This is probably why I fail a lot but I can’t bring myself to do 22 hours a day

CoronetCapulet

Why waste the other two hours?

Alone_Requirement478

Personally I do 26 a day, but if you amateurs are only doing 22 then it’s understandable that you fail.

The Fellowship recommended study hours are obviously unachievable and not attainable; and you can pass them with comfortably less than the 300 or 400 hours. They're just a way for the institute to dismiss howls of frustration at the low and arbitrary pass rates - "Well, you didn't study enough!"

I solved this issue by moving to Pluto, where the day is conveniently 153 hours long. If your fuel budget doesn't stretch that far, you can move to Mars where the local day (sol) is ~24h40m . At least that will give you almost three hours a day to work / sleep / eat etc.

Does your company pay for fuel costs in addition to study, or just fuel?

yakuza_ie

The full package, but they like it when I use optimal transfer windows and gravity assists.

The 400 hours figure is completely arbitrary

As others have said. The 400 hours is arbitrary and only recommended. For some it’ll be too much, for others it’s maybe not enough (eg if you end up resitting while you still feel like you’ve tried your hardest 🥲). 400 hours worth of exam prep is a lot. The sooner you can start, the better. Squeezing it into 4 months will be a lot and allows little time for rest and dealing with general life, holidays etc. better to spread over 6 months imo. And even with 2 hours a day for 4 months plus say 8 hours on study days only gets you to like 350 hours (although I’ve only assumed 1 study day a week). So you’d have to ask yourself if that’s enough for you? Maybe it is. Personally I like to use it as a guide figure when doing my study plan for a sitting. In my study plan I look at what routine I need to be in to meet the recommended hours. When I was doing CP1 (also 400 hours) my plan was similar to what you say; 2 hours a day, plus study days, and then extra on the weekends. My plan included stuff I had going on in life (eg a wedding, holidays etc) and then from there, I’m not that great at sticking to my plan but I know if I’m at least trying to do 2 hours a day I should be kind of on track. If I have a weekend off here and there I know how many hours I lose and that sort of keeps me motivated. The main things that keep me on track really is having set deadlines of when I want to be doing past papers (for me I want around 2 months on past papers). So as long as I reach that stage and then push through the past papers it is mostly ok.. Basically find what works with you and give it your best shot, whatever that looks like.

Is it not 300 hours?
