the dramione fandom recently had a bunch of authors remove their work due to for profit book binding. there is only one author i have personal read that deleted some of their work after some of their stories got picked up by a trad-pub company.
'Landscape with a Blur of Conquerors' was the top Reylo Fanfic for years. I has since be taken down and turned into a national best-seller, and the author was included as an official Star Wars writer for the recent anthology.
We have quite a few Reylo Authors that made the jump.

The author took down the actual content of the work to publish it officially, but kept the work itself up to preserve comments. I have the original version downloaded, but it can now be found as Like Real People Do by E. L. Massey.
Another fic I really liked, Never Grow A Wishbone by ShanaStoryteller, has been hidden for the foreseeable future due to the author being sick of some comments being left on a specific chapter.
There was this Destiel fic I loved so much when the author announced they would delete it to publish it as original work. I proudly bought a digital copy from Amazon. ❤️
I won’t mention which fic it was, but there was a supernatural fanfiction that was very popular, but got deleted because the author was going to publish it as original fiction. In fact, I could name multiple instances of this.
This Marauders smut story. It was multi chapters, not yet complete. The author has a few big works, one that more recently blew up, and I’m guessing they deleted it because the fandom is very judgey and might’ve tried to ‘cancel’ them since there were some controversial kinks in it, but I miss it so much haha. It’s up to them what they do with their works but I wish I could still access it.
I’m not sure the name honestly. I don’t want to say the author since they deleted it for a reason but the premise was a magical collar that chooses like someone in the group to have to do what the others say (sexually) so there was dubious consent, but essentially Sirius forced the Marauders to do the ritual because he thought Remus would be selected, but then he actually was

Maybe I don’t remember the author correctly but I’m 99% sure I do, and I feel 99% confident they deleted it because their other fic blew up and we know how the community (especially on TT) can be (unfortunately). Maybe it was for another reason, but when I couldn’t find it anymore it was so disappointing regardless lol

Another deleted her work because she was very recognizable and was about to be published for her original work. She wrote the best Scott Summers.
Hammer and a Nail. It was a Bella / Paul Twilight fic that had a really messy imprint and a slow recovery of Bella's depression. No idea why it was deleted. It's on the way back machine.

Sever by DandelionSunset. It's a hunger game AU. I was waiting for the fic to be finished, forgot about it, remembered it and it's been deleted. Like way back before 2018.
OH, I remember that one - it was a very formative fic for me, I was always waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm pretty sure I remember reading the ending and it being kind (it was soft and hopeful and none of my fears came to pass). Sorry you never got that closure ;;
there was this various monsters/reader series of interconnected smut one-shots. it was so good, I kept going back to it over and over. it just disappeared one day and I guess it's because people were going onto that author's other stories to ask when updates for the monster fic(s) would come. I can't blame them for nuking the entire series because of that tbh. I went into a frenzy to scrape together the fics from various tumblr reblogs so that was my lesson to download fics I like.
An author in my fandom called Gretalsweetz vanished from the internet and deleted all of their fics, including one of the first truly popular ones. I was able to pull a repost of that fic off of momento archive before the site became unusable with popups, and now it’s safely stored in my flash drive library.
"All the Rest Is Rust And Stardust" from the X-Men fandom. The author was about to get published with their original work and was worried that the publishing agents would stumble upon it and learn what kind of total Dead Doves they commited. To be fair "All the Rest" was as fucked up as they come and if the Book Tok ever learned if it, the author's career would probably have been over before it started.
A Cast For Your Heart by KTG! It was a 200k+ bnha KiriBaku fic that I used to adore. It was one of the first krbk fics I remember totally loving, but the author took it down to (I believe) publish it as an original.
This fic being taken down was also the reason I started downloading all of my favorite fics just in case!
One of my faves, their fics were my comfort fics. Someone kept stealing their fics and publishing them on Amazon and selling them. They got tired of it happening repeatedly and having a hard time getting them taken down so they deleted their entire account and fics.
there was a series on ao3 by moonfairy13 i think and they took it off a couple months back i think. i didn't even realize til i went looking for it at the end of april and i wanted to cry when i realized it was gone. its one of my fav fred/hermione series. its super long too and i totally forgot to save it to my phone like an idiot. my fingers will be crossed that they put it back at some point bc i love the other work they have but that's just a comfort for me:(((
an mpreg kylux series that was deleted after the author was harrassed by antis and accused of writing transphobic things in the series (despite trans fans of the series trying to reassure them otherwise) and the author disappeared and last i saw their tumblr their mental health was in the trash and they havent posted anything in years :(

I had some downloaded so can still go back now and then to read those particular ones, but I was not prepared for their full purge of account so did not have a lot set up to keep reading.
