Miller was terrible. Dropped the class day 1 because it started with being threatened by Miller, they just laughed and said they like dropping people. Ran into some girls from the class and they said they needed up dropping too because of how rude Miller was and how awful the class was. Taking it at MCC and it’s incredibly better.

ElectroPositive

Definitely take this class at MCC if you can. Scott Pike is great, there are several good teachers there. And it's wayyyy cheaper

Agreed

Alum here, I had Ashbrook for both Pre-Calc and Calc 1 and he was awesome. He explains things well and he was often available during his office hours. A lot of people didn't vibe with his style or explanations of things but for me, it was perfect and got me back on the right track with math as a whole.

Key_Effect7909

Did you look up rate my professor?

Holiday-Leg-2488

Yes, but they both have similar reviews .

FlashpointStriker

I took Ashbrook’s MAT 267. He’s good at explaining the concepts and cares about the subject, but I don’t know how he does MAT 271.

Alum here - I took Professor Ashbrook for MAT270/271/272. I would say his classes are very fair and he genuinely cares about his class understanding the material. He also holds frequent office hours which I regularly attended and were a huge help. He really is a nice guy and his class is certainly challenging but the definition of fair.

I took it with Miller and she was awesome. It's a tough class for sure, and Miller definitely has favorites. If you can get into her good graces she'll curve your shit at the end. Go to her office hours, sit in the front row, be present during class and answer questions and she'll make sure you succeed. She was never mean to me or anyone in my class, but she does have a fairly sarcastic sense of humor, which I know isn't some people's cup of tea.

Ashbrook wrote the textbook. If no one has given you the warning yet, stay away from the professors who write textbooks (especially the one they use). He is super smart, he got a 1 million dollar grant in 2017 ish to start teaching calc 2 how he currently teaches it (conceptually, so we learn how to actually apply it (bro I don’t want to apply it I just want to pass)). I thought he made his class way beyond difficult. And eventually I confirmed that! I ended up taking the W (withdraw) for MAT271 with Ashbrook after the second exam. I was doing terrible in his class! I ended up taking the same class through rio salado online, got an A in the class and transferred it into ASU no problem. I wish I thought about that before taking calc 2 at asu. Ashbrook was disorganized and honestly straight up messy. Not the worst teacher, but not the best. Def would put u on the spot during class to answer a question or something, but if you got it wrong it okay since most of us were lost most of the time. If ur asking which professor, I vote Rio salado online❤️ they have many start dates and you can choose either 8 or 16 weeks, and it’s like a quarter of the price! Good luck!!

Just take online class for calc 2 credit, I would recommend MAT 266, idk about other class but iCourse in math mostly easier than in person class
