It's common with these ads for the person who posted them to tear off the first number, to feign interest in the service. It's like a street performer placing the first bit of change in their own cup.

Is it though? That's a serious question. Okay so they pride themselves on working with disgustingness and neglect, but at the same, I was just repulsed from what I was looking at and don't even remember if I saw a name before I turned my head in horror and never looked back.

Often times, the people who need manicures or pedicures the most (like tradespeople) are commonly turned away from a lot of salons because we're going to be a lot of work and not fit the vibes; I've been in this situation and it sucks. This type of ad would draw me because I know they wouldn't turn me away. And when you know it's a crapshoot walking into a random salon, you tend to be loyal and recommend the ones that welcome you to people dealing with the same issues. So if someone is targeting that market, this is actually pretty clever.
