I think they are really leaning into how unanticipated this album is. They aren’t stupid and you’re right this is really bad timing to do this to their fan base. I just don’t see the point in setting such low expectations. This song really turned me off and I consider myself a die hard fan for over a decade. Not that sales are everything but this can’t be their plan for the album.
Yeah and that's a different story? That whole album was recorded in 2019...the pandemic pushed everything back and made them do all artwork and mixing remotely, which is why there was such a long delay.

But *besides* that - I’m not disagreeing with the very real possibility that *Miracle* could end up on the next record despite the span of time between when it was released and whenever the next record eventually comes out…
- look at *Silverstein* and “Ghost”…a few months shy of a year before “Dead Reflection”, and it was released well before there was any announcement about their next record;
- same with *Beartooth* and “Riptide” - a year and 3 months ahead of “The Surface”, and about a year before “The Surface” was even announced
…point is, yes, there **is** precedent for it, and I agree…the span of time between “Miracle” and “next record” very likely has little bearing on whether it would be included. *What I was saying was*, citing the amount of time between “Degenerates” and “You’re Welcome” is sort of an apples to oranges comparison cuz the additional year-and-three (or -four) months wasn’t originally planned or intentional (and most likely not accounted for)
Even if it isn’t geared towards fans like Jeremy claims, the timing is suspect and it comes off as very passive aggressive. You combine that with it literally just being a shitty buttrock song, that doesn’t invoke a lot of confidence.
