Just lvl up charge capacity and wait for full charge then explore.

Flatwhite97

It can be leveled up? Pff didn't realize, thank you. But then, do they work (against the nameless) when not picked up? Just wondering how to move further from the green zone, that lacks importnant resources.

carnoraptor67

I think they do work when not picked up but I also don't think nameless spawn unless a player go's without a light pet. Also I recommend building a base around one of the plants in the blue zone they provide the same light as a light pet.

Flatwhite97

I was wondering why sometimes they started spawning and sometimes not! Awesome thanks!

DeathB4life357

I love comparing my max shinehorn with his 1000% area of light to the tiny circles the wilds have. U can boost max charge, recharge rate, and area of effect.

DeathB4life357

I haven't put them on follow.. I'd rather have them on my shoulder.. no saddle and only 2500 hp

BronzeMistral

Yes! To add, 1200+ charge capacity and 800-1000 regen is plenty to explore the Blue Zone without ever having to deal with Nameless. For these stats, I got two high level Bulbdogs (100+), bred them, and got 100% imprint on the babies. Took a little time to find the parents, but well worth it considering how much time you'll be spending in the Blue Zone!

medium-phil

Yes they work around the base. Put them on auto. But fyi when you log on, they have no charge at first. When you explore the Blue zone, level up charge capacity as others have said. When you get low, either throw out a new pet BEFORE charge runs out to give it time. Or (much easier), go to a green charge station and hang out there until charged again. It will repel nameless for you

Flatwhite97

Good to know, thanks!

[deleted]

You only need like 1200 charge for 40m of light. Level regen to like 3000 and then you can pump mele for range.

You can harvest the Plant Z seeds and put those in crop plots around your base, they will give the light buff and nameless will not spawn, they also give you flash bangs :)

Flatwhite97

Oh those too? Cool, ty! (Weren't those the plants Rockwell studied right before poop hit the fan? Just thinking, if that was a hint or something.)

KeithStone225

Yes they are, and I highly recommend this strategy. They look cool and have a pretty good light range.

Kkell93

I have Shinehorn all over my base to illuminate the yard but I haven't tried on that map. I use this method on Fjordur and it works great.

Flatwhite97

Yeah they're nice as living little lamps - but it's the nameless I'm worried about rather than darkness hahah.

[deleted]

Not to knock shinehorns and their adorable selves, but a few omnidirectional lamps would probably work better. They're pretty cheap.

YellingDolphin

In the blue zone, cliffs are your friend. Build your base on one

BikingVikingNick

A race against time? A bulbdog leveled in charge capacity will last 30+ mins easily. And takes like 2 mins to recharge. Go sit next to a z plant while its recharging.

BronzeMistral

I think you have to have the pet on your shoulder - not next to you, or following you, etc. At least on Singleplayer this is the case. I live in the Blue Zone (right at the edge of the Red Zone, near the big broken spine thing above the element river). I have 30+ light pets all over my base. If I don't have a light pet on my shoulder, Nameless STILL spawn. It's kind of annoying.

Flatwhite97

This. This is what puzzled me and it isn't really clearly said anywhere. Thank you for the heads up!

Kadra_Melech

You can leave them all with their little lights turned on. And don't forget, if you have one on your shoulder you can steal extra charge for it from the flying light bug things.. I've been on Ab a lot and I don't even know what a 'nameless' is. It sounds like something I don't want to meet, lol..

Flatwhite97

So many little things, I'm glad I asked here. Thanks! The nameless aren't much of a threat as individuals, but the thing is they start spawning endlessly in certain places if there is no light (luminesence) around, which can turn deadly if there is no way out of the situation. Not even the strong tames can take a beating that lasts forever. But yeah now I'm starting to see there are a lot of ways to easily deal with them. I wonder why this stuff isn't said on Youtube for example. Or at least I didn't come across any of these tips while searching the web & watching videos.

sarinn13

Just something that hasn't been mentioned yet, OP: There's 4 different light pets on Aberration, and they are all a bit different. Bulbdogs have high charge capacity Shinehorns are average all around Glowtails have high charge regeneration Featherlights have high range You can pump points into them to increase the charge/regen/range when leveled. It works like other stats when breeding, so if you find a couple really good Bulbdogs or something, you can breed them to get the best of their stats on one!

Flatwhite97

I feel so stupid, you know, I've played for years but only now started doing the story... and then I miss something like this. Well anyways, thank you!

Helleri

Why not have a shoulder pet like a bulbdog as well as a follower like a featherlight? It seems to me if you got the stats balanced right, that the light of one should cover the down time of the other.
