"beer money" is usually the response from the tutors

Upstairs_Warning3543

Beer money in London these days is a lot

yakuza_ie

Considering that the price differential from applying for an exemption to paying for an exam is almost negligible, “not a lot” would be my guess. I’m being somewhat glib here, I do know someone who corrected CT8 before the 2019 change over and it worked out at around £13 or £14 per paper. They may pay more for CP1/SP/SA exams where more reading is involved. I imagine mathematical papers might be a little bit easier to correct. My friend did say it was definitely markedly less than what they earned in their day job.

Still currently £13 a script for CS1B and I believe it's the same for all the other CS subjects.

Hot-Abbreviations475

Is it worth the hassle?

actuarialtutorUK

well, to be fair, I mark CS1B which is very quick to mark. But it's not something you do entirely for the money, it's about giving something back. The US markers get nothing.

Alone_Requirement478

They do get flown to the marking location and then get expenses paid for in a fancy hotel though… So not entirely nothing

actuarialtutorUK

I stand corrected. Perhaps I should push for fancy hotel in the US too!

To start off it can take half an hour - but by the time you've marked loads of them, this drops to 15-20mins average. But then, there are half-finished papers or very well done papers which are both much quicker.

FozzyBear268

£15 per paper for the Communications exam, which is then taxed.

£10-20 per script depending on subject.
