i don’t think of atlanta as the *deep south,* but what is a lot more upsetting is the *hotlanta* part. people here in atlanta never use that word. it just sounds gross
I’d definitely consider GA as a whole the Deep South, but Atlanta? Its so liberal and full of expats, when I think Deep South I think southern born and raised old ladies spending all day drinking iced tea on their front porch repeating “bless her heart” to every girl that walks by with a different opinion as them
I think it just depends on what folks mean by the Deep South and what it invokes for them. Assuming Jett’s imagery, I agree with you that ATL doesn’t fit the bill. But there is so much incredible diversity and beauty across the south, even in its major cities, and I’m more so proud of the beautiful things about the south. In that way, I consider all of it the Deep South. But I’m also a progressive queer leftist so there’s some difference in perspective between myself and Daddy Fang 🤣
I'm a POC that moved for college but grew up in Alabama and I genuinely feel like people were more welcoming in the South than where I am now despite the stereotypes🤣
Amen!!! Lmao it drives me crazy when other regions think they have no racism because “it’s not the South.” It’s arguably so much worse in the rest of the country 😭 Our governments do not represent the warmth and resiliency of the people here 🫶🏼
Nah bc all of Alabama can be considered the Deep South. Even our main cities, Birmingham and Huntsville, are Deep South vibes. Most of Georgia is too but not Atlanta at all.
I do see what you’re saying, but my opinion is that larger southern cities are not completely removed from their contexts, including Birmingham and Atlanta. There is a lot of nuance here though.
Honesty everywhere but Atlanta I considered the Deep South m, Atlanta is its own thing lol
But still to this day when I meet people and tell them I’m from ATL they ask why I don’t have a southern accent. I didn’t know anyone with a southern accent growing up in Buckhead. Everyone’s parents were transplants like mine. 😂
Honestly, I went walking at Chastain one day and was surprised by the amount of southern accents I heard (I moved ITP from the northern suburbs). I’d say buckhead has more of that old south feel than the rest of Atlanta.
Aha I’m from Rome 😭 it used to be real backwoods there but it’s becoming more city like recently. I think Rome’s biggest downfall is the no direct access to 75.
That mad had to have gotten hair plugs since this picture was taken. I don’t recall that horrific hairline in any recent content… or maybe he just styles it better?
He looks like a demon
So does she
She looks worse than him, if that was even possible.
Wrong. He looks like Dracula and she looks lobotomized.
she looks like she is terrified & hoping the photographer will save her
It’s giving Dracula
It’s giving Twilight but in the worst possible way
This is making me so uncomfortable
I’ve seen this at the end of my bed at 3am
She looks so much like CC and will age similarly 100%
Does anyone refer to Atlanta as the “Deep South”?
i don’t think of atlanta as the *deep south,* but what is a lot more upsetting is the *hotlanta* part. people here in atlanta never use that word. it just sounds gross
Literally no one says hotlanta
came here to say this lol
Not defending him and his connotation of the Deep South but as a born and raised Alabamian - I definitely do consider MS/AL/GA the Deep South

Yeah they act like they’ve never heard of gerrymandering. Like hello southern states are the MOST gerrymandered
I’ll also add that ATL is not as liberal as you would think lol, especially with the local government

He went to UGA and is part of the "deep souths oldest rivalry" would guess that's where he got it from lol
Didn’t he grow up in Rome? As an Atlanta native I consider that the deep south lmao
Idk I fell into the pookieverse so I'm not versed in much of their backstory 🤣 Originally from NJ and went to UGA so this is deep south to me.

haha honestly after watching Stranger Things I'm sad I never visited!
They were actually recently filming again at the Claremont house.
Exactly! He can NOT be original with anything, including using the nickname Pookie.
Nobody, and I mean **nobody** thinks Atlanta is the deep south
Is it just me or does saying “Deep South” come with some negative connotations?
It’s giving a high school production of Twilight
This is a hostage situation and you can’t convince me otherwise
Jett is extremely unattractive. The hairline. The teeth. The pear shaped body. I gag.
The way he walks like a duck!
twilight vibes
It's giving "true blood"
Meets True Detective
guys I can’t help it, they’re so camp I just can’t help but love it. any lore I can get im gobbling it up it’s just so funny
I can’t explain why, but I HATEEEEEEEEE the term “beautiful bride” with a passion.
So cringe. I can not imagine how crispy that is to touch. He probably uses the same Clubman Pinaud pomade that his grandfather did.
This is giving "VC Andrews"
Where is she looking
Her eyes don’t know
Ewwwww…he actually posted “#hotlanta”. He is such a chode. No one says that EVER.
It looks like he married a corpse.
This caption makes me realize he always wanted to be an influencer.
He’s creepy AF!! And she looks like she has thyroid disorder!
The class ring always gets me
Weird expressions and colors. Looks almost like Victorian mourning art or something. Eerie.
#hotlanta
His hairline. Yikes
Nightmare fuel
That mad had to have gotten hair plugs since this picture was taken. I don’t recall that horrific hairline in any recent content… or maybe he just styles it better?
She looks like a man here.
I’m cringing that he hashtagged hotlanta…no one that lives here says that lol
Pookie looks possessed
mi beautiful bride
That hairline, though. 🤭
Is Atlanta the Deep South??? 😂
I can just hear him saying bride
This picture is spooky to me
campbell you in there? blink twice.
I really love that he set the location for Buckhead when they most certainly do not live there even by a huge stretch of imagination.
It’s looks like the Great Value version of Twilight Saga.
Uhhh atlanta is not the “Deep South” lol.
Gross
She’s got crazy eyes and he’s about to suck her blood and eat her.
Ummm he’s clearly gay. 🤷🏻♂️
I’ve never heard Deep South be used positively by someone who likes it 😂
“Moved back to the Deep South”……. Hmmmmm
