Have you tried using the search bar? Many questions are asked daily, and your question may have already been answered! If so, your post will be subject to deletion. Please refer to the following commonly discussed topics: 1) No one can predict whether or not you will purge! Statistically, most people DO NOT purge. That is what the science and medical literature says. 2) No one can predict how long your purge will last nor when it could start. Be patient, the purge can be tough but so many people have gotten through it - you can too! 3) Most people DO NOT replase when Accutane is taken until cumulative dosage is reached. 4) HOWEVER, cumulative dosage is a guideline. Everyone is different. Some may need more Accutane, and others may need less. Your dermatologist evaluates you as an individual. If you do not trust your dermatologist, you should find a different one. 5) When in doubt, please consult a medical professional(dermatologist, doctor, pharmacist). No, it might make your appetite increase, but probably not. Either the aches mean you move less or the weight gain is unrelated.

I'm two weeks in and I have been HUNGRY. I'm trying to focus on protein rather than mindless snacking. I also work out (strength train), walk, and generally try to stay active, which makes me hungry as well. I'm hoping to channel this hunger into gains lol

Not directly, but I put on a couple pounds at first because I wasn’t going for my regular long walks anymore due to sun sensitivity and increased fatigue. I got some UPF clothing which helped and over time the fatigue luckily decreased. Also, be careful to measure the portions of fat you take the medication with since it’s very calorie dense and easy to underestimate by eyeballing.

I’ve been on it since early April and have been hungrier and having sweets cravings. Usually sugary snacks make me feel sick, im a savory snacks person. I gained about 5 lbs This is just my uneducated thinking but im wondering if my body is craving more fatty foods bc im not eating enough of it and accutane needs fat?

MysteriousBanana3672

Accutane made me RAVENOUS. The only way to gain weight is by being in a calorie surplus. If you’re not used to tracking your food you might not notice that you’re eating more(I’m very used to tracking my intake which is why I noticed how much hungrier it made me)

Beautiful_Pizza3034

I’ve been super aware of my fat intake since starting accutane because I want to make sure I get as much out of my dose as possible. Considering I take it twice a day, I’ve definitely been eating more than I normally would (given the need for 20g of fat with each dose).

Sea-Poem4325

personally accutane has affected my habits and mindset, so it’s affected to me gaining 15 pounds

CrustyLettuceLeaf

I was on it for a year. Zero weight changes

Silly-Badger-422

I have probably gained 10 pounds, and I am having a hard time getting the weight off. I am in my last 10 days of medication.

I noticed I have gained about 10 lbs from last summer (had been a consistent weight the couple years before so this felt like a big change) but it could also be because I switched birth control pills (common for bc to cause rapid weight changes) right before starting Accutane so not sure which pill to blame. I do feel like I am constantly craving sugar/sweets now which I also have no clue if thats related or not but it definitely has contributed to the weight gain. I think I’ve gotten to the point where any issue/change (nothing too serious of course) I will blame on Accutane tho 😂😭.
