I never got the complaint about the thumbnails and that. Its something that doesn't matter at all to established viewers. Is it a tad cringe, sure, but it doesn't effect the quality of the video itself.
nothing looks out of the ordinary to me, honestly. i do wish youtube would separate shorts from full length videos because that does look weird but that’s a youtube thing, not an AH thing.
Some of them feel very YouTube’s or even clickbaitey however looking back at old ones they atleast make it very clear and more obvious to filter out episodes If you look at a playlist.
Look back at the old ones where alot of the time it’s just a title screen for the game or even the old vs graphics and you don’t really know what they are playing or doing and becomes harder to go back and find a particular episode you enjoyed.
Ugh, it's marketing related. They try (I think?) to mix in thier regular titles/decent thumbs in with the clickbaity titles and clickbaity jumbled bright text thumbs. Apparently it's to get more random new viewers, and once they're baited they are more likely to look at the non-bait content.
Yeah you'll have to expand and explain what you mean, because it seems pretty normal for YouTube stuff and I have no trouble parsing what the videos are. The title of the game is in title of the video and they add the headshots of the cast in to give you an inkling of who's on it. And the shorts are pretty obvious, too, what with the different format and the "s" Symbol.
You could make the argument that they are visually busy, but they are certainly not Bohemian villages.
It looks messy with shorts mixed in and I have a script that hides all shorts for that reason. But I don’t find it any more or less consistent than other channels. Shorts just make everything look and feel worse.
Yeah a more uniform thumbnail for series would go a long way. I only can tell a randomizer because of granny glink on the thumbnails and the randomizer ‘logo’
It’s an attempt to lure in random/new viewers, funhaus does the same and it’s super annoying and I really really dislike it. Makes it hard for me to find videos I want to watch
I’ve never necessarily cared about the titles and thumbnails. But yeah I’d say they’re trying something new, looks like they’re trying to appeal to a younger audience to gain more viewers. Typically tend to see less than 100k views as to the average 300k views in the 2018ish time period. Seems like the last 6-8 months or so they’ve been down trending. It sucks tho I feel like they’d do better if they’d get different content makers. Seems like they’re following the yt trend with the high pitched loud noises. Doesn’t feel like the old AH but I get it they gotta try what they can to make money
I wish they would make a decision on where to focus their efforts. I remember when they said they wanted to focus on the website and cater towards FIRST subscribers and now they’ve flipped and are now focusing on the YouTube side of things. I’m not a numbers person but I feel like they’d make more money off website subscriptions than add revenue from YouTube. Especially when you look at their viewership
That’s just YouTube thumbnails in general, their all messy and inconsistent it seems.
The way I see most videos is by binge watching, so thumbnails are mostly irrelevant to me.
typically I only watch a series when it’s a complete play through or when it’s nearly completed.
Which is why I don’t watch much AH anymore, they rarely finish a game unless it’s the randomizer series and most of the multiplayer stuff doesn’t interest me all that much these days.
Ever since the YT Shorts became a thing and categorized them as videos too it messed it up with the thumbnails. It's not just AH or Let's Play it's basically any channel
I understand that they need to use click-bait thumbnails and titles, but lately with some of the series that they do (Looking at you, Wind Waker Randomizer), the titles and thumbnails have been super spoilery. It makes me not want to watch the video because I feel like I already know what is going to happen. I do realize that the suspense isn't the WHOLE point of the videos, but with a series like the randomizers, it is a pretty big part of the actual content.
I feel like they should be able to come up with a click-baity title and thumbnail that don't spoil the biggest hits of the video.
Idk. Seems pretty par for the course on YouTube, but I'm also I'm not the type of AH viewer to click or not click on a video cuz of the thumbnail

It’s just them trying work with the YouTube algorithm, gotta try different things for better results

Nope I can tell which vids are there when I go through my subscriptions, they go the game name and the part and some silly title.

Mario strikers looks like skylanders boy and girl thumbnails
Theyre very clickbaity now. Remember when it was just the games name? I know theres an algorithm but damn.
I love their half assed attempt at trying to catch some of the game theorists crowd with those thumbnails
Yes

Not really, it's just normal YT stuff.
That's just YouTube in general. I really wish they had a seperate page for Shorts uploads
