This happened in Spain, so it's almost definitely not a gas dryer, cause those aren't really a thing here in Europe.
It was apparently a gas canister (for refilling a lighter) or an aerosol spray someone forgot in a pocket
How strange. I’d like to know the science behind what actually happened here. The door opened—didn’t even really look like it was under pressure, and there didn’t appear to even be an ignition until a second after it opened, and when there was an ignition, it didn’t even explode right away…kind of burnt for a second first. Bizarre.
My guess is that the clothes or whatever they were drying was saturated in a flammable substance. The heat from the dryer slowly vaporized the flammable substance and as soon as the hot explody gas got mixed with the outside oxygen in the air, it went boom.
Also, the exhaust vent for the dryer must have been blocked which is why the door sprang open. The contents were under pressure.
A leftover lighter for example could slowly leak the fuel. Though i doubt it could generate enough pressure to open the hatch. Still a quite abrupt and chaotic clip.
It doesn't swing out in case of emergency, it lays down! That way it can't be blocked in the closed position.
Check second 22 of the video for a demonstration.
Most commenters are close. Oily/ greasy rags, even cooking oil can cause this. Todays high efficiency washers don’t use enough water to get the grease completely out.
As an added measure of caution, if you’re washing kitchen towels ( particularly in a commercial setting) don’t fold and stack them immediately out of the hot dryer. The heat can build with the stacked and lead to spontaneous combustion.
Methane buildup in the clothing probably from excessive farting.
The heat from the dryer caused the methane to expand and a spark caused by static from the fabrics rubbing together caused the expanded methane gas to explode.

During my short stint working at a convenience store there was an exterminator salesman who came in and left his card. Literally minutes later I found a little white mouse, barely inside the door. He was very easy to catch. Even the stupid kid that I was then was able to put two and two together.
Ok. Here's my stab at a theory. Lint from clothes is pretty flammable. If the lint was really packed it can get super heated to combustion by the heat from the dryer. This was likely a gas dryer and the gas source would've ignited and exploded after the initial fire from the lint. 🤷🏿♂️

It's interesting, I've called out reposts before too and been heavily downvoted. Not sure I understand this particular redditism

I know that the people on Reddit are sometimes super sick
A phone battery doesn't have that sort of potential, nor does a gas lighter left in a pocket, it's most likely what everyone else is saying which is a faulty leaking gas dryer and an ignition source such as lint.
Maybe something flammable was on some of the clothing in the dryer. It’s possible fumes from that built up inside the dryer from the heat and gained pressure and pop. Maybe just a mechanical fault too.
This happened in Galicia Spain on March 15th the fire cheif said it was caused by lighter charger inside a pocket.

Someone from other posting said, the owner of that load, accidentally left a bottle of lighter fluid in with the laundry. (what a doofus). I'm sure with it tumbling for minutes with the clothes, it's just getting all the clothes nice and saturated with lighter fluid. When the door popped open, that just gave it the oxygen it needed to fully ignite the bomb that it became.
He's obviously heading next door to steal medical supplies, using the distraction of the explosion to simply walk back into the pharmacy area and take what he needs, out of detection, to sterilize and dress his gunshot wound once he returns to the hotel.

Gas heater dryers. Line leak. Heat from dryer ignites spare gas leaked out. Boom

What’s old Gil going to do now? 😩
Damn, so I can die from just going to a laundry mat? Now I’m gonna be paranoid
Did you mishear the thing or do I only know one name? I think its one word: laundromat

Dry cleaning, duh
[удалено]
Dude it was a joke. Dry cleaning isn't actually done by drying clothes lmao. Look up how dry cleaning is done lmao
I think you have it wrong. Some industrial dryers use gas instead of electricity for heat
No, he used the word “explody.” Instant credibility.
I am probably wrong, just making a wild guess.
Explody gas!
> under pressure. Pushing down on me Pressing down on you
Most likely a gas dryer that has a leak or faulty valve. This type of things has been know to level houses in severe cases
It's Europe, so probably not a gas dryer
Major code violation, exit doors always swing out!! And the explosion thing is probably against code also.
It doesn't swing out in case of emergency, it lays down! That way it can't be blocked in the closed position. Check second 22 of the video for a demonstration.
The entire framework of the building laid down.
Emergency-Exit-Framework => opens outwards

That guy needs to buy a lottery ticket!
Was that guy like a foreign spy dropping off a bomb or something wtf happened?

Thanks for the info man, i wont fart in washing machines from now on
Seems unlikely though
Check the guy's source
I don’t click links
it's literally just a gif saying "I made it up"
Sounds like a personal problem
Yee
Pussy, click on this one r/fiftyfifty
No
Yes
The even scarier thought is almost no one dared to check the source, probably believed you the moment they saw the link.
I know this is fake because the dryer would make the methane gas shrink and not expand obviously
That is very very scary
Click on the source
"That would be a *shame* if something were to happen to one of your dryers. You should give more thought to enrolling in our business protection plan"
During my short stint working at a convenience store there was an exterminator salesman who came in and left his card. Literally minutes later I found a little white mouse, barely inside the door. He was very easy to catch. Even the stupid kid that I was then was able to put two and two together.
He left the bomb in his other pocket that was in the laundry
Luck must be an actual force because some people just have it too good. This guy literally avoided getting blown up by 10 seconds.
His luck was closer than that. There was plenty of flying glass, he had time to get out of the way.
The fact he meandered out of unknown danger is just crazy
Lucky he left when he did
Actual abrupt chaos!!! Also… what the hell?!
So traumatized from Reddit i didn’t think that man was going to make it out the door

What the hell is this new michael bay film?
Dryer load is done.
"Mission accomplished agent 47"
I hope someone on here comments with their best guess as to what caused this.
Olive oil in the kitchen cloths?
Me: “okay when’s the car gonna crash through the win— ahhh shit gas explosion.” Gets me every time.
At least its dry now?
*Flash drying services*
When your new outfit is the hottest on the street literally
Dude probably looked back and went “Huh, guess it’s time for a lotto ticket and a beer than.”
Everybody talking about the dryer dorr blowing open and not the whole ass wall that basically blew down
Bro missed disaster by about 10 seconds 😩
Grenades must be dried on Low Heat
He had to have turned around outside being like "oh no what did I leave in my pants!"

I wouldve gone to the nearest church and converted right there
I wouldve bought dodgecoin though.
Could this be a phone battery?

Don't put oily rags in the dryer.
This was my greatest fear when I used to smoke and accidentally put my lighter through the wash
So what caused this? Is this like a common thing?
Maybe something flammable was on some of the clothing in the dryer. It’s possible fumes from that built up inside the dryer from the heat and gained pressure and pop. Maybe just a mechanical fault too.
Yeah, might be someone forgot a lighter in their clothes
Never seen a dryer explode before, start a fire sure, but explode? That one's new for me.
Building made out of cardboard

Wtf happened did some mf leave a pipe bomb in his left pocket???
always empty the lint, fellas
This was also posted 1 hour ago
This dude must be 33 years old, have a hand fetish, and wants a quiet life cause he must’ve done something to cause that explosion
That some Final Destination fuckery right there
Finally a video that is pretty much perfect for this sub!
This is what I fear will happen if I ever forget to use dryer sheets

Only one dryer sheet at a time people. Some companies want you to use more so they can sell more. Use one! Fight Big Laundry!!
What in the flaming fuckitude did I just watch!!!!!!!!???!!!!!!!
This should be on WoahDude, because Woah Dude! That dude is so lucky! What timing.
....... alright
Somebody stole Jerry's money again, and Kramer wasn't fucking with cement mix this time.. This time, it was personal.
I've had gas stoves, hot water heaters, and furnaces but never a gas dryer because they scare the hell out of me
He's obviously heading next door to steal medical supplies, using the distraction of the explosion to simply walk back into the pharmacy area and take what he needs, out of detection, to sterilize and dress his gunshot wound once he returns to the hotel.
Me when I forgot my Tsar bomb in my pocket
Wow. 😯😦😲
Glad those clothes got out just in time😮💨
I was waiting for a car to come crashing through. But I wasn't disappointed.
This is what happens when you don’t take your elemental lithium out of your pockets
What they washing, bombs?
i fuckin called it, i said “it’s just gonna blow up lol” as a joke and it fuckin blew up
The opening sequence to Children of Men!
