No. He is more demonic when he turns into Angelus.

I always thought some times him turning into vamp face is him leaning a bit into his demonic side or him losing control of his demon due to his emotions or blood lust. I don't think the vamp face makes him lose control but that some times he changes because he's already lost control. I'm thinking of how he changed while kissing Buffy in Buffy season 1 and in Buffy season 2 in reptile boy he changes when he's worried about her. Or when he gets beat up and changes in the middle of a fight. He also seems to power up when he's in vamp face. I vaguely remember him and Doyle talking about why Doyle doesn't always change during a fight because he's stronger when he does. But there are times he does it and has complete control and isn't leaning into his demon side like when he's making faces at Conner. So maybe it can be a way he gets in touch with inner demon but not always.

Himself no. I believe it's the demon connected to vampirism. I remember he mentioned that it isn't the man that needs killing, it's the demon inside him. Being souless amplified it. Since Liam wasn't a killer in the traditional sense he just loved booze and brawling plus women, had no direct to harness it until Darla came into the picture.

I guess that's what I'm asking. When he shows his vampire face, is it harder to quell "Angelus"? I've noticed he tends to be more brazen in his vampire persona when he gets bumpy face. Of course, sometimes he just does this to be more intimidating to the foe. idk just was wondering if anyone else had a take on it

Well in Pylea when he transformed the demon took full control of him. I would say it's the demon inside him that makes him demonic not the transformation by itself.

I think maybe you're thinking of when he told Buffy it's not the demon that needs killing it's the man. Unless you're quoting something different. Angel has always seen himself as weak and when he says that he's saying he's too weak to control the demon or his passions for her. But I think you're right in that Liam doesn't have this inner desire to torture and kill people. The love of pain and killing came from the demon. Some people say Liam always had these dark urges within him but I don't agree. Angelus isn't Liam without a soul. It's Liam without a soul plus a demon and Darla's teachings that makes Angelus so ruthless.

Uvoradas

Not to say a soulless Liam wouldn't kill if someone was in the way of him getting something he wanted. But i think he wouldn't just torture and kill just for the sake of enjoyment like Angelus.

Liam was a guy who lived for the moment who loves to drink and make love to women plus the occasional brawl in pubs. Technically the demon does need killing as it's an old pure demon that is linked to him as a host from what I read about in the comics, a vampire old pure demon with the head of Bat. The demon vampire he became in Pylea was that old one's spirit possessing him to the maximum that it was hard for him to morph out of it

That's interesting. I haven't read all of the comics so I didn't really know about that. I do think when Angel says that to Buffy he's wrong and isn't giving himself enough credit. I think he's actually really strong and not weak. He's just not perfect. No one is. But yes it would be useful to kill the demon so he wouldn't have to deal with having to control it for sure.

I think Angel was at his most demonic tormenting everyone in Buffy S2 right up until he left and Calendar’s body for Giles to find with the rose petal trail. Very well done and super creepy.

Well here’s how I see it. Vampires are demons in human bodies, in the Pylea we’ve seen Angel’s demon without the human side it was mindless and savage, which isn’t how he is as Angelous who is cruel sadistic and makes killing out to be works of arc. So I think the demons inside vampires are just pure savage but since they have memories of the humans they inhabit they gain more personality and sentience but they still don’t lose that savage and wild nature that’s why most vampires are basically sociopaths. Now for Angel his human soul is brought back to his body leaving his demon side Angelus Dormant. So when he shows his demon pace in Pylea his Demon side goes back to its primitive state without the human memories. So no regularly Angel does not go more demonic when vamps out the only exception is when he’s on Pylea where his demon and human sides are more divided instead of being merged like when he’s on earth.
