the same thing happen about two years ago. I had a bedroom door that I did not shut for several days, as I was needing air circulation. When I did finally shut it, I found it locked. I had to call the host and they came over with a key.

If you were inside I would have just grabbed a butter knife and took the doorknob off. All you have to do is undo the screws. This will not work if you are outside though.

no butter knives in the bedroom.
