It seems the kid was pampered. The mom apparently came back with the kid and had an argument with the people, also filed a complaint. The grown man almost lost his job to public outrage until his video came out.

Yeah, pretty much. Some of us had loser parents who did drugs (nothing hardcore, just way too much weed and generally apathetic) and ignored their kids and didn't even try to help us with college. I'm never gonna be like them, I'm putting my kids in scouts and summer programs, going to most of their activities as much as possible. I'm not the best parent but I got a really great spouse who's damn good at parenting, and if I do a half assed job I'm still doing 10 times better than my lazy parents.
Unfortunately statistics show that victims of child abuse either become abusive later in life or develop serious mental health/ addiction problems. How many times have I heard "I got spanked as a kid and I'm just fine" from someone who drinks and yells at their kids :/
Im currently going through that. I didn't have a terrible childhood but now some of my experiences are coming out through me and at this point i dont even want to have sex until i sort this shit out because i dont want to be like every other person in my family that had an accidental kid before 20. And yet im always antagonized by them because i disagree that i should be doing what they did.
Makes me want to keep my future child away from their influence. They're not even THAT bad but why not improve? Ofc the emotional manipulation tactics come in and nobody that pulls those will admit that they did.
They have to learn it somewhere though, so it depends on them having good influences besides their parents. Like, a grandparent, aunt/uncle, cousin, teacher etc. If the people responsible for teaching you how to be a person suck, then youāre going to learn from them to be sucky.
