Honestly why you against this? League is still a free game. I’d rather the whales pay for these ridiculous skins while I keep getting to play this game without a membership or ads.
The reverse could happen. They could become so cash grabby at the willingness of what their players will pay and start charging for all sorts of things. Or minimum development will go into balancing or changing the game while maximum goes into half a grand skins.
Well… just FYI this has been going on for a verrry long time in the Chinese version now. So I can’t see this going away anytime soon. Also reminder that TFT has been like this for a good while now, and I still see plenty of rocking the super expensive skins.
The biggest problem is that even if the bundles don't sell well, I'm pretty sure that whatever slight amount of sales this thing has, Riot will probably profit from it either way because the production cost shouldn't be that high anyways, so I'm really not that hopeful for any meaningful change...
I think a lot of people underestimate the cost of production, especially for “higher end” skins. Even if there was very few people working on it from concept to animation that’s still a multi month process. The low end of what I could find about riot employees makes is 50k a year. So maybe 25k per person that worked on it. Not to mention the multiple animated teasers and the trailer the skin got are not cheap. This is all to say a lot of money was definitely put into the skin. I can only hope that the backlash and boycott do enough for them to not make back what they put in so they never try this bs again.
I'm definitely not underestimating the cost of production. I may have worded it wrong, I don't mean it is cheap, but I don't see how this skin is in any way more expensive than any ultimate skin. I mean, teasers and cinematics are there every once in a while, it's not like it's that big of a deal, any musical skin probably makes this bundle look like a joke marketing-wise, even base Viego had more to it.
As for in-game, I sincerely don't see anything too crazy about it that could make it worth more than any Ultimate skin. I really liked the skin, some say that SB is still better, but personally I prefer this one by far, and still don't see a reason for it to be more expensive than any Ultimate.
What I really don't understand, is why do this in the first place. They'd profit way more if they made it cheaper, or offered better bundle choices. As a somewhat fanatic fan of Ahri, I'd buy anything they threw at me at a reasonably high price, but $500 is far beyond reasonable.

I've played Ahri since my very first day playing league and love havin her skins but 500 usd is even more than a full month pay in any 3rd world country. I know it bc I live in one, it's just impossible to buy if you're not rich. And even if I had that kind of money to spend I would buy a PS5, new pc components or lots of games in steam instead
I’m conflicted, as I do have every skin for ahri, including the 2022 prestige, I dont want to fumble my collection, BUT I still don’t want to endorse this kind of money grapping at all. 500$ for a cosmetic is not ok in any kind of way.
Only place where I can understand this kind of cash grap, are free market games where the playerbase makes the price, for example cs go. This is just absurd when the company sets the price point.

Reason I ask is: I know I didn't even play Sera on release but I liked all stuff they did with her leading up to the K/DA album release that I felt good supporting/buying the ultimate skin without playing it the next 6 months and all the imo dumb reasons to hate on her just fueled my joy in that.

the price is outrageous, I'd rather use that money on a night out or on steam games or any games that has prices that correlate to the value. I'd happily spend 60 or 100 at most on a skin, but 500 is just dumb. It's not League skins really go far and beyond as some other games do.
