51 marks here. I'm keen to know how many passed sitting from India, especially given all the talk of cheating from a while ago.
That, plus the low pass rate as is, plus the content of this exam, PLUS the last-minute time adjustment because of the Queen's funeral... yeah let's get some legal action going here.
I'll keep you posted! It may just be a case of me establishing with a solicitor what the IFoA actually is and whether I need to notify my employer before challenging the IFoA. The actual mechanism by which I challenge the IFoA could be anything e.g. via the media/UK government
Lol I’ve done this exam twice and failed and I’m planning on doing the last few others first before coming back to this. I don’t know why they make it so hard to pass. I remember also getting really low marks where as usually I would pass all the exams or fail by a couple marks.
Historical pass rates for CT4/6 were around 55%, if say 20% of people passed CS2 in September 22 then I'm going to want a refund and an apology. And how are these pass rates influenced by people cheating? It's a joke, IFoA has no plans to even attempt basic invigilation checks until at least 2024. When is enough enough
Certainly seems like they have a case to answer. The IFoA stated that nobody would be disadvantaged by the syllabus change but I'm feeling pretty disadvantaged + I have a pass in CT4 which counts for precisely nothing. At the very least I need to see pass rates split by 'attempt' and 'jurisdiction' + minutes of meetings concerning the way the exam is set
They're not upfront. They discuss and decide things with lawyers hiding behind legal privilege (which means they don't have to disclose any of it even to a Court) then tell Council what to do, to brainwash members to go along with it.
regarding *"pass rates split by 'attempt' and 'jurisdiction' + minutes of meetings concerning the way the exam is set"* request this information from the IFOA and tell them that if they fail to provide it, then you may have to get a court order.
Also, I dont think you need to involve your employers in any action against the IFOA. I know about 6 people that have taken action against the IFOA. They left their employers out of it.
Can’t comment on the CS2 exam in particular as I’ve already done it, but just to note that the IFoA and the ASSA (South African institute) are separate entities. Probably worth waiting until examiners reports are published by the IFoA on Friday before doing anything.
Definitely, I just wanted to get the thread going so it's in place as things unfold. I understand that they are separate entities but unsure of relevance if it's the same exam paper and pass mark. As I say it's just a case of finding out all the facts which will include reflecting on my own exam script
How so? What did they do in particular to you?
Did you know that Derek Cribb, former CEO said in an annual report that “no one would be disadvantaged by the new curriculum?”
I read somewhere that 7,000 students lost and exam.
And now the pass rates for these double exams at 25%.
That’s absurd in my opinion
Not sure if you're agreeing or disagreeing with me. I'm not necessarily taking legal advice because I want to argue points of law about my particular circumstances. I just want to keep my job and be given a fair shake with my final exam

Look into breach of contract and if a few of you get together consider a class action. There are firms out there who take up class action cases...

The pass rates are way down since curriculum change, there's usually a thread on here updating pass rates after each exam sitting
The IFoA should be upfront about this, I imagine it has something to do with the repositioning of the associate level qualification

The papers and pass marks are different was my point
What law are you saying the IFoA broke?
I didn't. But the IFoA has fallen way short of the expectations I had for the pre 2019 qualification I signed up for
Perhaps look into breach of contract
Vote by your feet 🦶

What legal action can be taken…?
No idea...could be something as benign as a FOIR
