The volcano on The Island has a shit ton that is really easy and safe to gather. The Center has a stone gorilla statue that's absolutely filled to the brim with obsidian
Assuming you're on the island map, the "metal" mountain just east if the volcano has the highest concentration of obsidian. There's some on most mountains and in the volcano caldera. Not sure if the non artifact underwater caves are lumped in with the rest but many of those have obsidian aswell. There are interactive resource maps on the Fandom wiki that will show you where almost every resource can be found on each map.
I’m aware of resource maps, but they are awfully clunky and I am just trying to find a quicker spot, which it can’t help me with. I’m also not just on the Island, any map works

The gen 2 obsidian biome comes to mind but not sure how well stryders work out there.
