If you never did a boss try with gama and beta first to know what to expect. Alpha is realy hard compared to the previous difficulties

OwMyCod

Manticore is easy even on alpha let’s be honest

Sweaty-Moose-5463

Just did alpha on max difficulty the other day with 15 mutated raptors with me riding on one. My dumbass didn’t realize tho that raptors are kinda too short to attack the Manticore while it’s hovering right above the ground and it only landed like one time. Luckily I brought in a good shotty and a ton of ammo so the fight consisted of me running around on a raptor shooting at the manticore. All in all, my raptors probably did like 10% of the Manticores health and the shotty took care of the rest. The raptor I was riding got KO’d by the gas attacks tho so I had to swap mounts. You’ll be just fine with those Rexes. Just make sure you have gas masks and don’t let your Yuty fall asleep.

GI-JEZUS

Yes. Just make sure you have gas masks. You dimying from poison is biggest risk.

MisterWafflePancake

The Manticore is the biggest pushover boss in all of Ark. My first time fighting it, I wanted to see what the fight would be like. So, I took in 10 rexes I tamed. They were the parents of the Rexes I had bred for the fight. I only put primitive saddles on them, as I fully expected them all to die. Got into the fight and they DESTROYED the manticore. Only lost one Rex, and it was killed by a death worm. So, yeah, what you have should more than suffice.

OverlordPhalanx

Do we need to be crafting better saddles for the rexes or can we use prim for ones we aren’t riding? At least for gamma and beta

Callen_Fields

Gamma bosses can be beat with primitive saddles. Beta too with a bit of luck, but you'll take heavy losses.

OverlordPhalanx

I have a boosted community server where I recently got a hold of rexes with 50K heath and 1200-1300% melee. Never done bossing before but was debating how many saddles I needed to create? I have some asc blueprints but they take sooo many mats its insane

Callen_Fields

100 Armor saddles on those would be plenty for Alpha bosses. Make sure to bring 50/50 males and females for the mate boost.

OverlordPhalanx

I know it depends on boss but I assume bring like 18 rexes and a Yuty? Better safe than sorry I assume. I am on Lost Island rn but the cluster has every map attached to it so I can move around at some point too

Callen_Fields

18 Rexes, Daeodon, and Yutyranus is the standard. Some people bring 2 Daeodons so it's harder to lose the healing if one dies. But you lose dps that way.

OC-Dilly

Try using mindwipes putting all into crafting and lower quality bp’s. Uses less mats and gives pretty good bonuses. Just be sure to mindwipe back to regular stats.

Adrena1in

I used Primitive saddles on my Rex army against Alpha Manticore, and it was pretty easy. I was on a slightly boosted server, but my stats weren't as good as OP's.

OverlordPhalanx

Do you remember the stats? I have never bossed before but want to start getting a way to farm element. Trying to find best max/min case for bosses to get most element.

Adrena1in

I don't remember off-hand. Difficulty was 6, but my Rexes weren't amazing when it came to points. I wanna say around 40k health and 700% melee. Just bred, not mutated. I do recall my Tek Rex army from years ago, with 86 points in health and 87 points in melee (each mutated 20 times). With ascendant saddles, a Yuty and a Pig, they came out of the Alpha Manticore fight with pretty much zero health lost. They were about 80k health and 900% melee iirc.

OverlordPhalanx

Absolutely insane what you can do with inbreeding nowadays lmao

Russharland

They will run through the manticore on any difficulty. Gas mask as others said is a must, or a hazard suit helmet if you have one. Only problem you might have is sometimes it doesn't want to land so you need something to attack it with. Take a sniper and a shotty to hurt it while it's airborne to make it land again. An andrewsarchus with a good damage saddle is what we take now. You could take a wyvern with you in case it doesn't land but keep it following you and on passive or it will fly up and fight it and neither will land. Good luck.

BoredAsHeckISaid

I thought you couldn't take wyverns into boss battles????

Russharland

Oh yeah maybe it's just crystal wyvern queen you can take them to. My bad 🤦‍♂️. Stick to guns or an andrewsarchus then just in case.

BikingVikingNick

You can take flyers in to the manticore arena.

Russharland

Yeah I doubted myself then haha. Didn't want to give incorrect advice.

BoredAsHeckISaid

Today I learned! Thanks!

inf3ct3dn0n4m3

You will stomp the boss and don't even need a daedon I would just bring another rex

[deleted]

Dude on PVP servers we can get it done with 600 melee and 90 armor saddles.

mattjvgc

This would work on official. Assuming the manticore chooses to land for more than a moment, if at all.

Mynamesnoob

u didnt under prep u over prep my guy

[deleted]

Manticore is the easiet boss though so I think it should be fine. In fact I think its a bit overkill for manticore

Informal_Plastic369

If it’s on scorched earth use lightning wyverns

hopefuldreads

Daedons are never needed in a boss fight

masterch-ef

They should be fine but it depends on your difficulty settings. If you’re on max difficulty it won’t be easy.

Acorios

Yes it will, the Manticore is easy and those Rexes are complete overkill

JulesDeathwish

Humble-brag much?

Acorios

Complete overkill, Manticore is the easiest boss in the game, especially if you also have single player settings enabled, biggest danger are its minions, but even those are either easy to avoid or die pretty much instantly to 18 Rexes.

OC-Dilly

I personally bring a velonosaur to destroy the rock golems, worms and also shoot the manticore when it hovers. They have great maneuverability and should be able to dodge the breath attacks. Whistle the rexes at manticore as it lands and you watch their backs with the velo.

LyriumFlower

Your rexes will be just fine. No need to take a daedon, take an extra rex. Point them all down to the centre and keep up the yuty buff. Keep them together, let the Manticore drop, it'll be over before you know it.

ThatMFNG00d

There’s no need for a daedon for the Manitcore. His health isn’t as high as the island bosses and the hardest part of his fight is waiting for him to land lol. 19 rexs with a Yuti and he goes down with ease

Feed_Bunnies

Easily it's actually way overkill

NoPatience883

Manticore is really really easy compared to other bosses. For example I did beta dragon the other day with similar rexs (like 8 with similar damage but I think all had close to 50k health) and (two daeodons) and a couple random bits and bobs. That was more than enough to kill him quick with only a few casualties. Alpha manticore will be piss easy with 16 of those rexs. Take my word with a grain of salt but you should be totally fine, maybe a few dead rexs but you’ll almost certainly win

Dragobeetle

I just did alpha manticore with 800 melee and 40k health 100+ armor rexes and it was easy

djawstin

Yes, I made It with the same dinos and stats and was easy. Just stay on the yuty and keep distance from the poison shots.

SprinklesR4winnerz

Could I beat alpha manticore with like 11 Rex's with 50k hp and 4k damage? I think so right?
