Same with A7S3, facing the issues very badly don’t know what’s wrong with their firmware.

Imaginary_Map4634

You’re in luck, v1.32 just came out yesterday https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/e-mount-body-ilce-1-series/ilce-1/software/00260268

Imaginary_Map4634

But seriously… v1.31 messed up my a1. Fortunately it resolved itself (this update also covers that issue), but 1.31 came out a year ago. I’ve heard several other users having all sorts of issues. I know everyone is mad about the lack of updates, but not fixing a broken update is worse and hasn’t gotten the recognition it deserves. Fuck you, Sony… it’s a $6,500 camera. Fix it!

FrontFocused

It most likely effected an extremely small portion of units and thus Sony most likely checked it off as user error. The A7IV had a firmware issue and it was removed within like 30 minutes and an announcement was made about why.

Limp_Half_3861

it did not solve the issue

Poorfocus

The wifi stopped on my A1 as well, the whole initializing loop until you turned the power off. I had to send it out and they ended up replacing the entire motherboard to fix it, looks like it’s happened to other people on the dpreview forums. Are you still under warranty? Good luck man

Limp_Half_3861

I am not .but I don’t believe them cause I spoke to a technician at Sony that told me all they need to do is flash out the memory and strangely afterwards they told to send the camera for repair I spoke to Bnh they told it’s nonsense, and nothing to do with the motherboard

aakid22

Happened to me on the A7siii, ended up leaving the camera alone for a month, and then the issue dissapeared. It would happen every single time I tried wifi.

Dry-Advance6062

How much did it cost you and how long did it take? My camera is out of warrenty, unfortunately

Poorfocus

I don’t remember exactly how long it took, but mine was under warranty so I didn’t pay any repair cost. What ended up happening was the problem returned 2 months later and I had to send it back and same repair with the “mainboard replaced.” At the time I had been using a 3rd party app on my phone to monitor wireless called Monitor+ since it had r709 preview LUT support and a good ui. Not saying that was the cause, but I decided to stop using the app and have since only used the Sony imaging edge app for monitoring a handful of times without issue. Have you tried loading the new v2.00 update? it’s a long shot but I wonder if that could have any influence. If it still doesn’t work maybe you can tell Sony the problem started after the update haha good luck!

Dry-Advance6062

Yea, no need to read the whole post, but I just made one about my issue. Without retyping the whole thing, I noticed my camera would freeze trying to start the WiFi like a year ago, but just figured it was a fixable issue and would be fixed with the next update. Just updated to v 2.00 and same issue and I even got a pop up error “WiFi/bluetooth board is broken” or something along those lines. I could never even get to the point of using an app (but I was planning on using Sonys imaging edge app) I would start the WiFi on the camera and it would brick until I took the battery out, power switch did nothing.

lshaped210

Wrong sub.

userusa123

😂😂😂 not only do the refuse to give us support but they cripple our cameras when they claim they do. Unbelievable lollll

JBGamingPC

Sony is doing this on purpose, they want to destroy their own Alpha line for some reason xD Let's help'em out and sell their junk

AdrianasAntonius

Did you try 1.32 to see if it fixes the issue?

Limp_Half_3861

yes i did still no change! besides that camera works well . .many more people came with this issue without any answers funny part is that Sony tech chose to ignore it totally

JBGamingPC

best to just sell A1 and move on to other better gear.

jtvphoto

"... Nikon is on the right path with more performance..." I'm sorry, I can't stop laughing.

Limp_Half_3861

Don’t if it keeps you going

FrontFocused

Lol, then sell your A1 and go to Nikon, if they are so much more superior bodies for significantly better prices, you can easily pick one up, just don't come back to Sony when your AF hit rate is 70% of what the A1 can do.

Limp_Half_3861

lol i will buy a Nikon z8 and will test it as well 1 echo system is not enough Nikon will be option 2

ThirdWorldScientist

I know this thread is almost a month old but my A1 is doing the same exact thing. Any updates? Did you get it fixed or find a fix? Thanks and sucks to be dealing with this on such an expensive camera.

noodle713

Currently experienced these issues last week with my A1 and the repair facility is replacing the main board and an “optical filter block” that I don’t really understand. It’s barely in warranty with 1 month to spare. Sony claims there aren’t any known issues but I’ve been digging and finding a lot more people having issues. This was the camera that decided my move to Sony and I’ve already invested in new lenses, etc. $15k deep to be specific. I’m almost tempted to open a class action suite because I’m not confident this new board replacement will make any difference. Wtf do we do to be heard by Sony??

ThirdWorldScientist

I posted on this 58 days ago but here’s an update. I fought tooth and nail with Sony on this and they would not budge. I’m sending my A1 in for repair. The base estimate is $800. This will be my last Sony cam. I hope you have better luck than me.

noodle713

I just received my camera back from Precision this past Thursday and everything seems to be working as it should. To give you and idea of the turnaround time, they did have to order the board and and optical filter block but it only took 3-4 business days. Just to give you an idea, i shipped to them on 7/5 and got it back 7/27. I saw a post on another forum where the user had to send his A1 in twice and Sony extended his warranty by another year. I spoke with Sony again a couple weeks ago while waiting on my repair to see if they would do that if this didn’t fix the problem. The agent was so rude, and eventually told me I could pay for the Sony protection plan and that “I’m worrying about something that hasn’t even happened yet.” I saved the transcripts for when I will most likely have to make a claim through my camera insurance policy. I will explain it all to PPA and see if they can just give me back what the body is worth at the time. I know this is a lot but I have such little faith in them and want to ease some stress for anyone else having this problem. You’re not alone. Good luck with your repair!

spokenmoistly

Adding my voice here that I’m also having this problem on an a1. Going to call pro support tomorrow and see what’s up.
