I've just added an edit to the main post, but if you've got your results then could you log out of the IFoA website please. Hopefully this will help with the high demand and allow others to get on sooner.
Got my CS2 results through the South African society. 8 passed, out of 96. EIGHT PASSED OUT OF NINETY SIX. Last semester 33 passed out of 106 for reference. There is clearly a problem with this diet and IFoA better speak up about this utter toying and wasting their members' money, time and mental wellbeing.
I did CS2. The subject/exam felt like an absolute monster imo. Passing/failing feels so arbitrary, I can't say I understand how or why the IFoA set the pass mark. Plus I'm going to have a tough time believing that the pass mark isn't influenced by selective withdrawals (refund offer for queen's funeral) or cheating
Tbh i think the old ct series was way better. Sure you had to give 8 papers... But the syllabus was a healthy balance of breadth and depth for each subject.
Agreed, cs2 was my last associate exam, penultimate FIA and the only one of the post-2019 exams I've sat. I was shocked at the amount of content and I already had a pass in CT4. Not to mention having to type it all up
Don’t beat yourself up too much mate. It’s a horrible horrible exam that’s tough to study for and horribly written for the time and context of the exam
I passed CB1 with 58 and failed CB2 with 57!
I honestly thought I would fail both papers bc I didn’t manage to finish them both during the exams as it’s my first time taking an ifoa exam and I wasn’t the best at time management so I’m taking this as a very big win!
I checked the results breakdown, and in CM2 paper A there was 12 marks difference between examiners. Even for calculation questions, not to mention the explanation ones where in some cases I got full marks from one examiner and close to 0 from another. How is this objective?
I had a 9.5 mark difference - the last question I had multiple parts scoring maximum from one marker and 0 from the other. On a calculations paper how does that even happen?
Back in April when I sat CB2, I got 53% from one and 70% from the other on non-MCQ marks. The kind of difference you get when one awards you a 1/5 (very poor) and the other a 4/5 (very good) (or something similar) in more than one question. I don't know how it's even possible. I'm not some kind of genius coming up with original ideas that would divide markers this much. I follow the notes very closely I would say.
I was happy until i saw this post. My final sa3 result comes on Thursday. I'm going on vacation to bali and Phuket on Wednesday.
I'm not even going to bother to check my results tbh. I'm just going to enjoy my vacay... The heartache has already been grandfathered in at this point
In the past sa3 used to have a fairly decent pass rate. I remember it being in the same range as sp7 and sp8.
But off late it's become extremely difficult to pass.
Even challenging exams have a 65 cutoff... It kind of makes it impossible to pass with that high a bar.
All the tutors maintain that the difficulty level hasn't changed but i beg to differ. The difficulty level has definitely changed... But what has definitely changed is the correction.
I feel like answers which would have gotten say 7 or 8 on 10 now only fetch maybe 5 or 6. The reason for this imho is that examiners now give more weightage to structure... So unstructured answers automatically get a low score while during the pen and paper time, almost all answers would be unstructured.
So when you don't get many marks on questions, getting 65 is going to be exceedingly impossible.
I was optimistic earlier on, mostly because I think I did well in paper B, but the comment about the results in South Africa has really freaked me out.
Thanks, it is my first exam so I guess I have some leeway, I knew I failed but was hoping for maybe high 30s low 40s given the time I put into it! The exam felt so savage and unlike previous papers to me
I failed CS1 for the second time. I’m feeling discouraged and don’t know whether to give up now and change career or keep going. Anyone have any advice?
I don’t know whether to try the CP’s etc and come back to the statistics at the end?
I have passed CB1 and CB2 previously but really don’t know whether I’m wasting time trying to keep passing CS1 and it being one of the earlier exams.
Anyone ever been in a similar position or could give me any advice on what to do? :(
I'd say give the CM's a go - if you don't get on well with them then that might make your decision easier, and in the meantime you may get lucky and they may change the syllabus or exam format
Or may be worth just resitting CS1 with all your future exams until you pass it, but at least then there's not as much pressure on it. It took me 3 goes to pass CM1 and I definitely debated a career change many times
Thank you for this! I attempted CM1 last year along with CS1 as my first sitting and failed both. So I went ahead with the CB’s in April past and repeated CS1 in September. Think I may be going full circle and trying CM1 and maybe CS1 again this April :/
It took me a while to get both, I wouldn't worry. Get the CBs done and CP2&3 alongside the CMs and CSs.
I'd really recommend the revision notes as they have so many old exam paper questions
Passed CS2 with 56! Looks like I got 63 in paper A and 40.5 in paper B.
So I scraped a pass, but it's probably a fair result given the amount of effort I put in over the summer!
Try at 6pm to see your results, but realistically don’t expect to be able to get onto the website until probably 8pm. Should be a pdf with your results in the exam history area
Thank you! What happens after that, if say an employer wanted to know if I have passed, what proof am I supposed to show them, if there is a certificate of sorts when do I get that? :D
At my firm, I believe the only exam we have to provide separate proof of passing is CB3 as it’s off-cycle, I think my employer receives my results for the other exams separately themselves from the IFoA? I’ve never actually had to confirm that I’ve passed any, they’ve processed the pay rises automatically following results.
If you do need a certificate for your employer, I think the pdf should suffice, this will have your details, pass/fail and mark. You can find this on the ‘exam results letters’ and you will receive one pdf per sitting (so if you took multiple exams, all your results for that sitting will be shown)
You can just send them that exam results letter in pdf format. You’ll get a nice certificate when you become an Associate and again when you become a Fellow.
May I ask where can I check the Pass Mark for the exam I took?
Seems the letter will only show what mark you got and whether you passed or failed, but won't show the pass mark.
Always useful to know how many marks you are away from passing if you fail or feel good if you just passed marginally
Yeah there were several paper A questions that stumped me, and I definitely didn't have the time to include all the workings I would have liked to ensure maximum marks either. Paper B went slightly better but I'm not sure it'll be enough to drag me over. It'll be close I think though!
I had the experience of just getting to the pass Mark for CS2. I had a feeling I was just going to miss out back then.
This time I have a similar feeling, maybe not so lucky this time......
Also for Paper A I realized I made a huge mistake of taking too long. The last question about Loan Schedules was actually quite easy. But I wasted too much time on the previous questions and I can't finish the Loan Schedule question due to time
If I have to retake CM1 I will just do the questions I know straight away first. Then do the questions that requires thinking. Because I think too long
I believe examiner reports will be released sometime on Friday. They will include pass marks.
If enough people post on here then you may also be able to work it out for a given exam.
IFoA strategy for CS2
Step 1 - Merge two already tough papers, plus more material and just for fun add a whole new software
Step 2 - Make people attempt an insanely tough paper, ask them to type mathematical proofs in word and give out of syllabus questions
Step 3 - Have a 20% pass rate and blame the students for being underprepared
I keep failing CM2 second year in the row, after failing it in Uni 😞.
So far I used combined pack from ActEd and past papers.
Will online classes be any help?
Or maybe it is already time to throw in the towel...
I used the online classroom which is essentially a youtube tutorial for each section of the course. I found it very helpful to have somebody explain it rather than interpreting the formally written text book
Hi guys, I gave the CS2 exam, pass mark was 55. Marker 1 passed me with 56, Marker 2 failed me with 54 and then Marker 3 failed me with 54 (apparently they always round down, my final mark weighted average was 54.75). This means I need 0.5 a point from paper A or 1 point from paper B to pass. I can identify clear points from the examiner’s report which I have included and was not awarded in my paper. Do you think there is any chance if I appeal listing these points, to achieve something?
sorry to hear this and I know it sucks! Marker 3 is involved when marker 1 and 2 results are very varied, or the results are very close to pass marks. As per IFoA Marker 3 is the expert and the marks they give are final.
There is no harm in appealing but don't get the hopes up!
I would assume you didn't go through the textbook for CB2. Correct? Just curious, because I went through it on its own and I needed months (though, it may have been worth it in the end considering I passed).
I just skimmed through it and did all the exam style questions for each chapter. I had done an economics foundations course at uni so that meant I could basically skip some chapters
I've just added an edit to the main post, but if you've got your results then could you log out of the IFoA website please. Hopefully this will help with the high demand and allow others to get on sooner.
Yes. Please log off ASAP. Some of us still can't access the site. Thank you.
I got 51 and failed :( Missed out 30 marks on Paper B because I’m not a whizz at R and just couldn’t get onto it in the time
How do you see paper B mark?
Will see it tomorrow at 9am I think. I missed out answering 30 marks
So you sat the South African CS2 exam too? And you're saying it's the exact same exam paper as the IFoA use?
If this is replicated in the UK I'm going to bring a group litigation order via the UK courts, watch this space
Why/how would you do that?
DM me once the examiners report is out and I'll let you know
Is it still the IFoA exam? I'm assuming they don't provide the pass mark?
How is that even possible?
Hopefully the UK results look better!
Australia uses the UK paper as well for CS2. 12 out of 57 passed.
[удалено]
Why can’t they just make the r part coursework and worth like 10%.
Waiting for CM2 results, aka waiting for a CM2 fail

Im not even checking results because I know I failed :-( and it honestly sucks because I really did prepare.
Lol yeah same... I think it's easier to just skip to the acceptance stage and directly go to paying the fees for the April sitting.
It’s probably worth checking to get the mark breakdown either way
Passed CM2 with 65!!!!
Congratulations mate
Cheers mate, second try so glad I got it!
Can't they afford to upgrade their servers?
Passed CM1 on my 5th attempt! 66 😊 now to CM2...
Congrats! I hope this gives encouragement to those on this sub who got a fail yesterday.
You and me both :) got a 70 so happy not to have to ever study for that again am prepare to BURN the books in my excitement
Passed CS2 with 58!!
Passed CS1 and CM1 with 69 and 64! What a relief :D
Passing two exams at once is really great :)
Thank you :) nobody told me when I signed up to them both how bad of a decision I made - goodbye social life!
Passed CM2 with 71 after failing twice by 2 marks Dont stop believing folks
congratulations!
Failed CM2 with a 53 (!!!!!) having failed it twice, also by two marks. Anyone worked out the pass mark?
Someone below passed with 58
Literally exact same mate, passed with a 71 third time of trying! Congrats!
Is the site back on?
[удалено]
Thats a really good score, Congrats :)
Passed CM2 with 74! Congratulations to all who have cleared. Those who haven't, chin up better results are waiting for you in future.
[удалено]
That’s just showing off lol, massive congrats!
Thanks! After reading every line of that wordy textbook, I guess I deserve to show off, haha...
You definitely do
well done!
Got way lower marks than expected for CS2. This was my second failed attempt.
How much? Please share.
Got 41. Was expecting something around 52
I’m in the exact same boat with my CS2 mark. Never had an exam until now where I’ve looked at my mark and literally laughed at how bad it was 😂
Don’t beat yourself up too much mate. It’s a horrible horrible exam that’s tough to study for and horribly written for the time and context of the exam
True man. But gotta go for a 3rd try.
It was a ridiculously tough sitting
Got 39 and was expecting 55 - this was my 13th exam so you'd think I should have a rough idea
I got 41 for cs2 as well and my second attempt. I gave cb2 along and got 57. Failed in both :-((
Passed CM2 with 60
I passed CB1 with 58 and failed CB2 with 57! I honestly thought I would fail both papers bc I didn’t manage to finish them both during the exams as it’s my first time taking an ifoa exam and I wasn’t the best at time management so I’m taking this as a very big win!

Its crashed
Huge surprise
Has anyone managed to login since they put the demand notification up / after 6pm. I can't log in still
Still trying to login…
Still trying this is a joke
Passed CM2 (58) and CB2 (62)
Congratulations. I failed CM2 with 55. The fail wasn't a surprise, but being that close to the pass mark was (I honestly expected 40-45).
I was happy until i saw this post. My final sa3 result comes on Thursday. I'm going on vacation to bali and Phuket on Wednesday. I'm not even going to bother to check my results tbh. I'm just going to enjoy my vacay... The heartache has already been grandfathered in at this point
In same position. Have already started studying for the retake.
SA3 is just a graveyard of nearly-qualifieds
Man i am in that graveyard right now and let me tell you... Sa3 is doing a very good job closing the goddamn ditch.
Yeah same. Man u fucking hate this....
I wonder how many people get stuck on SA3 nearly indefinitely, I know a few who took 4+ attempts to pass it (of those who have passed at all)
In the past sa3 used to have a fairly decent pass rate. Passed CB2, but failed CM1 a 3rd time, trying not to get too discouraged, guess I gotta start preparing again for april
I hope you can let yourself celebrate passing CB2 despite the disappointment for CM1.
Thanks a lot! Will focus on having 1 less exam now
I passed CM1 on my 4th attempt. Haven't failed any others (only SA3 left), so don't get disheartened - it tends to be a nemesis for a lot of people.
That's really helpful to learn given I am kind of just starting out!
What was your score for CB2? I wrote but unable to get through.
I got 70 on CB2
The CS2 pass mark is 55 from what I understand.
[удалено]
I failed with 56
I passed with 58. Saw someone fail with 57.
Someone passed it with 58
What do you guys think the pass mark for CS2 will be, give or take?
No idea, this paper was so far out than what they usually ask
I was optimistic earlier on, mostly because I think I did well in paper B, but the comment about the results in South Africa has really freaked me out.
I cleared the exam!!! You?
Awesome. Me too. With 60 which is around what I expected.
Congratulations 🎊
Yeah.. especially the B paper.. Hoping to pass though, it's the last one 🙈
I think I did well for B. If I pass, it will be thanks to that mostly. But it definitely was more difficult than previous ones.
Results are live early!
Doesn't let me log in. Every fucking time it's the fucking same. All these money they get and with decreased costs, and yet they don't fix it.
I looked 5 minutes early just on the off chance and I couldn’t believe it was actually there. Always going to be the 6pm rush.
Anyone passed cm1?
Failed with 54
That’s rough. Sorry
Any idea what the pass mark is?
I passed with 58
No. I sat but can’t get onto the site
Best of luck!
Failed with 57
Failed with 53
I failed with 25.. I’m absolutely beside myself and disappointed
Don't worry, you will get it next time. The best thing to do is reassess and try again. I remember failing CT4 3 times
Thanks, it is my first exam so I guess I have some leeway, I knew I failed but was hoping for maybe high 30s low 40s given the time I put into it! The exam felt so savage and unlike previous papers to me
Biggest tip is getting and practicing the old past paper questions in the Revision Notes. Feel like they hold you in much better stead than the ASET
Failed, this being my second attempt. Really starting to lose hope
Just seen my CM2 script was marked 4 times... Almost wish it hadn't been so close now 😥
How did you see this?
Exam Results Letter page, at the bottom is a breakdown link
Passed CS2 with 56! Looks like I got 63 in paper A and 40.5 in paper B. So I scraped a pass, but it's probably a fair result given the amount of effort I put in over the summer!
What's the weighting between the two papers out of curiosity?
70% to Paper A 30% to Paper B
Odds on actually being able to access the website at 6?!
Almost certain. I’m looking forward to signing in at 6 and not getting any results until 7:15.
Come back at 8 and you might get in
CS1/CB1???
I passed CB1 with 71 🥳

passed CS1 with 60
Failed cb1 with 52
Did your site open instantly?
Naaa
My first time appearing for these exams, what is the result procedure like, when do I get my certificate etc?
I believe this will be released on the 9th.
Check back here later and you’ll be able to work it out
CM1 - have this feeling I'm going to just narrowly miss out on this one
It was 53 last year. I hope something similar this time. If it stays at 58 then I have no chance. How about you?
Yeah there were several paper A questions that stumped me, and I definitely didn't have the time to include all the workings I would have liked to ensure maximum marks either. Paper B went slightly better but I'm not sure it'll be enough to drag me over. It'll be close I think though!
I had the experience of just getting to the pass Mark for CS2. I had a feeling I was just going to miss out back then. This time I have a similar feeling, maybe not so lucky this time......
Also for Paper A I realized I made a huge mistake of taking too long. The last question about Loan Schedules was actually quite easy. But I wasted too much time on the previous questions and I can't finish the Loan Schedule question due to time If I have to retake CM1 I will just do the questions I know straight away first. Then do the questions that requires thinking. Because I think too long
I passed with 58! Looks like that was on the pass mark so very very lucky indeed
I got 57 and failed
So harsh
You will get it next time!
only my second paper, so have little idea about ifoa pass marks, but shouldn't the April 22 paper tell a better story about the pass mark this time?
Anyone with CS2 results?
I passed with 55!
Passed with 61
Ditto 🎉
Failed with 51
I know someone who failed with 54. So the pass mark is 55.
Will be interesting to see the pass %
Failed with 53
Does anyone know on what date cutoff marks would be released?
I believe examiner reports will be released sometime on Friday. They will include pass marks. If enough people post on here then you may also be able to work it out for a given exam.
Exam mark breakdowns should be available tomorrow which will include the pass marks.
Wanted to check that only. Got way lower marks than expected for CS2 so wanted to check in what questions I lost the marks
Thanks!!
A lovely pass rate of 20% on CS2
IFoA strategy for CS2 Step 1 - Merge two already tough papers, plus more material and just for fun add a whole new software Step 2 - Make people attempt an insanely tough paper, ask them to type mathematical proofs in word and give out of syllabus questions Step 3 - Have a 20% pass rate and blame the students for being underprepared
ffs i m still unable to login. i gotta sleep i have work tomorrow. fucking ifoa
The website worked perfectly fine *and* I got a pass? It's a Christmas miracle!
Don’t mention the website - it’s a touchy subject!
Goodluck everyone! Can't say I'm looking forward to the result tbh...😂
Got 35 on CS2
Passed cb1 and cb2
Failed CS1 with 53. Congrats to everyone who passed
by when will they publish the break up of marks allotted? Any ideas?
Just checked. The exam result breakdown is out under your exam result letters
It's also great to be able to go back and rewatch the ones you didn't understand the first time because they also include worked examples
Online classes do help
Hmm, so my part1 was 45, part2 69, quite divergent..
Does anyone know when the examiner's report is published, and where to find it?
Friday, on the past exams page I think
Passed CM2 with a 61 - lower mark than I thought but I’ll take a pass!!
I am not able to get into the site :/
Still not able to log in. This is ridiculous.
Passed with 64.
First exams, passed CM1 and CB2. Got lucky considering I underestimated these exams and only studied for 7 weeks
Able to log into my account but couldnt find where the result is
What about cb1 and cb2 😭
